Default how to rotate screen when auto rotate is off

I want to turn auto-rotate off as I found it to be very annoying, but I still want to rotate it myself manually. How do I rotate the screen when auto rotate is turned off

Current using stock jelly bean

OP means is there an app or something he can install to that would allow OP to press a button to manually rotate the screen

Other than rooting the phone and installing a custom rom that allows you to rebind they navigation key longpresses, I've no idea how to do it.

Or install a rom with notification toggles, and just turn on the rotation when you want it. Some ROMs even have it as an option up next to the Settings tab in the notification tray, like on the Nexus 7.

Or if you don't want to root there are plenty of apps out there that can add notification toggles. I use Power Toggles myself.
