Either way it's still cheaper. Plus you may have a friend or family member who could take over the line and pay their share at some point. And if not it's another line that will have an upgrade that you can use
agreed. i did this exact thing before. and it worked great. i just found one day that i was paying extra in tax so i wanted to point it out. its a great way to get what you want

Damn, I'm just now finding out about this whole 'extra line and keeping my unlimited data plan' thing. My dad and I upgraded my phone online and I had to pick the 2BG option and lose my unlimited. It's a sad day but I know he wouldn't have wanted to go through all the extra fuss. I'm pretty conservative with my data now, but that's only so my battery doesn't die halfway through the day. I'll be using the hell out of my Note 2 so I hope my usage doesn't get out of control.

I was at Walmart tonight and asked about the Note 2 and they did not have it but they did have the $100 gift card promotion. I asked the guy and he looked at a release schedule and said that he does not have any info about it.
They do carry the Note 1 for $99...

Two more days till the suppose shipment date! We'll see tho its VZW. I'm hoping no later than Friday, otherwise I'm really canceling my plan and start a boycott with everyone I know!

Make sure you go to My Verizon and setup your data limit warnings so that you will get a text if you are approaching your limit.
So I've usually only bought my phone directly in VZW stores, when they ship it to me it will come with the MicroSIM and everything right?
And then is it as easy as going to the site and changing the device on my MyVerizon page, or can I just do it directly by powering on the phone? I'd love to avoid going to the store if possible.

No need to have to go to the store. You should just be able to turn your old device off and the new one on and all be well with the world! :-)
They include a little instruction paper on how to activate the device, so worst case would be you have to call a CSR VZW's 800 number for help...
Yeah the last time I did a hand-activation myself was the Thunderbolt, and I had to call up...and it was the corporate account for my job anyways.
I think once I had to get a different SIM because I had like the LTE one but it wasn't the new micro. Hopefully I just have to turn it on...there's no *228 or whatever anymore on LTE ;P
my order page says "EXPECTED Ship date" but when you look up the phone to pre-order it says "WILL ship by 11/27".
Who knows? I actually hope it ships or Walmart gets it first I will cancel my vzw order and order it through walmart and get the $100 GC per phone. I am buying 2 of them.
I ordered one of the Mercury cases, I'll let you know how it works out. I may only use it temporarily...it was only $5 lol. If I need a Seidio battery I'll likely not need it!
The only pro I see in this is, we've gotten to know one another through our torturous sufferings lol!
@Petie....I've received my mob c TPU case so I'm thinking the mercury will be similar to that. The feel is good and decent protection I think my mercury's should be in today if not tomorrow

That is certainly true...smartphone, whether 3G or LTE, is no different; smartphone to "feature" phone is a difference...but mainly in just no data plan is typically required...

For what it's worth. I just ordered a gray one (business account) and it still says ship by 11-27...BUT, when I look at the order status it says PENDING. This is a good sign because my order from 10-25 was saying AWAITING INVENTORY right up until it dropped off the list (only the last 30 days orders are available to view for a business).
FYI - Someone on the Verizon forum talked to Best Buy and the guy told him the phones are to be received tonight and released tomorrow. Also, folks who pre-ordered are starting to see the charge on the phone. Verizon says the phone has "shipped".
I'm getting nervous now. Just did a rep chat on the VZW site.
They're saying it will ship tomorrow...but I never got an email confirmation when I did my order after midnight on 10/24.
Did anyone else receive an email confirmation after placing their preorder? When I use my reference # the info comes up on the site...but I still never got an email confirmation. I'm getting paranoid.
Everyone - call your local Best Buy and speak to someone in the mobile department.
Ask if it will be available tomorrow and how many units they have.
Post results.
UPDATE: I just called mine and they said, "The truck just pulled up and if they are on the truck, they will be available. Call back around 8 to find out."
