Yep. If that's the true reason, I'm not annoyed. It's still a little off-putting that the DNA launches on an earlier date...before Black Friday especially when the Note 2 isn't really a "challenger" it's more a specialized device.
If it's being released at BB does that mean we can hope for it earlier than expected? The agent I talked too said if I pre ordered I'd get it before the hard launch date which is the 29th?
The girl at BB said they get shipment in Friday and they were expecting the Note2. She didnt seem so sure or even had a clue. She supposedly said "VZW doesn't have the branding on the home button" but we all know better right!
Can you imagine if they did release it WITHOUT the branding?

Hahaha! The VZW agent seemed more knowledgeable and said if it says the 27th we would be the first to get our devices if the hard launch date was the 29th. She threw in a curve ball and said they might just release same time as DNA but I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT IS EVEN PAUSIBLE FOR VERIZON'S SLOWNESS!
OT if I bat my eyes they'd chase me out due to the horror behind the glasses. Lol

I'm rooted and have loaded a customized ROM with the multiwindow stuff added.
The multiwindow stuff has even been modded so that you can use a little app to add extra applications from the chooser list that are not there on the stock version. With the stock Samsung version you are limited to what they have on the list in one window and whatever you had opened first in the other. With this custom one you can have to random apps open on the screen.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have them in stock already but aren't allowed to sell. Remember we're hitting holiday madness...I'm surprised floor models are out this early though, if they can't sell it...

Rooting and then trying to follow some instructions to do some mod can be dangerous. Lots of mods are assuming a very specific stock rom and such, but if you have something not so stock or did some other conflicting mod it can mess stuff up. Best bet is to load a custom ROM with the mods you are looking for that seems to have users reporting that everything is working well and such.
Then with VZW and locked and encrypted boot loaders you get further danger until some very well thought out work arounds that everyone understands are developed or the BL is unlocked by luck somehow. This was another reason I left Verizon. More open bootloader devices are available on TMo.

If it doesn't come unlocked I'm sure i can get verizon to give me the unlock code, the issue is i need to know if it's even capable of being used on global gsm bands? otherwise i have to get the dna because i travel internationally quite a bit

When I pre ordered my SGN2... The agent asked if I would be traveling internationally and I said yes so he included an international sim of some sort

Last time pre-orders arrived to some 2-3 days before the ship date.
Wonder if I'll see before Thanks Giving? They'd have to ship like on the 20-21st to be there before Thursday. Na, probably not.

The last time I pre ordered my iPhone from VZW that's what they did but this one I ordered from a premium retailer so if they ship it on the 27th to the retailer location I'd get my phone later than everyone correct? The guy said they do all the activation stuff at the store and I'd have to go there to pick up? Sorry if this is confusing.

I can't say for certain, but you will proably get it the same day as general release or maybe a day later depending on when the shipper gets to the store. If the store gets their shipment early in the day, then you could probably get it that afternoon. It's rare that someone gets one of these preorders early because VZW has a deal with FedEx (their normal shipper) to do 2 day shipping and not deliver early (even if the device has to sit at the local FedEx distribution center overnight).

Ya, the more I compare to the DNA, the more I like the Note 2. Jack of all trades, no limitations, no compromise (almost).

captive buttons not taking screen space, check.
Quad core, check.
JB, check. (Can't believe new phone are still releasing ICS with TWO updates missing. (Droid Razr).
JB 2.2, unfortunately.
2gb ram, check.
A great camera, check. Some just plain old suck (razr, nexus, etc)

The inking experience with the s-pen is the best you can get on the phone, but it wasn't as good as my samsung slate at home. Hoping I'll be able to get a different pen and calibrate it. Same digitizer technology. Still...I'm in love.

Just placed my pre-order today. Had to wait until today for the upgrade. I thought about the DNA briefly, but I need more than 11GB of usable internal storage, and I really want the S pen for writing quick notes when I'm on the phone. I already have a belt clip and full body protector (from Phantom Skinz) at home for when my baby arrives....

My dad is chomping at the bit to get his hands on the Droid DNA, I tell him he's crazy. He has a Droid Bionic right now and he wants to upgrade to either that or the Droid Razr HD/HD Maxx.
I was busy practicing the motion controls for the Note II on a GS3. My favorite has to be either the double tap on the top to scroll to the top of a list or the touch and move around a picture one.
On Wednesday I don't have school so we're going to go to the Verizon store so my dad can play with a DNA *sigh*
