As a person that has been there, done that, & got the t-shirt so to speak on this subject matter w/ the S3, I would highly recommend waiting until the Note 2 is released on all of the major US carriers.
If there are no major differences than just leave it all as one, but if there are numerous / noticeable differences than separating them might be a good idea. I remember when the S3 was first released I was trying to help a member figure out where to turn her Wi-Fi on & off. I told her it's in the "Ongoing" section when you pull down your notification bar. When she said there was nothing in her "Ongoing" section I thought she had no idea what she was talking about as she was new to smartphones in general. Unfortunately, I couldn't help her out. As time went one it was later discovered that the Wi-Fi on / off is in a different section on some carriers. I have the Verizon S3 & found out that lady I was trying to help that day had a Sprint S3. While this may seem minor to some it can be quite confusing when the device is released & you are unaware of the differences between each carriers version.
There is no use deciding now on the "what if's". Once you have all the facts / differences in front of you then make the decision. When the S3 was first released I was "all in" so to speak on separate forums, but looking back on it now it just really wasn't needed. Hope this helps.

Very good point. Those types of differences were shown recently between the sprint and att optimus g .

At the present moment, I am leaning more to the point of having just one Note 2 section (this one) for discussions from all versions, and just have the Root forums being numerous separate ones. Once the device comes out at the end of the month and we see that the root/roms are basically the same for a few models then the admins can merge those together.

Understandable but as each carrier is releasing, it's coming out that not everyone had the same Note 2.
From a post from Elastic, the AT&T version seems like something all together different. From what I gather, they completely branded the phone with all things AT&T (unnecessary bloat).
Require folks to update their profile and list Their Device: Make / model they own,
AND
Their Wireless Carrier service provider
Look over on the left of this post with a typical browser (non tapatalk) and you will see all my stats.
Already I'm seeing many posts with solutions posted by USA Sprint Note 2 owners that are basically non relevant to AT&T Note 2 owners.
We all have issues and problems and many can offer advice and solutions,, but due to the OS fragmentation and long list of differences between Note 2's provided by the various USA Carriers
- its crucial to know what specific version Note 2 is being used by whom.
Moving from IOS to Android is hard enough - but it becomes a lost support nightmare when a UK user insists his solution works, when my AT&T phone does not have those features / functions, or is firmware blocked by AT&T. The further I dive in, the deeper the differences truly are.
I stick with AT&T because they have good coverage in my area - but the Sprint version of the Note 2 is clearly a superior phone compared to my dumbed down restricted AT&T Note2 phone.

Based on what Elantric has said, could you imagine how often we'd be clicking avatars in tapatalk? I can see that getting old really quick. I just did it for the heck of it and after one time I was like oh hell naw!

No perfect solutions for mobile. I actually prefer Boat Browser for our site anyway lol.
I've read/heard a lot of good things about Boat. May have to give it a try.
Only thing flaky is the behavior of the site search on it. Meh, our site search is flaky all by itself. I use Google and prefix the search with site:androidforums.com
Sorry if this was already covered in the many posts above:
If you check *only* the "Samsung Note 2" entry in your list of Android Favorite Forums,
when you select "xxx unread posts since your last visit" would you see all of your unread posts in *all* Note 2 sub-forums including international, all categories of all things root, etc.?
You can use tapatalk in Phandroid? I thought they disallowed access years ago? I basically use the stock Phandroid app to surf the forum.
I use either Tap or Forum Runner. I tried the Phandroid app briefly. It could just be me, but I found it ridiculous to access each site I visit individually instead of having one consolidated app where I could reach them all from within.

yes.. they did disallow it over a year ago.. because of some security issue.
but since the phandroid app was...a failed attempt.
they worked out the issues with tapatalk or tapatalk fixed the security.
it has been brought back. and I like tapatalk much better.
Tapatalk fixed their security issue (and did again recently for all users thanks in part to our feedback). Given the thousands that enjoyed our app in the interim, I would not exactly call it a failure.

I actually loved using the app. Didn't even realize we had transitioned back to having Tapatalk support until it was posted on here. Nontheless, it's great that it's supported...now I just need the other forums I participate on to join the party.

given that we had no choice but to only use phandroid app.. so.. or the website on our phones (on sprint that was a form of self torture).. so, of course there will be a lot of users there.
maybe even more, if the apps was good!
and that it had no support or updates.. and some parts did not work ...
but i do appreciate the yours and AF's efforts to get tapatalk back...

Look at how you have the "all things root" sections at the top of this forum. Why not turn those into a basic carrier specific forum, then post the"all things root" forum for each carrier at the top? That way you have one note 2 forum, but offer carrier specific posts at the top.

I'd love to see which mod/guide volunteers to move all the carrier specific threads to each respective forum. That sounds like a whole week of moving threads...LOL...If not longer.

I like that idea, but at this point in time, I doubt anything will change and will stay as is.

ROFLMAO...That's a good one, bro. But even if I did do it, I'd probably get reprimanded for moving threads without letting anyone know...again...hahahaha.
Announced at IFA 2012, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 follows its predecessor with a focus on creativity. The device improves the experience by adding more S-Pen functionality and new-generation specs, not to mention the slightly larger 5.5-inch display... Read More
