This phone is a BLOCKBUSTER. This forum is great. I've printed out dozens of pages showing tip, etc. Let's work hard to keep this going. we're all going to have questions moving forward. This is a very helpful group. Keep up the good work, and thanks.

We will have to turn this thread into a post release thread.

I'm still on the fence here. But I'm curious as to the stock of the stores and the interest!

I'll probably go check it out at lunch tomorrow and my ADD will kick in and I'll probably just buy it

Many of the reviews claim this app causes the phone to stay awake. Looks like it began after an update and hasn't been fixed yet. How's it working for you?

Funny, I went by a Verizon store, today to see if I could look at one. The manager said they probably wouldn't have any for a couple if weeks. That was in Daphne.

I may have missed it but I didn't see anyone mention that I couldn't go into a store tomorrow and pay full price to retain my unlimited data. I am being told that the retail stores will only sell contract phones........SO......I now had to place the order online and won't get my now until Friday. ugh.

I think I would've just waited til tomorrow, went to the store and bought one. Had they said you couldn't then I would've went the order route.

I've never had this problem and he widget remains in a homescreen. I'll look into that though but really the wifi hotspot is what I'd use it for now. Or airplane mode which I think is easily accessed now from that quick lull down menu

If I can CHOOSE my carrier, it's UPS only. They're straight up, deliver at the same time every time and they don't screw around. The guys I've had deliver my stuff over the years are always nice and courteous. The FedEx residential guys are buttheads, they're never pleasant. It's so weird.

My husband says it's a generally acknowledged problem with FedEx. It's not just us, it's the way they seem to run that company. Poorly.

----

Oh and come to think of it. My husband used to live in an apartment with his mom when we were teenagers and his FedEx guy ran door to door, I mean running his ass off with packages. I think if they're fast at delivering stuff, maybe they get some kind of bonus stuff. Crazy people. What happens if he trips on the sidewalk and it's fragile? Oh, wasn't him who broke that vase. :P
Part of the issue is that FedEx Ground and Home Delivery employees aren't actually employees of FedEx at all. In many regions of the country (if not all), they are contract employees, often of a small business that's nothing more than a FedEx franchisee. I know FedEx has been catching some crap for that arrangement recently, but it doesn't appear to be going anywhere any time soon.

Me personally, I prefer dealing with UPS over FedEx for ground shipments. After all, UPS is the one with the ground network. Sure, FedEx has a ground network- but that's far from their specialty. Functionally speaking, the two companies are very different despite similar service offerings.

... but I shouldn't say any of this too loudly seeing as FedEx is (I believe) the largest employer here behind the government (of course) and the city schools.

Can anyone that has received their Verizon Note 2 confirm that this Samsung widget at the top is missing? On the demo I played with at best buy it was missing so just wanted to confirm its missing on the officially released phones.

For those who don't know it will be called Digital Clock in the widgets. I saw there was a dual one but not the single one like shown in the screen shot.

@ Mix I know you said Verizon but I've got a Sprint Note 2 and it's there. In your post you called it Digital Clock. In the phone is called Clock Digital.

Maybe it's just named different

Mine hit Memphis Tennessee last night and is in Rochester this morning! It'll be at the hotel by 3pm but I won't have it till about 515ish meh!

So I guess it should be pretty easy to activate...just power on hopefully andi won't have to call VZW !

Excited. Got a phone cal from the store last night letting me know they were in and going on sale today. Going to pick it up at lunch. And then... back to work projects. Will have to go through all the online user guides this weekend.

On a side note, anybody want to buy an HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus or Sprint HTC Evo?

Man FedEx is really slow, eh? Stuff coming via UPS tends to already be on a truck and on its way by 5:30am. It's almost 8am here and it's still sitting in a facility somewhere close by. I wish I could just go pick it up.

Well I had a dream (or was it a nightmare) last night that they shipped me the wrong phone...it was a Galaxy Note 1 but it had like a 3" bezel, and the screen was centered in the middle looking like the outside tiny screen of one of those old flip phones lol.

Then again Drop Dead Fred was also in my dream.

Default Got mine

Picked up a grey GN2 at the local VZ store about 10 minutes after opening this morning. There was another guy looking at the GN2 when I got there. They have a nice kickstand cover, but it doesn't belt-clip, so I skipped. They also had flip-cover cases, but only in white. I passed on that...I'll wait for something better. I haven't had much time to play yet, but it does fit in the pocket...and GMaps is much more pleasant to use on this massive screen. I'll be using GNavigation this afternoon...don't have a way to secure it in the car yet

Only bad thing I have to say so far is that Samsung accessories suck compared to Motorola. The desk stand and car holder for my OG Droid still rock.

I just waltzed right into Verizon and got my mature Note 2 and my wife picked up her baby iPhone 5.

I used her iPhone for a couple minutes to check out the new features and then the old set in very quickly.

I'm coming from iPhone as well so I have a lot of mess with later. I've kept the phone in the box so that I can stay focused on work and putting up Christmas lights.

:-)

Can't you just buy a vehicle dock from a third party store/different carrier? It's not like these devices are different in build.

Got a call from the Verizon Wireless Executive Relations team about my pre-order debaucle. They're crediting me full shipping for their screw up, so all I'm really paying for is the full price phone lol thankfully.

I should see if I can get some free spare chargers outta da deal!

This is my favorite stand I've used at all my jobs.

Upright or landscape, and you can easily plug in the charger anywhere.

Did Verizon have Samsung make that change or was this just a Note 2 thing in general?

I just got back from my local Verizon corporate store. I returned my S3 for the N2. They said they got 20 of each color. The non corporate stores probably got one or two.

Hi all,
Been following this thread for awhile now and finally picked up my white gn2 this morning at the local Verizon store. Been an iPhone user since the first one so this will be quite a change however I am looking forward to it. I wish I could spend some more time with it today, but unfortunately/fortunately I have a round of golf to get to in an hour . Just want to thank the forum members on here for all the insightful resources and tips!
Hope everyone enjoys their new toy!
cheers

Just take it golfing!

You will have time to play with it in the cart while your partner drives around the course.

Don't know but I'm assuming Samsung. .. Also I think they did away with their calendar widget, which I used to love on the gs3

I was very disappointed that the calendar widget was not on board too. It was one of my favorite things on my S3.

Hmmm where is that menu located? It seems like a different place than I was looking. I was looking in the app drawer widgets menu.

Go to the play store. There are a lot of good calendar and clock widgets available there.

Mine got here about an hour ago. I am so smitten and overwhelmed. I love it.

It's amazing the things this phone already does that my iPhone 4s never had a chance in hell at doing. :P

Welp, I'm on my break and no Note 2 still. I don't know why I pre-order anything online anymore.

Just got back to work with mine! dang work getting in the way of me playing with my new phone. this thing is sooooooo sweet. going to take forever to figure out how to use everything. anyone know how to permanently write on picture. I pull down the corner and can write but it doesnt apply it to the picture so i can send the picture with the writing on it to someone.

1:41 and still not delivered. I'm pretty sure I could have walked a block from my office and bought one during my lunch break, lol!

Ah well, anticipation is always good!

This is on Sprints Note 2. Why would Verizon remove a clock widget? Like everything else they probably have their own with a big V in the middle.
Ok....I couldn't resist that one.

Awww if they removed the clock widget, then how can we play the "how many clocks do you have on your homescreen" game?

2:00 and the Fedex truck that starts its route 2 miles from here is still absent. I have waited for months, but these last two hours have been ridiculous!!

Yeah, I sadly don't see that in my Widget bar. That blows, because I like that clock. Saw it on my cousins SG3 (or something similar). BLEH.

(Thankfully, I apparently bought Beautiful Widgets when I owned my Fascinate and can use them on my Note 2 - so at least I'll have clocks to choose from!)
