I've already neglected a lot of my duties being on the forums the last couple of days. My anti-geek husband doesn't understand and I've gotten a few lectures, even by text message. Haha
If you recall I wasn't even 100% sure I was going to get it, but I decided to go ahead and take the Samsung plunge. I think getting used to the whole Samsung experience is going to be more time consuming than getting use to Jelly Bean, I see a lot of things I like already over Sense. I didn't even sign into Google to load my contacts until 30 minites ago, and I'm trying to get a good feel for stock everything before I load apps. I feel like I need to be open to the changes and this is the best way to do just that. I really really really miss my cursors though, that may be the first thing I have to do.
Sighhhh.. I guess I need to stop playing and get busy, so I'm going to go read a few more posts and then get to work.
More to come... Note 2 lover signing off for now!
Well... I did the dirty deed today and returned my Note 2 and restored my account to pre-upgrade. Although Sprint does have LTE here in Houston and I had no issues with signal at home, we went to our deer lease this weekend and 3g wasn't even always strong. I didn't have that issue with my Evo, so I'm guessing the weaker Samsung radios are a factor in that equation.
There was another guy on the ranch that had AT&T GS3 and his signal was strong. Sooo, because the phone is my deciding factor along with coverage, I felt like defecting was the right choice for me. It was SO hard to return the phone, but to be within the 14 days, I didn't want to push it and did it 2 days early.
Back to my Evo until Friday. Man this thing is tiny!!! Haha
Can I still visit in the Sprint section though? Gonna miss some of you.

All good. We all need to go with our personal needs and if Sprint signal is that bad, where you need it, then best move for you is to go to another carrier. You're still getting the note 2, whichever one you decide on, right?

Woops, left part of the post out when I was previewing it. I'll be in the AT&T store Friday for a new one. Husband and kids have their phones through them, so it will be cheaper to just add me there. Another benefit will be no cross-carrier loss of voice quality since all of them and all of my extended family have AT&T.

And Drex, OF COURSE I'll still get the Note 2!
Girl, you're too much. Can you still visit us......you're switching carriers, not leaving the forums.....sheesh.
I caught that when you said Evo til Fri.
Oh man it feels great to be back on androidforums! I've been away for about a year and a half. Missed android like crazy, but that will soon to change on Dec 2nd when I get my Note 2. Tried it out on Sunday at the Sprint store and was a little intimidated, but I need that huge battery in my life and the display and fluidity of Jelly Bean is AMAZING! Hopefully by Dec 2nd otterbox cases will be available on their site. Can't take any chances with this monster. So good to be back!

Funny. I just finished looking at the homescreen thread over at S3 forums. Nope....no part your homescreen thread here yet.
Hey thank you for the info on the homescreen. I'll go check out the S3 forums. I decided to switch from my Evo to the iPhone for storage space, battery life and other features I felt my Evo was lacking at the time. Now I am ready for some LTE action which my 4S lacks and I miss Android like crazy. My mother just upgraded to the S2 last night and she held her phone up to mine and said "awe look at the little baby". Yes its bad when your 70 year old mother makes fun of your phone. She said she never could understand my obsession with technology until she held her phone for the first time. She is hooked on Android now (she had a Samsung Gravity prior). So needless to say I am tired of the size of my iPhone and the lack of customization. As I was setting up my mothers phone I was so jealous and Dec 2nd seems so far off even though its less than a month. Sorry for the long explanation

Haha yeah I'll still be around the forum, but no mo Spank Now Network threads. I feel like a traitor leaving them after almost 16 years.
Still laughing at adjusting back to this teensy screen!

And THIS is exactly what I mean by carrier loyalty. You own them nothing. You've already given them 16 yrs of your life. When a phone cant work where you need it the most, it's time to do something different.
Besides, you're at the deer park with no reception. What if the deer needed to make a call?

I got my Note 2 exactly a month ago today, and I'm still in the honeymoon stage with this phone. I love waking up to it, and discovering something new I couldn't do before with a previous smartphone. Sorry to sound like such a loon, but you may find yourself doing this as well.
Anyone mind sharing their favorite sites to get SN2 wallpapers? Thanx!
I use PicSpeed HD Wallpapers to get my wallpapers. Stop going to sites looking for decent wallpaper when I realized most of what was being posted like it was created by the poster was actually coming from this app.
got my note 2 about 5 days ago,I love this phone probably the best phone I have ever owned. it is the reason I will be more active on the forums instead of looking

iCackled!
My mom is 66 and you couldn't pry her S2 our of her hands even if you tried!! She loves it!!!

I'm telling you our mothers are something else. Is this your mothers first smartphone? All my mother did was text and she thought she was doing something. Since she had her S2, she has downloaded apps, finally learned how to send picture mail, checking her email, and uploading music. I can't believe this is the same woman who always frowned upon my obsession with technology and now shes a geek! Can't tell her nothing now.

Yes, this is her first smartphone.
It's funny because when she was looking for a smartphone, I suggested an iPhone, (I know, I know...bad ren857...LOL) only because it's simpler to use and there isn't much to explain. She refused and stated that she wanted the same phone that I had (I had the S2 at the time). LOL! Before she got the S2, she was a minor texter. Now, she texts all the time. She takes pics mostly of my one-year old son. She doesn't really use email, but she does download different apps. She loves her phone!
We are trying to convince my dad to come on board, but for some reason, he thinks smartphones with large screens are for women even after both my mom and I tell him that it's not true. My uncles and my husband all carry smartphones. BUT, he plays with my mom's phone a lot!! LOL!! He's 68 and he's a trip!!!

Funny story....here's another.....
When I was getting my S2 an older lady (looked to be about 65) came into the Sprint store, walked over to the display of phones and began playing. She was TERRIFIED. Every time she touched the screen of the S2 and the phone responded, she literally jumped 50 ft across the other side of the store.
Me being me started laughing. I was curious to see how long she was going to keep at it. Believe me, watching her fly was hilarious. After a while she left the S2 and sauntered on over to the 4S. She wasn't jumping away from it each time she touched it......So, I'm thinking she found her comfort zone.
Next thing I know, they're ringing up a black S2 for her.....I was amazed that's the phone she picked. While I'm waiting for my transaction to complete, she's now sitting on one of the benches texting her ass off. She was a bit slow but she was doin' da dayum thing! She made my lil android heart proud!
When I was leaving she was still sitting there texting. I wonder if they had to call last call to get her out of there.
there is NO mention of a NOTE2 deal... so i am guessing there will be no deals..
I didn't think it was likely so I bought one and I still don't think it will be likely. It was hard as heck to find one in a retail store as it was. I got the last one they had of their second shipment. I wanted white but didn't want to waste time on a third shipment. If you haven't ordered a protective case, order one now before you get the phone. I hate the flip case and those were in stock but the more corner protective full case was sold out. It's a big phone yet thin so I can see how it'd be more susceptible to flexing and glass cracking as has been reported. Get a stiff case if you want some extra piece of mind.

I wouldn't hold your hopes on it, but just to give you that little inkling of hope, Amazon had crazy deals last year where they offered phones for a penny, including some barely released phones (The one that sticks out in my head is the Bionic being offered for a penny and it had barely been released).
If there's a place I'd keep my eye out on, it'd be Amazon. If I don't have my phone by this weekend, I may just hold out for Black Friday, just to see if Amazon pulls that same routine again. I'll pay the penny to upgrade to the Note 2 from Amazon and just save all my Best Buy gift cards for the smaller Note tablet (whenever it's released) whenever it's released next year.
I got one of my friends to upgrade today from his old Evo to the S'Note. He went with titanium gray. Honestly I didn't believe he was going to get the phone at all because he's been upgrading in his head each time something hot comes out and never gets it.

Lol thats great. I would've hollered every time she jumped. I guess she found a little excitement she haven't had in a while with the S2 .

Well, looks like I should have a Galaxy Note 2 by Tuesday night, 11/13, (at the latest)...that is, the International Note 2 I ordered should reach me by then. I'm just crossing my fingers Best Buy gets stock in of my pre-order (and hopefully, a grey version they can sell me instead) this weekend. If not, I'll at least be going with my dedicated media player...LOL.
You're right. But now he's going to be a P.I.T.A. like he was with his Evo.
He's the type who wants you to show him how to do everything instead of trying on his own.....so I gave him a gift. Started to give him one of my cases but have him the user manual and a 32GB card. I might still give him a case....New baby so he's broke and buying this phone was a big expense for him.

I may go MIA on the boards for a couple weeks once I do get it though...LOL.
I'm just glad I'll have the International one to Root and load up custom ROM's (for the first time ever since moving to Android). Knowing me though, I'll likely be so OCD about making sure I know exactly how to get back to a completely stock, non-rooted phone with the OEM ROM. I just don't like jumping into anything like this, unless I know exactly how to get back to square 1 (in the event anything goes wrong).
Announced at IFA 2012, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 follows its predecessor with a focus on creativity. The device improves the experience by adding more S-Pen functionality and new-generation specs, not to mention the slightly larger 5.5-inch display... Read More
