Well..I have "bad" news. The guy didn't show. Very "unfortunate"...
Had he shown up, he would have told me a bunch of stuff I "could not" share...and he would have let me hold a device " I couldn't tell you about"
Does this mean Sprint is getting it?
Had the even happened...it might of been a Sprint device that matched model numbers that popped up online today
anticipated release date and lte radio with quad or dual-core?
I wish I knew that I could tell you 100% quad core with a release sometime in Q1
what price it will be available for on contract?
Honestly, most people don't know this until right before release. I bet we get an official announcement any day now
quad core and LTE are a go? Or, are they still going to have to swap out to dual core?
Well, had the guy shown up, there wouldn't have been LTE to test it on in the area or anywhere nearby. I bet I could have confirmed it having quad and LTE though
If possible could you get them to tell you more precisely the NA release date?
I would be lucky if I could even get q4 out of anyone.
Note line of Samsung phones: is it a flagship?
already expressed my opinion on this
how it feels holding or using the phone in comparison to the original?
I would be willing to bet..that slimmer design and slightly less thick device pictured would feel awesome in hand..you know,,,if I had held one
Do you think the Note 2 will get the same level of advertisement like the SIII did?
personally speaking..no doubt
On the Galaxy S3, the speaker grille is right next to the camera on top of the phone. The Note 2 has it on the bottom, like the Infuse and the Galaxy S2. Which position do you think is better: up top or down at the bottom?
You know, every image on the web has the speaker in the lower location. Had I had it in hand I could confirm this
if the camera on it has zero shutter lag?
Again..if I had one in hand...I could have confirmed it had NO shutter lag, and every feature of the s3+ cool note/spen features too
Questions:
1) In the States are we getting the Exynos Quad 4, the MSM9860(dual core S4 w/Adreno 225), the MSM8960T(dual core S4 w/Adreno 320) or the APQ8064(quad core S4 w/Adreno 320)?
I really wish I had the opportunity to check. Could you imagine if it had an exynos4 processor at 1.6Ghz? I don't know much about checking on the GPU...but what if it had something along the lines of the Mali-400 GPU wouldn't that be swell? Combined with 2gb of ram..I bet it would fly...and android 4.1.1 ..that would have been too much to handle
2) What is the release date for the States and what carriers are getting it?
If I had talked to him, I wonder if he could have confirmed q4..which is oct nov dec for those not into the lingo.
3) Based on what you see when you get it, how much of an improvement is the new non-pentile screen versus the GSIII and the Nexus? How does it compare to the SLCD2 screens on the flagship HTC phones?
Man...I wish I had had the chance to compare. I like the pentile screen on the GS3...and SLCD2 are nice. If the chance were there I bet the screen would have been comparable to the Skyrocket and orig note,
4) If Verizon gets it are they going to lock the bootloader down like the GSIII?
I probably would not have got an answer to this
Will it support USB audio? Meaning can I have it plugged into an external DAC out of the micro-usb port and get the audio out from the external DAC?
I wouldn't have had a way to test this
Will they offer the 64gb Note 2? AND how soon will all of these accessories be available?
Galaxy Note 2 accessories revealed - covers, pouches, S-Pens and more
what type of vehicle dock offerings there will be.
Availability of storage and accessories wouldn't have been answered this early...had I had the chance to ask
With photos,
one can turn the photo around and write on the back of it, much like a real photo. Now when you send that photo to someone, would it be one photo only showing the front or two photos. One showing the front and one showing the back?
I would be willing to bet, had I had the chance, that I would have spent nearly half an hour trying to figure this out. In the end I bet I wouldn't have figured it out.
Digital to Analog Converter?
huh
So uscc isn't getting it huh?
I would have only been able to confirm the major 4
if Verizon Wireless will be getting the Note 2?
See above
The one you'd have in hand is in fact a Sprint version, correct?
You have no idea how much I wish I could tell you that I held a Sprint Galaxy Note 2 in my hands tonight.
I wish I had the chance to hold it and test and confirm the following from the other site as well
Like the spen pressure sensor being far superb
The new pen gliding across the screen edge to edge
LED notifications and form factor being uniform across all carriers
GPS locking instantly on at least 3 sats indoors, another 8 outdoors
What if the Spen immediately put a notification in the notification bar that it was removed...or unlocked the screen when removed..OH WHAT IF it notified you with a beep if you were three feet away and sticking the phone in you pocket without the spen in it. That would be cool.
What if the speaker were good and loud, and crystal clear?
What if it had a cool slide the keyboard left or right action. I prolly couldn't have figured that out though.
Imagine this...if I had been able to confirm most of the above...AND run benchmarks
that would have been so cool.
Like if I had the opportunity and it scored over 13510 antutu
cpu 8313 ram 2834 gpu 1498
or if linpack scores had been anywhere from 178-200+ multi-thread
of if I had the chance and had run CL bench and come back with something like 1400+
25931 native
Oh man, could you imagine a quadrant of 5700+ right out the gate.
"I really can't wait to test one.."
What if I was able to confirm a 3100mah battery
what if he had shown up and the device was tagged with traceable image codes like these...then I couldn't post any pictures I might have taken given the opportunity..if he had showed up

What a shame. Had he shown up all the points you made would have been nice to be proven true.
Regardless, I will just wait until someone will step toward and break their NDA and provide us with juicy details. Until then, thanks.

Had all of that happened, I think the note 2 would be my top choice....but oh well, I guess i'll just have to wait. My big wish is that Sprint will make the right decision and carry this option, especially in 64gb flavor.

Who needs a big screened, fast phone anyway!
You know, that is so true.
I actually think my eyesight is getting better with age, so much better that I think I will give up my Note 1 and just go to the Sprint store and get the iphone 4. Its 3.5 inch screen is enough for my super dooper vision right now.
A 5.3/5.5/5.9 inch screen is just overkill for my eyes.

Right, TS? iPhone is on its way back to me because the buyer "claimed" it didn't power up. I guess, assuming he's legitimately being honest, I'll just go into apple, get it repaired, and use the 4S instead.
(LOL...I so want to post the EVO vs. iPhone video again because it's so applicable with my reply...hahahahaha, but I'll respect TOU.)
And who needs to multi-task watching videos on half the screen while being able to read an article on another. Or have a music widget visable on one part of the screen, while doing some work on the rest of the screen...all on the go. What a waste of time. And a pen stylus? Who writes with a pen anymore? as mentioned in the one of my previous posts, the roadmap does indeed show that a 12-13 megapixel camera was in the timeline with the 5.5 inch phone. And that article proves it was going to have it.
i sense a mid year refresh of the Note 2 coming. lol
I saw that news too. But I'm ok with 8MP camera. 13MP won't necessarily produce better images than 8MP if lens/sensor quality, image processing engine to control light noise don't match up to higher pixel density. It will give larger resolution file for bigger printing. but very few people print pictures from phones at 100% resolution because image quality on small details will look very poor. Small P&S cams are having the same issue due to this marketing push for higher mega pixels.

Yeah, I'm not really that disappointed because Samsung's phone cameras have proven to be one of the best on the market, but that larger resolution would've just been so nice for editing down pictures.
Nontheless, I'm sure it'll produce outstanding pictures.^^^

I noticed that as well.
but hypothetically, if the source had shown up, I would assume he would have given a bit more detail in that it would have been probably announced in qtr 4 for release in qtr 1. Which coincides with that roadmap posted a while back.

Had that have happened, it would put the Note 2 out of the running for my last upgrade, since I only have until end of December...otherwise, I'll have to wait until March.

Actually, I totally miscalculated. I only accounted for 14 months, so I thought that my final 1 year upgrade would expire after December, but looks like January would've been my 18 month timeframe for upgrade anyway. That's win-win...Of course, this is assuming that the Note 2 even gets released on Sprint.
I so hope that it gets released earlier than the 1st quarter of 2013. I may not be able to hold out for that long.

Looking back, it appears that there was even a second q4 speculation regarding a NA release, "I would be lucky if I could even get q4 out of anyone. "
It really makes you wonder if anybody speculating in the q1 time period simply had a typo.
I would like to know if the 64GB version will be released at the same time as the others, or if it will be delayed (like it is for the Galaxy S III). I had been waiting for the Galaxy S III, 64GB version, for some time, but then I researched the Galaxy Note II and decided that this would be the phone to get. So I wait some more.

hey drex,
remember when I said that you should if possible wait till both devices (Vu and Note) are in the stores so you can check it out and then decide. Well, while its not the same thing as a hand on, you might find this interesting...

Thanks for the vid, TS. That is cool as hell!...LOL
I'm actually not considering the VU. The Eclipse is smaller, so if I go Phablet...it'd be the Note 2. If I just go phone, it'll be the Eclipse (assuming it's the US version of the Optimus G).

Yeah, I'm sure there are many Verizon customers that feel the same as you. I'm just happy that there've been lots of leaked blogs about Sprint getting it. Now, I just hope that it gets released in q4 and I won't have to wait too long to decide between the optimus g and this beast.

Hahaha...I'm not "quite" there yet because I'm reserved to see how the Optimus G (aka Eclipse) is. So, I'm not likely to pre-order, whichever of the two is released first, but these are definitely my top 2 choices. The Note 1 is humongous. I always thought that would bother me, but the more that I thought about the multi-tasking capabilities and the s-pen and all the other "business" benefits I'd have with the Note 2, the more it jumped out as a true contender for my final upgrade. On top of that, I could easliy see myself keeping it (afterwards) as a media player...if I decide to upgrade in 2014, when I'll be eligible for my 1st non-1 year upgrade (man, that seems so far away).

Yea I left my photon behind and am using an old iphone 4 (long story) I got out of phones for a few months because i was spending too much on them buying retail. I never wait for upgrades but this time I have one and have decided on the note as my upgrade and want to try to keep it as long as possible lol.
