PS - The Note 2 will complete my official move from the (Apple) dark-side.
Glad to be here!
Welcome brother/sister. Many of us have arrived here from the iphone 4s in what seems like something of a mass exodus after the disappointment of the iphone5. Note 2 for me as well. Titanium Grey for me. Personally would have liked something even darker.

Hahahaha, I'm also joining the "mass exodus" from Apple. I currently have the iPhone 4 with AT&T and can't wait to get the Note 2 on Verizon. I can see the promised land on the horizon, Hallelujah!!

Wow...I didn't realize there was that much disappointment over the iPhone 5. In any event, welcome to the world of Android! If you love tech and you hate limitations, you're in a good place (even if you don't root the phone).

Same here, coming from a 2 year old iPhone 4 32GB. iPhone's are terrible, practically unusable without a jailbreak since there are some tweaks that are just needed which are readily available on Android, and if you jailbreak, it make the phone laggy. So fed up of ios and can't wait to free my computer from iTunes.
Can't wait to get rid of my iPhone. No more Apple products for me!
Wasn't going to get the iPhone 5 anyway, and I'm glad it's so terrible, finally Apple's downfall has started and soon Android will take over

I have my eye on the white Note 2 but have sweaty palms and do not want to have a dirty phone (nor do I want to have butter fingers and drop it). :-)
Let me know.

Welcome to Android!
Regarding the white, I think it'd be much like any white phone, including the iPhone.
I personally have never been a big fan of Samsung until this year (their history of OEM support was awful until after the success of the SGS 2). I don't know how the poly-carbonate material would compare to other materials used by different OEM's, but it's still a form of plastic. There are plenty of "protective" options out there that don't add bulk to the phone (think Screen protector, except for the back of the phone).
There's another website called skinit.com that also offers similar product.
Main point is that, if you're worried about "fading," this can help prevent that (not that the white will fade, but I'm sure you understand the point).

I laughed even before Samsung started making parody commercials about the Apple waiting lines.
"Like nothing before..." A 4" screen and 8mp camera. All of which my 2+ yr old Droid X had, and was way more efficient than.
I have an iphone from work, and explain to people all the time about how Apple only allows you to do things one way, one at a time. With Android I can pull up a desktop with my calendar tasks, news scrolling, and facebook updates. I can turn off Wifi/bluetooth with a widget all on the same screen. With my iphone I have to go into a bunch of damn menus and it's absurd. Apple is for people who want things only one way and want to be told how to do it. Android is simply for people who know what the hell they are doing.
I've had several white phones and none of have gotten grimey or discolored. Neither have any of my white tablets. I've been stuck on white devices since my first iPod.
On another note....welcome to Android.

Tell me about it. Just yesterday, for some unknown reason, people can no longer hear me during phone calls. Nothing changed from the previous day. It was not dropped or mistreated in any way. I'm currently in the process of resetting the phone to see if that fixes the issue, but from what i have been reading, there is nothing to do but to replace the phone, BS i tell you!!

now now people, lets not turn this into an iPhone vs Android thread.
The iPhone series has a purpose and is good for most folks. Its a very good series and besides every phone regardless of make is not perfect. Some come out with flaws more than others.
now with that out of the way, welcome to all the previous iPhone users.
As for the original topic at hand, my cousin still has a white Note I from day one and it still looks like new. No fading. Besides like what has been pointed out, you can also get one of those folio back covers (in any color) that protects the screen and still gives the Note a different look.

I forgot to add, I had a white EVO 4g (the original) and just took the skin off that I had put on there from the first day it was available. It's been 2 years and the white still looked brand new. The only problem with the original EVO was chipping around the microUSB/microHDMI ports. Since the internals were red on the original EVO, you can clearly see where the paint chipped away. Other than that, the back cover looked great and I'm sure all of the OEM's have made better enhancements on developing white phones, so the flaws of paint chipping won't expose the phone to looking extremely worn.
I just got the white note 2, yes I am that impatient, came from the blue S3, and I prefer the white for now, colors seems to stand out better! But the cheap silver border can be noticed easier. I do like the grey, may get that when the U.S. version comes out. Either way you cant go wrong, it makes the S3 run like crap sad to say
Great input everyone. I'm still set on the white version and looked at the Note 1 at Sam's Club and like it.
However, the version at Sam's Club has a textured back that I really like. From what I can tell, the Note 2 does not have that... is that the case or does the photos not pick it up?

No the back is not textured on the Note 2. As I remember, it wasn't textured on the white Note 1 I played with when they first hit Best Buy.
Since the Note 2 is a huge hit and as more accessories are made for it, I'm almost certain textured backs will be available for purchase from somewhere.

That is good to know. It's interesting that the demo Note 1 at Sam's has the textured back. As I mentioned, it is very nice and doesn't feel as slippery.
One thing I like about the plastic casing is that it can be replaced fairly cheaply once manufactures start creating them.
Announced at IFA 2012, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 follows its predecessor with a focus on creativity. The device improves the experience by adding more S-Pen functionality and new-generation specs, not to mention the slightly larger 5.5-inch display... Read More
