looks like Samsung took the extra battery / charging station of their site. i cannot find it. anyone make a third party one looking into? i was ready to buy sammys with 50% off coupon but it was back ordered now i dont even see it on the site.
Thanks for the tip for the Verizon Wireless store for the Samsung Smart Dock II!!
I searched for any discount codes - but could not wait.
So I paid full price $99+tax -and plan to use this with my AT&T Note 2
This will save me the hours i have already spent checking daily for the Smart Dock II at at the Samsung store! Smart Media Dock, 3 USB ports, HDMI, line audio-out, TA included
I ordered 2 of these through Verizon wireless online and received them today. I got each one for $80.00 (20% off) since I purchased 3 accessory items at the same time. I have to say that this is a great accessory! Unlike the black one which is just a charging dock and doesn't fit my GNII with a Seidio active case on it, this white smart dock does fit with the Seidio active case still on my phone. This is a huge must for me not having to remove the case every time I want to dock my phone. It fits the white smart dock and not the black one with the Seidio case on due to a slight design difference between the two which provides the white dock some addtional room. Not to mention that the Smart dock did come with the exact same great 2A travel charger that came with our devices!
Now's here's the catch that I am hoping to cash in on.........Verizon is running a promotion right now that their return window has been extended beyond the 14 day period and you now have until January 15th to return any items you purchased. I am hoping that Samsung gets their white smart docks in before then and if they do, I will order 2 from them @ $50 each and return the 2 I purchased from Verizon back to them which will give me a net difference back of another $60.00. I have a discount code through Samsung that I got for registering my device with them for 50% off all accessories through 1/14/2012. the 2 dates are about the same so I am keeping my fingers crossed that Samsung gets them in before Verizon's return window closes. Either way, I am happy but the extra $60 back in my pocket would sure be a nice bonus.
Looking for Holster to Cover Front and Back of Phone Note 2
I just got a Galaxy Note 2 in Titanium last night. What a beautiful phone! Now I want to keep it beautiful.
I'm looking for a nice holster, preferably with a belt clip and belt loops (but clip only would be OK), which would cover both the front and back of the phone for protection against scratches and dropping. Some sort of padded pouch with belt clip would be OK, too. I just don't want any surface of the phone exposed while it is on my side.
The Otterbox Defender series would cover it all. It has a built in screen protector (even though I dont care for it), a hard shell and a silicon cover over the shell for protection and comes with its own belt clip/holster to hold it onto your belt. The holster will also turn into a kick stand if you choose.

Thank you, byrds8. Just curious, what don't you like about the screen protector?
I see this morning the Otterboxes for the Note 2 are now available in black or white (they were out of stock yesterday). I ordered a black one, and should have it in a few days.
Many manufacturers; Samsung & LG are in the forefront of my mind, tend to do colors specific to regions.
Not sure why they think we only want black.
When I purchased my LG Tones they were only available here in black and I was informed if I wanted white I needed to contact LG directly.
I contacted eBay instead and got them.
When I called Samsung about the white charging dock they couldn't even find it in their (U.S.) system but eBay had it.
And don't get me started on the BT S-Pen.
Samsung support didn't even know what I was talking about.
But eBay knew.

Awesome. This is all I needed, actually. The made in Korea mention, as well as the Serial Number will help me deduct which battery is the ebay one.
That said, the ebay battery really does seem to last as long as the OEM batteries, but I want to be sure to keep it separate from the OEM's, just for reference sake.

It amazes me how the Smart Dock is still on back order. Its like they don't want to sell accessories.

Strategic planning. Offer it early, while the 50% coupons are still valid. Take it off the site and list as "back-ordered" and drag their feet on making available again. Then, once most of the 50% off coupons have expired, make it available again at full price, since the product will be in high demand.
That said, I already have a "worst case scenario" planned out, in the event they don't re-stock before my coupons expire.

All 3 of my batteries say made in Korea. 2 have assembled in China.
The one shipped from Hong Kong is the one that doesnt have China on it.

This is what I've deducted so far:
Battery stand w/ extra battery = Made in Korea, assembled in China
Sprint OEM battery = Made in Korea, assembled in China
International version = Made in Korea
Here's the thing, the ebay battery looks so close to the Sprint/Extra Battery Stand Battery, that I was trying to decipher small discrepancies.

Although I have no complaints on battery life and it lasts way way longer than any previous phone, I came across a extended battery flip cover over on ebay tonight that after doing some investigating, doesn't add that much bulk like some I've seen. So I bit the bullet and ordered it. Once it comes in, I'll review it.

I know you of all people know better. ....
Where's the link man?
Extended battery flip cover case with a kickstand! I just might buy one of these at some point.
Had something slightly similar for my galaxy nexus, if I were to purchase I'd snip that flip cover off. It's just not practical to me, I want to see the face of my phone. The kickstand is a plus!

That would work for those that do not like the flip cover, but the only problem with it is that you lose access to the S-Pen since it covers it up. Which is why i went for the other one.

Anytime, but I should be getting it by Monday, so don't thank me yet until after i review it.
Speaking of the device. i actually was looking on ebay at the charger which Scandalex posted a few posts back and came across that back cover battery in my searches.
Upon further research, I found the original from China on the Alibaba website which has a life size image on the website.
So I figure, let me take the Note 2 and see how much thicker it would be, so I added 2 OEM back covers to the flip cover and it was bigger than the one on the screen.
So this device is basically as thick as the Note with a folio flip cover plus 1 oem back over together. that is way more slender than most other extended batteries out there.
See this is why we can't stop spending money on accessories.
You start looking for something then find something else, then the next thing you know you're standing on the curb looking lost with a handful of stuff you can't use all at the same time.
Now that I think of this I think the only person who hasn't gone bat crazy on accessories is Alma...... somebody take that Note from her!

Well let's see ... I have 3 OEM flip cases, a Mastic Lettering diary case, a rubber bumper case, and I'm waiting for delivery of a leather monogrammed case and another wallet case that was to cool to pass up. I also have a Smart Dock, 2 extra batteries that came with an external wall charger and I'm waiting for an OEM external desk dock/charger with battery to be delivered. Oh and I have a car dock too.

The extender that I custom rigged to fit with the plain mount (that connects to the prodock base) just seemed to be a little too loose so I was trying my best to tighten without over-doing it. While I was turning the screw, placed my hand on top of the dock, not realizing how much pressure I was putting, and...snap...lol. I can just use the plain mount I bought from Amazon, but it changes the viewing angles.
does Sammy have a flip cover that doesn't replace the battery cover but instead has some lip around the edge? I saw one (not sure if it was from Sammy but it looked like it; it was sleek) in McD's the other day but I couldn't bring myself to ask the guy where he bought it.
Try as I may, I am really losing my patience with Samsung over getting this Smart dock out to the public.
Its truly impossible getting that thing.

I agree if you are trying to get through Samsung. I did get 2 of these through Verizon though and received 20% off each as I bought a third inexpensive item. Not as good as the 50% off Samsung is offering. I was (and still am) hoping Sammy gets these in before the 14th of January because if they do, I will return the ones I got from Verizon and get 2 from Samsung for the additional 30% off each dock. Verizon does still have these in stock and Verizon has extended their return period until the 14th of January. These smart docks are very nice with the exception of being white. I would prefer the black to more closely match my gray note II. So far though, I haven't even seen the hint of a black smart dock being existing. The white one is very nice nonetheless. I like that the opening is slightly larger at the top and accommodates many more case choices than the regular dock does. I hate to have to take a case off prior to docking so this is pretty important to me.
I would post pictures but there is no need. I have tried it with a thick case and thin case and they both support my Note 2 very well. It also supports a nexus 7 as I saw in the review.
There's rubber at the bottom so it doesn't slide, it supports pretty much any angle you'd ever want. When using the s pen on it or simply using your fingers it never wobbles about - sometimes in portrait, also works on a bed reasonably well.
Charging doesn't really work in portrait mode but is great, in landscape view. I always use landscape mode as I prefer a landscape home screen - I use nova launcher. To get a landscape lock screen, and a landscape home screen for those of you that use the standard touchwiz launcher, download an app on the playstore called rotation locker, it's free. Then open it and hold onto auto, and it will automatically adjust into landscape mode like it should have done as standard!
Possibly one of the best accessories I've bought with my note 2. Very happy with the stand.
Anybody who has a note 2 at least has to download rotation locker. You have to experience landscape mode on the homescreen, looks so, so much better.
Then you can also check out nova launcher.
I'd never want to dock my phone in a portrait mode, when I use my phone, It's mainly in landscape mode unless I'm moving about at the same time.
Also having a nice live wallpaper is a must! Make sure you download one of the following wallpapers. They make all the difference and make the android experience even better. Just give them a go!
Audio flow (pro version is great)
Nexus revamped (Pro is also superb)
Ocean HD
Twisted colours
Magic smoke

Hi, I enjoyed your reviews. Can you tell me which case of the two are you more likely to use on a daily basis? Thank you.
I can't answer for her but I just got the white Cruzerlite Androidified TPU case for the Note 2 and I'm honestly impressed with the quality of it. It does add some bulk and some weight but I think this case is perfect to use daily. I am very picky with cases and this one satisfies me.
Disclaimer: I did get this case for free, but not for the purpose of review. I got it through a promotion they were doing through Amazon yesterday for free cases to the first 100 people.
