I was tapping right on the middle of the top, right above the earpiece
In case? Or out?
Got it! Went to the "Learn about motions" section and did the demo. I couldn't get it to work because it doesn't work in all apps. And of course I was trying in apps out doesn't work in.
Thanks Corey

At this point I am just looking forward to the news of official release date confirmation, with training for employees and all of that stuff that usually trickles out on the mobile tech news sites. We have yet to see that. I'm betting this week if not early next week we'll start to see that. Anyway.. it will go quick enough with the holiday in the middle of it all to keep us preoccupied.. even if we wish we had the holiday to play with it.
Verizon sucks! What's the point of pre ordering when we'll receive our devices same day as others who purchase in store! Ugh despise them! They should at least ship then before the 27th!
Went to best buy and played with it tonight. Love the display. Touchwiz and icons are ugly but can be easily resolved. The inking experience with the s-pen is the best you can get on the phone, but it wasn't as good as my samsung slate at home. Hoping I'll be able to get a different pen and calibrate it. Same digitizer technology. Still...I'm in love.
Come on verizon jerks!
The only annoying thing is I'm not sure if some Launchers will let the S-Note stuff work. Do we have any confirmation on what S-Apps work regardless of the launcher used?

It would only be acceptable if they SHIPPED so that the day it hits stores it arrives at your house. That's really the idea. And if you're "pre-ordering" you're not getting any benefit...really. You're "guaranteed" one on launch day...well you probably are in store too lol

AHHHHHHHH! So close. Had a nice weekend home and at the friends' wedding. Here in Rochester for 3 days, then I fly home Wednesday night! Good weekend, and I can distract myself with the gf, food, movies, shopping and then hopefully just a few more days then!

Waiting for VZW Note
Carrier: Not Provided

After waiting over a year for the Note, because I am a VZW user, AT&T is arriving at more areas close to me and I am tempted to switch. Already, if you can believe the coverage maps, my area in South FL (Delray-Boynton) is better covered by AT&T LTE than VZW. In my area on Long Island, there is no LTE but the dark blue edge is about 7 miles west from me. Problem is, how do you know how good the signal is even at the edge of the LTE best coverage without knowing where and how powerful the cell is?
You all want the Note 2 on day 1. I've been waiting since September 2011 & I wonder if the carriers and or Samsung will have special deals because they all are in huge competition. We need an S3 for my wife and a Note 2 for me. I can wait till December after waiting 14 months. What do you all suspect will happen? When we got our BB Storm 2s we got 2 for the price of 1. With new generations of phones changing every 6 months, who wants to pay $300 for a phone?
Final thought is, I think I am better off switch to AT&T from VZW first and if the signal and phone reception is no good, come back to VZW. If I go to VZW for an upgrade and then cancel it, I will have a huge billing problem as they will bill me $350 for returning a phone early, as they did once before. They do what they can to not remove these charges or do them right in the first place.
I'd be in a corner crying. You still haven't tried talking your dad into giving it to you before Christmas?
Why should he sit in a corner and cry? Someone is buying him a phone for free. Probably paying his bill also. He has nothing to cry about and plenty to be thankful for. My parents always made me buy my own phones.

I didn't say anything about Corey sitting in a corner crying.
I currently own a Droid RAZR (no, not the MAXX - since Verizon strategically released that phone 3 weeks after the RAZR to trap, er I mean, "keep" as many people with the RAZR on contract as they could [some call it evil, I call it marketing genius]) and for what it's worth, I just got a little happier about my wait for the GN2 from Big Red. Why do you ask? Well, I just realized that my company offers a stock purchase plan benefit that I didn't even know I was enrolled in.
Long story short, was able to sell a handful of shares to get enough cash for pay full retail for the phone plus have some $ for accessories. So I'm not agonizing about it anymore - I'll be able to stroll into my local store and purchase my white GN2 without any hiccups on launch day.
That being said, if anyone has a friend who wants a pretty new looking Droid RAZR, let me know!
Anyone else wake up every morning and first thing they do is check for a shipment email? After this I'm going to need some rehab lol!
::rocking under cubicle desk::
Lol not checking for an email but I AM checking the status pretty often. I should just know it's going to be 6 days until it ships, and 8 until I have it. GAH.
At least it's a long weekend filled with fun and I can keep my mind off of it.
So I've never pre-ordered a phone through Verizon before and no CS rep can seem to answer this question for me.
I pre-ordered the Note 2 earlier this morning and received a confirmation email/number right away, but my bank account still has not been affected. Does Verizon charge right away or do they wait until it ships? Or is this just some delay until they get around to processing the order in full?
Also, how reliable is Verizon with the ship by date? I don't expect my device to come on 11/27 like the page says but I hope it'll at least ship on that day. I've heard stories of some people not receiving any shipping info on ship by dates for pre-ordered or back-ordered phones, but this seems to be hit or miss from what I can tell.
I guess I'm just wondering what to expect. Thanks and +rep will be given of course

I came in a week ago or so knowing my Thunderbolt was due up soon and was just going to get an S3. Some research found me trying to decide between the Note 2 and DNA LOL
Went to a T-Mobile shop today to check out the Note 2 in person. Swung by the Verizon store to see the DNA on the way home. While I'm flip flopping like a politician, I think I've decided on the Note 2. The DNA has a great screen, but I think Note 2 just has too many features over it.
Now to try and talk myself off the ledge when it comes to the loss of my unlimited data and figure out which plan to get. Slightly confusing online, might actually have to buy it in store.
Device(s): Formerly a Droid X, now a Galaxy Note 2
Carrier: Big Red

In a lot of unboxing and review videos I've watched, the GN2 comes with a set of headphones. However on Verizon's website I see nothing about them at all. Does anyone know for sure? It's not a deal breaker by any means, I was just curious.

This was actually brought up once before as none of the carrier websites mention it, but it should come w/ a pair of white earbuds as they have w/ other carriers.
Correction : AT&T customers did not get ear buds.

Haven't seen you on the thread in awhile! I figured you've given up on this device!
No..just tired of waiting really. Coming over to the Note 2 forums is just a constant reminder of everyone else ( other carriers ) having the device, but us Verizon folks Usually I get more excited when threads like these start, but now having gone thru this twice in 6 months I guess my excitement just turned to frustration. Verizon was the last of the major carriers to release the S3 & now again w/ the Note 2.

AT&T customers did not get earphones. Instead they got that disgusting orange box.
Damn shame they even had to mess with the packaging.

doesn't it suck as the release date gets ever closer seeing all the discounted deals on this phone on all the other carriers. by the end of next week who knows what deals the other carriers may offer.
I edited my post. It wasn't the place for the comment I made.
I do feel for you guys. I got tired of waiting for Verizon to release the phone and went to ATT. Worked out for me. Got the phone sooner, faster 4g in my area compared to tests done on my friends MAXX HD, and my wife gets a larger discount through ATT that I did with Sprint, and would have got with Verizon.
Hold on. The wait is almost over, and trust me, it's worth it.
I kept peeking in this thread looking at everyone waiting on pins and needles for this phone, thinking "wow that's crazy, it's just a phone, stressing over it won't make the date come any sooner." Turns out the feeling is mutual and contagious. I can't wait for next week. I went to best buy and showed the dummy phone to my wife, she thinks I won't last a week with it and that it looks ridiculous. It is, apparently, the mid life crisis of smartphones. I'm excited to prove her wrong.
I had play with DNA today at store. Other than gorgeous high resolution screen I'm not terribly impressed with it. Just felt like a little bigger, faster One X. Compared to GS3, Razr HD on display next to it, it didn't feel that super quick like reviews/forums make it out to be. I'm anxiously waiting on Note 2 on verizon next week.

I went and played with the DNA today and I found that it was very fast. Screen switching was even faster and smoother than the Note 2, but the lack of expandable storage and the dated looking Sense are things keeping me from buying that phone. The size of it was better for me though and that screen was awesome looking.
I read on another forum that someone used a VZW Note II in Best Buy and that VZW has gimped the continuous scrolling of app/widget screen and homescreen and instead had a rubber banding effect when you reach the end. Can anyone near a Best Buy confirm this?
I was looking so forward to this phone but I'm getting increasingly sick of VZW's bs with phones. Between the home button, release delay, locked bootloader, persistent wifi notifications and now the rumored continuous scrolling thing, I'm ready to jump ship to AT&T.
Announced at IFA 2012, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 follows its predecessor with a focus on creativity. The device improves the experience by adding more S-Pen functionality and new-generation specs, not to mention the slightly larger 5.5-inch display... Read More
