Geez...I suck. It's been so long since I last installed a screen protector that I completely botched the first install. 2nd one went flawlessly, but just had to order another oleophobic, for when I exchange for my grey note 2...Ugh.

LOL, same thing happened to me last night. I had to throw away the first Oleophobic protector because it had so much dust stuck on it already from my many tries trying to place it properly. The 2nd one went better except I have 2 very tiny dust specks . I would not risk re-opening it and attracting more dust.

LOL...Well, everything was going great on the 1st one until I realized that I was placing it off center. When I went backwards to adjust, that's when it went all downhill and a bunch of dust got in, then small dust particles (really wish I would've waited to use my dust cleaner canister).
2nd one was almost perfect, but ended up being slightly off center. Here's the 1st ever pic I've taken from the Note 2!...LOL. But I definitely got this one on smoothly with only 1 small dust particle getting in (which I removed promptly using the tape technique (for those that don't know that one, take a piece of tape and wrap it around backwards on your finger tip, so the sticky side is out, rather than using those awful dust removal stickers).
When/if I exchange the white one for the grey (likely finding that out tonight), I'll hopefully get the 1st one right. Thankfully, Amazon allows payment with points, so no additional "money" out of pocket...but still a bummer that I don't have the 2nd one available for my Sprint Note 2.

Well, the Ultra Crystal was the original option (for those that wanted close to the glass feel and look) and Oleophobic wasn't available for all phones before (at least, it wasn't available initially for the original EVO).
Nontheless, hopefully my pic shows people how clear the Oleophobic really is. It is definitely the go-to choice for me now.

You definitely have to try the shower trick. In the steam the dust isn't an issue so you can reposition without worry.
I received my ultra oleophobic protectors today and will put one on tonight. What is this steam method? From googling it, it sounds like you go into the bathroom after putting some hot water on and steaming up the bathroom and that causes the dust to settle so it isn't flying around your device while you install it. Only crappy thing is having to install it in the bathroom...not usually a place I enjoy hanging out in haha.
I'm always worried about the excess moisture causing the water damage sticker to trigger.
I usually have no problems with the dust, when I measure the protector up correctly right off the bat.
Naw don't worry about that. Living in Miami excess moisture is a way if life. A few minutes in a steamy bathroom is nothing compared to a summer day at the beach!

For my Evo I had Zagg. Snatched it off my phone and never had another protector until this phone so the option of a glass feel was completely new to me.
I bought the SPIGEN Ultra Optics and I really hate it. I absoluetely 100% regret the purchase. Its supposed to be anti-fingerprint. HA! The thing is so smudged up its disgusting, and because of the optics its impossible to clean. I wish I had known that the surface would be so textured, I hate the feeling with the spen, and I dont like how it feels to even slide my finger around it.

Hi slip. Yours is not the first post I've seen today stating how much this particular protector is hated. Have you posted this somewhere else cause I know I've read this? If not you, my apologies.
Have you contacted Spigen about it? Maybe try a different one? The ultra crystal also smudges a lot. Not sure which one provides great feel and no smudges.
This is exactly how I felt regarding the ultra crystal. Most of the reviews and even what other members had to say was very positive--until I started using it myself. Just not a fan of the smudges and constant cleaning.

Nope I didnt post anywhere else, I contacted the ebay seller and they said since one was used they could not exchange it. I emailed Spigen directly about it.
Edit: The ebay seller is unitedsgpcorp, which seems like they could be official. If they were $3 protectors I would just throw them out, but for $18 I would like something Im happy with.

Thanks Wyn. I see they didn't mark it down by much. With another round of Note 2 owners (Verizon) coming in a few days they'd have done better making them 50% off.

Wish me luck. I got my 2nd set of Oleophobic today and will be installing in the morning. Hopefully, I'll be able to do a much better install this time around.

Anti-Fingerprint really is a misnomer. There really is no such thing as anti-fingerprint when it comes to screen protectors. So if you were expecting something truly anti-fingerprint, then the issue here becomes a problem of semantics (the specific wording used by the seller) and over heightened expectations.
Even their Ultra Fine "Anti-Fingerprint" line (Orange package) are not anti-fingerprint. Over time they build up oil and residue that just stick to the front. It is only compounded by the fact that the Ultra Fine reduce the clarity of the screen to begin with. It is like looking through a fogged up window and then putting a cloudy smudge over top of it.
At least with the Ultra Optics (Green package) the screen is more clear, not totally, and truer to the screen representation when compared to Ultra Fine.
Optics does gather oil after a long while, but I've noticed with the screen on you can see through it and barely notice unless it is in liquid build up form or you are in the sun, reflecting the screen.
I like the Ultra Optics texture, but every time I mention the Optics I bring up the texture because some people really do not like it - that is just unavoidable. Not having the Note 2, my biggest question has been how the texture and protector would interact with the S-pen. So your opinion on this is appreciated.
As far as cleaning the Ultra Optics, it can be done. When I need to really cut the oil and get the thing clean I have a small spray bottle (7ml) of diluted cleaner at home. Spray the solution and wipe down the screen protector with my daily use micro-fiber to get the bulk of the oil. Then spray again and use a reserved 'clean only' micro-fiber for a final touch up to get the little residual left - one of my microfibers is only used for this final touch up to keep it the cleanest and most effective.
Optics only needs to be thoroughly cleansed every so often (approx. twice a week for me), whereas the Ultra Crystal I would have to clean multiple times a day. Same would be true of the Ultra Oleophobic, I would be cleaning it multiple times a day I'm sure - it does help slightly repel the oil and clean easier to a degree compared to Crystal.
You can choose to be 100% regretting it if you want to but if you lowered the expectation bar that was set too high in the first place and looked at it from a different perspective you might realize that you have a great product on your hands. There are some trade offs yes, but the challenge becomes finding a product that does everything Optics does. I've experienced a number of different screen protectors from different producers and none of them yet can compare to Optics. If you find something you like better that is fingerprint resistant do please share.

unitedsgpcorp is not Spigen/SGP/Steinheil. They are Cretouch.com an officially authorized partner and reseller of SGP products. They are one of their top "sister sites" if you will, however not associated with the parent company.
I purchased from Cretouch's ebay store about 2 years back because they had a slightly cheaper price and simpler shipping than SGP (this was before SGP was on Amazon).
I Inquired afterwords about their affiliation. It is slightly misleading based on Cretouch's 'official' sounding ebay name. Spigen has recently updated their site to include all of their authorized partners listed - you'll see Cretouch listed with their ebay name mentioned. SPIGEN SGP | Authorized Partners; On-line Store

Good luck Drex. Lay it all out before hand and pick your strategy, get it centered. Peeling the backing from the home key end and starting from the bottom instead may be helpful.
Don't forget to use a low dust/no wind area (kitchen or bathroom work great), clean your work environment of dust 10 minutes before hand, and for the specks of dust that you cannot avoid and end up under the edges - Scotch tape!

Thanks, Pyro! I don't know what my problem was with the 1st install. I was going well until I was trying to make it "too" perfect...I just have to make sure I line it up better this time. And the 2nd, while it wasn't perfectly aligned, went fairly smoothly.
LOL...first thing I did when I got home was make sure that I had scotch tape laying around somewhere. The reverse wrap-around on the fingertip is the one technique I fail to see people use on instructional videos more often. First time I saw it on an instructional video last year, was the first time it made me feel more comfortable about installing (especially dry install, which is not as forgiving as wet install protectors).
I'm glad these came in today, so I have one more weekend day to install in my kitchen...definitely a great environment to install, with very little dust flying around (and better natural light to see little particles that try to sneak in).
BTW, the stickers on the SGP protectors are set on the top of the protector. I'm assuming you just use tape to start from the bottom?
I didn't do the scotch tape thing. I got the protector on faster than it would've taken me to find the tape.
What I tell people is before you do any peeling, place the protector on the screen. Line it up the way it should be. This visual aid will help you get it on quick because you'll see where you have to start at.
On another note, I got so tired of cleaning mine (crystal) so when I saw the crack in it, I didn't bother to replace it with the 2nd one.

Scotch tape effect is only for emergencies when lint gets trapped in. One to lift screen protector another to take lint off.
Got it almost perfect. Just realized why it always comes out slightly off. It's the way the place the Protector in the cover pieces. It's not completely straight in between those pieces, so when working it down to the bottom, what looks like it should align straight doesn't come out perfectly straight.

So Drexappeal, I have to ask - have you experienced any issues using the S-Pen with the Ultra Oleophobic screen protector? The reviews for this protector on Amazon have been brutal!

I have the Ultra Oleophobic screen protector and it was kinda sticky for the first day but now I have no issues swyping or using the S-pen. only annoying thing is the screen protector does not cover the whole display, but that's not to big of a deal.
I can confirm that the Wrapsol screen protector for GN2 does not work. It's impossible to use the s-pen with the protector, as it digs down into the semi-soft plastic.
Infact, noone should buy Wrapsol ever. I work at a cellphone-dealership and apply several of these every day. I'd say im pretty good at applying screen protectors, but i only get the Wrapsol-ones 1 in 5 times. If you get an airbubble, and try to push it out, the glue gets smerged and you get stains which you can't remove. The top-layer is also impossible to remove without lifting all of the plastic, and this sort of defeats the purpose of having a top-plastic as you have to push out airbubbles on the screen protector itself anyway.
The fact that they didn't even test the Note II protector says enough about the manufaturer and should scare off anyone who ever considered buying one.

Tried Wrapsol once, in my attempt to find a replacement for Zagg. That was the only time I've ever considered them. I'm actually very surprised that SGP hasn't tried to expand to get these exclusive deals with all the major chains. I guess it's because they don't have a big enough operation to provide protectors for more phones (only selected ones that sell the most).

I can't see why it would be annoying since the part it's not covering is the bezel.

I experienced the stickiness as well, but that went away once you wipe the screen protector with a cloth (I used a shirt). After that, I don't even need a microfiber cloth to clean. I just use a tissue and no fingerprints showing.
As for it not covering the entire screen, it was mentioned early on in this thread that it's due to Samsung's curved glass. If you look at it closely, it almost looks like there's an added glass layer before the glass gets to the edge of the phone. There's a little crevice, right before it reaches the edge of the phone. Harder to notice on the grey, but on my white Note 2, it's clearly obvious.

Me personally, I'm surprised too. But I'm very glad that they have not expanded and began an exclusive deal with a major chain. I hope that it does not change, ever. I actually don't mind purchasing their product online only. For SGP beginning a relationship with Amazon, and opening an e-store on their market, its a big deal.
We wouldn't want another Zagg would we? (I know, false analogy ) I think not! At this point even their name offends me. It has become the Z-word. Take that F-Bomb!
(speculation)
I think their operation and business model is a conscious choice on their part. Their outwardly perceived limitations may in fact be part of their strength. I think their impediment is mostly self imposed. As much as it may suck for us I can respect their choice, which in my view is, to remain lean and mean.
