Oh my yes you are lucky. I know you prefer to be caseless, is that still the case? (See what I did there?)....

My compromise is to use a CaseMate Tough for good protection without adding too much bulk. Then, when I'm out and about, the phone with case fits perfectly inside a Coach Zippy Wallet. The Coach wallet is a wristlet with card slots. This way I get wallet functionality but the phone is well protected. It's slightly bulkier than one of the wallet cases, but not by too much.
Great Case-mate tough review!!!

Just got my note 2 and have a gel case atm.
It's terrible as the cut outs are tiny and I can't even use the spen while using the case as it's slightly coveted!

This Blue/grey case-mate looks brilliant with good cut outs and some proper protection of needed.

Cheers

Your comment about the battery cover made me think about the fact that's the one item no one ever seems to buy an extra for those just in case moments.

My battery cover sits in a drawer somewhere. Using Samsung hardshell meant I could leave the battery door off and have quick access when swapping batteries.

I used to have an Otterbox Commuter. And yes it was good but it was pricey and made the phone very bulky. Also, it would get in the way of the screen protector and cause it to crinkle up at the top. I was browsing Amazon and came across this case and absolutely love it. Does it's job, it's thin, and keeps the normal shape of the phone and keeps it light.

Amazon.com: SQ1 [Mercury] Slim Fit Flexible TPU Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Blue): Cell Phones & Accessories

They have them in pretty much any color you want and got great reviews. Good to know there are cases out there that are very inexpensive and do the job as good as these overpriced ones you see at the retail stores.

Yeah I'm always very careful with my phones. At certain heights, doesn't matter which case you have, something is going to break on the phone. I'll take that risk to not have to put up with a huge bulky case like Otterboxes.

I'm very careful but decided to get the case-mate tough case as it looks study workout to much bulk.
I have 2 kids so it might save my phone if one of them grabs it without me knowing lol

I also got phone insurance for the 1st time ever with this phone!
If it breaks I want it replaced

I was using a really cute wallet case purchased from eBay. However, I was really concerned about dropping the phone while talking on it and while the flap was not closed. The case slid off my bed once and the phone popped out landing a few feet away. Thank goodness it landed on an area rug!

Tried rubber/hardshell case from eBay. Onc again, not enough protection at the corners and and not enough of a lip to protect the screen.

Saw a great review here for the UAG. What a great case!!! Not too bulky and very stylish. I have the white one. I have been getting compliments since I started using it. My husband bought the Galaxy III yesterday and begged me to order the same case for him.

By the way, phone slipped off the bed again onto my wood floor. Other than a loud thump, the phone was fine. UAG did what it was supposed to do. I would recommend it to anyone.

Sounds to me like you need to stop putting your phone on the bed.... just leave it in the floor. LOL!!!

You are so right! I have been using the phone as my reader since I got it (haven't touched my Nook since) and fall asleep while reading. I really needed a good case. Considered the Defender but couldn't get with the bulk.

Good choice with UAG case and I'm glad you enjoyed the review

With so many cases I reviewed, this is by far my favorite go-to case. Case-mate Tough is excellent too because of it being slim and offering a decent protection, but I use my phone inside/outside and let my kids (5yr and 8yr) play with it sometime, so I need a better drop protection which I find in UAG.

Default Best case for a woman

I bought my wife the Note 2 and she loves it. She is having trouble finding a case that will protect the phone from all the "debris" in her purse, yet have quick access. Suggestions?

If that's all she needs, any flip cover would work. Possibly in conjunction with a good screen protector. Or she could simply keep the phone zipped inside a small bag, like a makeup bag or wristlet, or inside a separate compartment in her purse - most purses seem to have a zippered pocket on the wall and she'll always know where to reach if she needs the phone.

I have a CaseMate Tough on mine and it fits perfectly inside a Coach Zippy Wallet, which I use as my wallet. It makes it easy to take just my wallet and phone for errands, too, without committing to a wallet case (I don't like any that I have seen and don't want their bulk in the way when I am using the phone).

Since you mentioned "protect the phone from all the 'debris' in her purse", I will assume that screen protection is higher priority than drop protection in your case? Having a phone tangled around with keys and other stuff might do a number on your screen even with screen protector, so I would suggest something with a flip case. Those have shortfalls because you have to flip it open and could be nuisance when you take pictures. But it will give you a good screen protection and overall phone scratch protection. If you have a bigger budget, something like Spigen Wallet Snap case might be even better, or fancy Zenus cases - those have flip cover and wallet for cards and cash, but come at a premium price.

As mentioned, you are still looking for a case and merging means we won't have a duplicate thread of what's already being talked about here.
I know going through all these post may seem daunting but there's a lot of good cases mention throughout.

What makes you think there aren't other women who use a purse in this thread?

I am having trouble understanding what attributes she wants in a case. Could you or she elaborate? Does she want to protect the phone from scratches, be able to find it easily, have a case that won't attract lint and dust...?

She would prefer one that is easy to get out and protects the screen. She is using one with a zipper now and it is cumbersome to answer a call. Thanks for your suggestions.

Default Which hard case?

I'm looking for a slim hard case that zips open to put the phone in (not looking for a flip case). Can anyone suggest one? The Lowepro Deluxe Media Case 30 I have is too big for everyday use.

The best thing to do is search for "note 2 case" on youtube, so you can get a good idea of what's out there.

I like using TPU cases from eBay. They're usually under 5 bucks, take about a week to ship to you from HK sometimes. I've had them for every Android phone I've owned. Impact resistance is great- very flexible case while allowing you to maintain a thin profile. If you like a gussied up TPU case, check out Cruzerlite Androidified cases. They're doing a buy 2 get one free on Amazon. Got 1 for me and 2 for the wife and it shipped free

Also, for screen protectors, I cannot recommend matte ones enough. They don't absord oils from your hands as easily as the glossy ones which means they last much longer. Those go for a buck or so. I know we have Gorilla Glass but I feel like you can never be safe enough.

To OP, I assume you are carrying your phone naked and just put inside of that zipped case? Don't you worry of dropping N2 when taking it out? To get an idea of some of the cases, you can check out my reviews (sticky in the forum, or link in my sig). As a bare minimum, you should at least get tpu case to enhance the grip of the phone and protect battery cover from scratching. As it was mentioned above, Cruzerlite makes cool tpu cases (I have some coming my way for review soon). If you want something slim and an acceptable drop protection - Case-Mate Tough is the best one. If you want a good drop protection and unique design, UAG is really good.

Since you liked that zippered media bag, I wonder if you might find useful a vertical pouch, like this heavy duty one: Heavy Duty Vertical Pouch for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 N717 Belt Clip Holster | eBay - it's actually roomy enough to fit Note 2 with either TPU case or even something like Tough/UAG/Commuter. I'm getting this one as well, and will review it in a few days.

I'm getting this one as well, and will review it in a few days.
As twister said the case mate tough is a great choice!
I got one a few weeks ago (after the great pics and review from twister) and it's a lovely case.

Doesn't add much bulk, feels top quality and even though I'd not want to drop my note 2 if I did the tough case will give it a chance to survive hopefully

So you want to get an aluminum knuckle case for your Note 2? lol!!!! j/k You gotta love Floss with this animated reviews and intro rant!!! That guy is the best

Obviously, you are talking about HunterF case that turns N2 into iPhone 5 like. Can't comment on it much, although I read dozens of posts about it on XDA. In theory it's a solid aluminum box with some padding inside so it should give you some drop protection. But just in my opinion aluminum will get dented if you drop it (it's a soft metal) and you might have a problem with a signal (4G/wifi) since you are encapsulating your phone in a metal shield. You will not loose a signal completely, but maybe a bar or so. Just my opinion, I think it's more for looks, and a damn good one too!

Post your reviews once you get it! Especially how it affects the signal.

The HunterF case does NOT have any padding on the inside. It's sole purpose is for looks; not protection.

Default pouch not case

Ok - I have a TUP case and looking for a quick access pouch to put phone in (w TUP case on) to protect from house keys, coins etc. Any suggestions? The heavy duty on seems a bit OTT

Just purchased my Note 2 today. I got a Tech21 Flip case (black) with the orange D30 strips inside the case. Anyone had any use or know anything about this case? Does it protect well if dropped? I bought it from TMobile when I got the phone but am still not sure if I like it or not.

Re: Tech21 Flip ..... The site says their cases provide impact protection.
All I can add is no case is perfect no matter what their claims.

Many of us have purchased cases off eBay that are still holding up very well. My sister's $60 Otterbox (not even 6 mos old) now looks like it wouldn't protect a $20 phone let alone one that cost several hundred dollars.

I heard mixed reviews about Tech21 case. The most common negative feedback of this case being very slippery/no grip. But you do get these D30 strips to absorb the impact if dropped.

Has there actually been a drop test performed with these cases?

Seems YT has a bunch of drop tests with this case, although not for N2 but rather iPhone.

So, with the case being so slippery I should be okay if I were to drop it then? I know it's bound to happen.

No one can answer this. If you like the case just get it. Looking for the seal of approval on a forum will constantly leave you undecided because we're all full of opinions.
Many of us have cases of all kinds. I personally have 8 and out of those 8 there's not one that'll stop my phone from breaking if it's meant to break.

There are post around here where the phone slid down the inside of a couch and broke.
See, IMO it's NOT about the case. Phones have broke in Otterbox cases and a lot of people swear by that one.

Buy your case and be happy. Just know that YOU have to share responsibility and not expect that nothing will happen to your phone simply because it's in a case.
