The size, specs etc are enough for me to want it and the only thing i am waiting on is what price it will be available for on contract before i make up my mind to wait for it or just get the original note.

Thank you. Specs and features make this a must-have for me but the availabity "some time in 2012" is vague at best. If possible could you get them to tell you more precisely the NA release date?

Priceless!!! I'm going to start asking this next time I see something about flagship cause lately all the forums I'm on have been overrun with people stating they were only going to buy a particular phone if it's a flagship.
The way I see flagship is a phone that launches first of it's kind.
Note 1 = Flagship
Note 2 = Sucessor
If I'm wrong, someone.....anyone (whose absolutely sure) please tell me.

Another thing I'd like to know is how it feels holding or using the phone in comparison to the original. It's supposed to be narrower and less thick, but if that's negligible from the original, then I might have reservations.

My definition of flagship is slightly different from yours. In my standards, for a phone to be a flagship, it must, by order of importance:
1. Get good support after purchase (i.e., software and firmware updates)
2. Not be a previous model that was merely modified (i.e., put on steroids). In other words, the phone must be a new creation, not a souped up version of a previous model.
3. Be highly publicized in media outlets; generate lots of consumer hype prior to release
4. Be sold internationally, not in select countries
Here's something else I'd like to bring up: The Galaxy Note 1 has a predecessor, according to Wikipedia. It was the Infuse 4G. Want proof? Here it is: Samsung Galaxy Note - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Look at the table on the right side of the page. Looking up the Infuse on Wikipedia will say that the Note 1 is the successor.
I know that the saying goes that you shouldn't believe everything you read, but this is something to think about. After all, once you get a phone and sign a contract, you're stuck with it for almost 2 years. So you have to get the right phone and still say to yourself months afterward, "I made the right choice." I failed miserably in that department and therefore am itching for 12/31 to come, which is when I can choose between the Galaxy S3 and the Note 2.
The Infuse, which is my current phone, did not get good support after purchase. For any of you who have this phone, I don't think the half-baked and delayed Gingerbread update can count as support. Also, at another forum, the Infuse was said to be a Samsung Captivate on steroids because of a slightly overclocked CPU and larger screen. I don't know about the publicity about this phone, but I don't think there was that much hype around the Infuse; I could be wrong about this. But one thing is for sure: it was definitely NOT sold internationally; it was only sold in North America, only on two carriers at that: AT&T and Rogers Wireless.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Note is sold internationally. I'm not so sure where the Note fits in the other criterion I listed here. Any clarification regarding this is appreciated.

Totally honest answer...i dont believe flagships exist anymore. At the rate that they churn out devices a phone cant hold that status long.
That being said...advertising with the s3 chsnged the game. I believe it fits all of the criteria you mention and though the note W will do well with a great following,I highly doubt it will take the place of the s3
It was sad what happened with the infuse. It was a great device

Do you think the Note 2 will get the same level of advertisement like the SIII did?
So I was just researching the Note 2, and I found something that is a little disturbing for me.
On the Galaxy S3, the speaker grille is right next to the camera on top of the phone. The Note 2 has it on the bottom, like the Infuse and the Galaxy S2. Which position do you think is better: up top or down at the bottom?
Also, Mr. Ed, when you get your Note 2 on Thursday or whenever you do, can you please let us know if the camera on it has zero shutter lag? Since my previous post suggests that I never want to be stuck with another bad phone, I want to make sure that I am making the right choice. I really want to weigh my options between the Galaxy S3 and the Note 2 and make a careful and informed choice.
Needless to say, getting stuck with a bad and neglected phone (my phone always freezes up on me, requiring a reboot every time it does) is a consequence of not doing your homework of researching all the different phones being sold on a carrier before setting out to buy one. So from now on I'm going to make sure I do my homework before I get any new phone. You can tell that I've already started it; in fact, I started it after the Galaxy S3 was released. Only after I make a solid, unchanging decision on which phone to get and then ultimately getting that phone will my homework be completed; until those things happen though, I have to continue researching. And I'll have to do the homework each time come upgrade time.

It will be a real bummer if the note 2 speaker is down at the bottom. I have demonstrated numerous times to peopke that matter that it is muffled by hand when in thst location. I was super excited to see its location chsnged on the s3
Shutter lag is also a great question. That is a huge issue on the orig note.
I have no doubt the note 2 will receive heavy advertising like the orig and the s3 and 10.1 note.
Questions:
1) In the States are we getting the Exynos Quad 4, the MSM9860(dual core S4 w/Adreno 225), the MSM8960T(dual core S4 w/Adreno 320) or the APQ8064(quad core S4 w/Adreno 320)?
2) What is the release date for the States and what carriers are getting it?
3) Based on what you see when you get it, how much of an improvement is the new non-pentile screen versus the GSIII and the Nexus? How does it compare to the SLCD2 screens on the flagship HTC phones?
4) If Verizon gets it are they going to lock the bootloader down like the GSIII?
That's all I can think of for now. Thanks for being so cool about answering all our questions!

If they offer the 64gb Note 2, that might put the Note 2 into my #1 upgrade choice position over the LG Eclipse. The next couple months are going to seem excruciatingly long.

One question.
With photos,
one can turn the photo around and write on the back of it, much like a real photo. Now when you send that photo to someone, would it be one photo only showing the front or two photos. One showing the front and one showing the back?
Other than that, I look forward to your report and the insight of when Sprint gets it.

They are okay, but I love Sprint, been with them for ages (I think 11 years now), had 4 lines with them but gave up one for the Note on AT&T. i just do not like having to look over my shoulder to see if I am at the bandwidth threshold. I like unlimited. And seeing the positive results from their LTE network Vision deployment from members that have LTE gives me a satisfaction that once it arrives in my town, I will be totally happy.
back on topic...
Its funny, I was totally excited about the 1st note, then I got excited about the Note 10.1, but this new Note takes the cake. i can't even find the words to express what i feel. I so look forward to Mr Ed's upcoming insights and for the device to be on all carriers (except verizon who decided to go for the Vu)

Digital to Analog Converter. I mean it'd be cool if it worked with your head unit too but I'm referring to an external device that plugs in via USB to the Note and has an audio out. The device would be doing the converting of the audio file into analog instead of the Note 2 doing it, thus an external DAC. I may have read that the GS3 supports them, so I'm hoping the Note 2 will.

Alrighty. I'd hope since the GS3 supports them they wouldn't take that function away for the Note 2. Are you able to ask questions of whoever you're getting the phone from? If so I'd super appreciate it if you brought it up.

Motorola dock supports this for sure, which is one of the big things I loved about the Motorola vehicle dock in comparison to any other I've ever owned/used. The vehicle dock for Motorola phones comes with a microUSB charging cable that has a splitter on the USB end that also has a 3.5mm output adapter. Love having that.
And I have another question, if it's possible to answer when the test unit is in...how soon will all of these accessories be available?
Most importantly, I'd like to know what type of vehicle dock offerings there will be. I'm very big on vehicle docks and functionality of the vehicle docks. LTEvo has a good one this year. The MoPho and other Motorola devices have an excellent vehicle dock. The one that shows in that link looks to be an OEM universal, but I'm hoping that they actually make a dock with an integrated charging unit and digital to analog converter w/ a 3.5mm adapter, like you've stated, JunBringer.

As long as the delay doesn't take release past november, I'm fine with that. The wait is still gonna suck. If the Eclipse really is a beast that it's rumored to be, I may just go with that and get a samsung windows tablet to use for work.
(1) Can you please find out if Verizon Wireless will be getting the Note 2? I have read that Verizon Wireless might not because they have had issues with the Galaxy Nexus and will have another device similar to the Note 2 to sell.
(2) When the Galaxy Nexus 2 comes out by the end of this year, wouldn't it be better than the Note 2?

I don't understand your (1). What does Galaxy Nexus have to do with Note 2? It's two different categories. Like you said, Verizon had quite bit of issues with Nexus with bugs, updates. Chances are they won't get the next Nexus, IMO.
Either way, it won't affect verizon releasing Note2. If they choose to pass on it, it must be for some different reason. but I hope they don't.
There are online rumors that Verizon may pass for choice on HTC phablet
Some android sites just guessed they might pass it for HTC phablet but it's still rumor. I have yet to see any confirmation on that. If true, it's major bummer for those on Verizon.
If anyone wants to volunteer...make one post with all of the questions above...that will help me a ton and save time

Announced at IFA 2012, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 follows its predecessor with a focus on creativity. The device improves the experience by adding more S-Pen functionality and new-generation specs, not to mention the slightly larger 5.5-inch display... Read More
