Can't you just buy a vehicle dock from a third party store/different carrier?
Apparently that's what I'll need to do.

I don't understand what you mean - the GN2 is different in every dimension from every other phone made, AFAIK. My Droid fit in it's car dock and desk stand perfectly. The car dock was incredibly secure and effortless to remove. If it had charging built-in, it would have been perfection. The Droid literally drops into the desktop dock with absolutely no effort (with built-in charging) and to remove it, you simply pick it up and go. I've seen other phones in universal docks... If you haven't had something that fit as well as the Droid with it's docks, then you wouldn't understand. Everything I've seen thus far is a step down.

But I'll see what I can find.
I was talking about compared to other G Note 2 devices. Other carriers and retailers have had vehicle and desk docks available since the phone has been out. Why rely on Verizon when you don't have to? All the Galaxy Note 2 devices on all the different cares are the exact same in build quality so there should be no reason to wait on them. Sorry if my post was a bit unclear.
Sigh I'm stuck at work while my device is waiting for me at the VZW store why do I have to be like an hour and half away from home today! my bf is picking up my phone for me tho, just gotta stay calm till I'm home.

Mine got here about an hour ago. I am so smitten and overwhelmed. I love it.
It's amazing the things this phone already does that my iPhone 4s never had a chance in hell at doing. :P
Looking forward to replacing my 4S as my primary phone. Will keep it around to use as an iPod Touch but looking forward to doing more with the Note II.
I drove to the next state to get mine tax free NH, I went with gray, I wanted white but they had none and I really liked the grey better now that I saw it up close.
I have 4 people on my account, so the verizon rep did a upgrade transfer (only on the computer) from one number to another (that had 2 gig data) then the sales rep put my siii sim in the note 2 on my unlimited data plan, and put the new sim in the siii, on the 2 gig plan. Everything seems great, just checked and my data is still unlimited
He also told my that I have till jan 13 (or 15th) to return it, due to buying it now, before xmass. I don't know how true that is but if the 32 gig comes out I might take him up on that....
Also none of my apps restored maybe due to I had 32 gig siii and zoom, but good anyway cause this way I don't load every game I had on the 32, more room now and maybe this 16 gig will do, time will tell.

I am using my iPhone 4s to fund the purchase of the Note 2's upgrade fee. Going to sell it for $400, in original box, with it's headphones, original adapter & cable, plus a case and a bumper. Pretty sure I'll get my asking price. Plus my phone is like new!
But I am so glad I replaced it. It's already made such a change and I've only had it for one day thus far. I love this thing.

Who, specifically, is carrying an oem vehicle/nav dock?
I have not seen one on other carriers or the samsung usa site.
no wireless charging contacts...booo
good thing i didn't buy the parts for it
That's a bummer. I was kind of hoping to play around with it and see if I could get it to work with the new wireless charging stations at Starbucks. (Different wireless standards, but hey, it's always fun to tinker).
While there are those who can get down with 'any ole universal dock' many of us actually want one specific to our phone that charges at the same time. I don't want to buy a whole bunch of stuff just to become Bob the Builder and do it myself.
I went and got mine at a Verizon store. I am loving it so far. I now own a galaxy note 2 and an iphone 5. We will see how much I like it over the iphone 5. The rep said I have until January 14th to return it since it's close to Christmas. NICE!!!!

My other phone return/buy says the 15th IIRC. I chatted with VZW today and I can return, pay restock, and buy another phone as much as I want to!
I just might pull the trigger here.
SO:
-----------
Saw a post about split screen being broken. Saw some other bloggers saying google wouldn't allow it to be split screen on the OEM sale, so we need an OTA.
Does split screen work or not? If not an OTA will take FOREVER with VZW.
i got to play with a verizon version tuesday at best buy and i Love it. im big into tech ( computers and phones ) so the quad core/ 2gb ram is just awesome!
ill be coming from my 3.5yr old droid X that is beat to Sh*t laggy, reboots, 2 huge black spots on the screen bla bla.
so i cant wait to pick mine up. its gonna be a long day at work tomorrow

I have 8 apps in my multiview bar, including super video which placed itself there when I installed it.
The dev added support for multiview on the 24th.

so you cant use multi view with EVERY app? only the ones on the side? I cant seem to get more apps to appear on the left side
got it anddd loving it! cant remember if i read this here or not but i remember reading something about how to remove alot of garbage and make the phone quicker when you first start using it. anyone remember seeing that here?? ill keep looking. but think it would be great to clear alot of garbage out first.
p.s. got the verizon white 16gb and verizon has pretty much no cases. got a good one at at&t store its a casemate white one and it was 38 bucks but works well

The fact that super video added itself to the bar implies the apps have to be coded to support multiview, even though some have seen YouTube and/or chrome on other devices.
Of course there are hacks for rooted devices too.

There is a way. over in xda, the devs have managed to get quite a few apps to be working in multi-view. Whether that method works on the Verizon version, i don't know. The same with mods listed on galaxynote2root.com.
Disclaimer: Some if not all of these are for different versions (Sprint, International, etc) I am only listing them to show that work is progressing on making multi-view have more apps and customized. Since xda has different sections (Sprint, Verizon, AT7T), you may need to look around.

We don't have blocking mode. Why would they have removed that? To keep you sucking down data while asleep?
Wow you are right. It makes no sense. They actually try to get people off their network which is why we have the persistent wifi notification. The more I see that Verizon has crippled this device the more I want to return it.

Announced at IFA 2012, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 follows its predecessor with a focus on creativity. The device improves the experience by adding more S-Pen functionality and new-generation specs, not to mention the slightly larger 5.5-inch display... Read More
