my note 2 case is slim add minimal bulk to my phone. It is absolutely outstanding. I purchased it for my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 and it fits wonderfully. I honestly was expecting a cheap case with cheap packaging. The case itself was very light and thin. Its hard to tell that you even have a case on. While it is a thin case it does not sacrifice in protection.
Right now I'm using a body glove case but I can't wait for otterbox to drop the defender case. Sure it'll make my phone look like a brick but I'm all about protection

Hiya everybody! I'm not usually a forumer, but this thread was so useful in my own hunt for a note 2 case (which proved to be a MAJOR pita...) that I wanted to shout out & say I just ordered the Zenus color edge diary case & I'm very optimistic about it. It seems to protect all the edges well, folds all the way back so you can access the side buttons, seems very well made, has a snap closure instead of a magnetic one, and doesn't seem to block the s-pen. If anyone wants, I'll update you once it (AND THE PHONE, but that's a whole other headache) arrives. Muchas gracias fellers!

I use the Incipio Leather Folio case for my Note 2; bought it at the local T-Mobile store. Has a hard reasonably thick soft touch plastic cover for the back that goes over the original back (instead of replacing the original back) and covers all the edges. There is a leather flap that covers the screen that has a microfiber inner lining and an elastic band that keeps the flap closed. The case even has the ability to be used like a kickstand. Works well for me!

I don't think I can post pictures yet (i'm still a baby noob, they're afraid I'm a spammer,) but you can see videos of it here. The guy says the cover wobbles around a bit, but that's because it's got extra room so you can stick stuff inside, which is great for me, I was determined to get a diary/wallet style case & I don't mind it having some bulk to it (i've been carrying around a G2 for 2 years now, I'm used to it.) I'll see if I can post pics when I FINALLY get the phone, but it should look just like the one in the video, I got the white phone & the black case
: )
Oh! And it's not super duper expensive either, which was nice! I got it for about $40 (I don't know the exchange to pounds)

I honestly think the Otterbox Commuter is the best. Defender looks really good, but with the size of it you might as well stick your phone in a pillow and carry it around that way.
Galaxy S3 is built pretty much the same way as the Note 2, and look at it taking a beating with the Commuter on: Otter Box Galaxy S3 Drop Test - Defender vs Commuter - YouTube
Fast forward to 5:38 and watch that dude abuse the crap out of the S3 with the commuter on.
With my phone's recent disagreement with the cement floor I'll be considering either the Otterbox Defender, or the Seidio Active case for my incoming replacement phone.
I bought a commuter case for my Streak cuz that's what everyone raved about back then. Though it does provide good protection, it's a bitch to insert that case inside jeans. Another problem was that rubber......which picks up all the lint inside my pockets. I wore the commuter for about a week and then went naked for good.
Now on the Note II, I have a simple TPU and totally love the simplicity.
With my phone's recent disagreement with the cement floor I'll be considering either the Otterbox Defender, or the Seidio Active case for my incoming replacement phone.
I'll never wear it on a belt and to be totally honest, I never noticed the words "belt clip" in the description. I liked the combination of red/white with a stand and jumped on it.

Protection should be adequate, but the holster is terrible.
Wow, that Hybrid Case in the link looks very similar to Seidio Active, for a fraction of the price. Would you be able to provide a review once you get it? It doesn't look too bulky either.

I already have it. The case itself is made well. Not as grippy (tacky) as my regular white silicon case, but good enough to inspire confidence while holding. The stand is sturdy when deployed. But a bit hard to lock into place. The stand will only support landscape mode though. It has covered flaps for both audio and charging ports.
The holster is rubbish. It's a slide type holster. And very difficult to take the phone out if worn at the belt. You can imagine the silicon lip does offer some resistance when you try to slide in or slide out your phone.
For the price I have nothing but praises for the case, but a lot to be desired when it comes to the holster.

Thanks! From what I have gathered reading Amazon reviews for it, everybody mentions that holster is useless where the clip comes apart causing phone actually to drop out. Plus clip on the holster supposed to work as a stand, while you can't actually put the phone inside with a screen facing out. Is that true?
I was more curious if you would praise it for level of protection, rather than just a cheap price? At this moment, I have a cheap TPU case from eBay (hardly any raised bumper protection on the screen side - not a chance if it falls down screen to the ground). I also have Mercury Slim fit on order due to arrive this Wed, lots of praises on Amazon but not quiet sure about level of protection, especially bumper height on the screen side. Otterbox is way too bulky, so Seidio Active is the next choice. The one you posted above is very similar to it, and I was thinking to get it as an alternative Seidio. What do you think?
... just placed an order anyway Found US seller on ebay for $7.99 (including holster).

This was my thought as well. Looks very similar to Seidio for a fraction of the cost. The other reason I went with eBay was color choice. Seidio seems to only carry black inserts and I didn't want black.

Couldn't really comment on the clip coming apart. Only tried wearing the holster once, and immediately knew I will not wear it anymore.
I can confirm that the phone can only sit on the holster facing the inside. I knew this this morning when I thought I was so smart when I thought I can clip the holster to my car dock so I don't have to take the case off.... And when I tried it, I knew it wasn't going to work.
I couldn't really compare the protection level with the Active case. But with the hard outer shell protecting the corners and side of the phone, as well as the soft inner shell offering some shock absorption properties, I can imagine that it would be on par with the Active case, protection wise.
Now if someone with the active combo case can test if this case fits the active holster, that would be great. :P
I really don't feel comfortable without a case on any touch phone - I have the Commuter & Defender cases for my old Atrix4G ...
... primarily used the Commuter for day-to-day use, & the Defender when the extra protection was needed.
So when my Note2 arrived, I was dissapointed to see that the Commuter case for it wasn't available at the time.
I ended up getting the Seido Active case because it was available & shipping, & I needed a case for the Note2 ...
... the Active is nice enough I guess, & certainly better than no case; but it's no Commuter case imo ...
I will be replacing it with a Commuter case as soon as the black version is in stock ...
Got my Seido Active case in the mail yesterday and so far I like it. I went with the blue version. It obviously adds some weight to the phone but it is not too bad. The only issue so far is that the rubber casing picks up pocket lint real easy. Definitely feels safer then the naked phone in terms of dealing with reasonable drops.
I am absolutely loving my Ringke SLIM case. I recommend it for people who don't want to add too much bulk to the phone and want general protection from scuffs and scrapes.
Got my Mercury Slim Fit flexible TPU case yesterday. It got a lot of high praises on this forum as well as Amazon reviews. What can I say, the fit was perfect, the cut of all the openings - perfect alignment, quality of the material is great. BUT, I will be sending it back. I really wanted TPU case with a bigger bumper/lip on the front so when I say the phone down on a surface its not touching it; plus if there is an accidental drop - at least some protection. Unfortunately, there is hardly any lip on the front. But that's not the worst thing about it, the biggest problem is how slippery the case is. It makes a good friction contact when you put it on the table/glass, etc. But in your hands its one slippery sucker. A big no-no for me. Yes, it looks great and doesn't add any bulk to the phone, but hardly any lip/bumper on the front and slippery back - going back to Amazon...
Waiting for that other rugged hybrid case from above (budget version of Otterbox). I guess will continue searching for TPU case as well. Can you guys post your experience if you got TPU case with a decent size bumper/lip on the front? Mercury and Ringke doesn't have it. I have a few cheapo cases from eBay - the same story. Anything else you can recommend?
Got my white/red eBay case today. Rocking with it now. Short review- I like it. Pleased at the overall fit and feel. Bumper height is pretty decent so although I don't lay my phone face down, if I did I won't have to worry about the screen taking a hit.
Just noticed all ports are covered up so that's another good thing. S-pen slot is recessed just enough that taking pen out is not an impossible task.
Haven't tried the stand yet. May do so while I'm getting my nails done in a few. Took pics. Will add them later.

That is a great news!!!!! I ordered the same one in white/black from eBay, due to arrive this Sat. Does it adds a lot of bulk? Looking forward to pics! Thanks!

If you are looking for something to "get by" and protect your new toy until more choices become available, this Fleabay supplier has quite a few nice alternatives for under $15
Just received my green Piel Frama case today. Expensive yes, but I wanted to dress my Note 2 with a quality case. My white Note 2 and the deep green soft leather case blend well together. Life is good.

Got this case too. Back is slippery but the lip has better grip which helps. Fit is goo. However, and this is why I am sending it back, the back has...SPARKLES in the material. Looks horrible in bright lights. I can't look at the back anymore. Blah.
Elago case on the way. I want a case that's slim, gives good grip, and protects from scratches. I'll use my squaretrade for any major drops leading to screen cracks, but I'm usually good with my electronics.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, it has "twilight" sparkle touch lol!!! Just checked Elago, hmm, looks very similar to Mercury? Please drop a few lines how you like it once you get it?
Regarding Squaretrade, do you know what is their deductible? I have a few 30% off codes from black friday emails. I priced it for my wife's Nexus 7 and with a discount it was around $48 for 3 years. For Note 2 it's $95 with a coupon for 2 years, and they said its $99 deductible. Is that right? So, even if the screen cracks - only $99 deductible? Is that how you got it?

Finally had a chance to use the stand.
Didn't like it at first but that's my own fault.
Pull the stand out until you hear it click.
I wasn't doing that and it kept tilting over.

Very happy with blue Seidio Active. Fits nice and is low profile. Note II and case weigh 8.3oz. Kickstand is pretty cheap though. Same case I had for Thunderbolt.
How's the feel of it? Does it feel flimsy or anything?
Ohhhhhh ren not flimsy at all. You know I'm honest to a fault and the way I see it, if you have one of these there's no reason to spend double on the Seidio Surface.
It has a leg up on Samsung's case also because it's not slippery ANYWHERE. Samsung made the back of theirs just as slippery as the phone. I swear they love their plastic.
There's no bulk to this case and because it has a more rugged feel when I slip it in my pocket it doesn't feel like it'll slip out.
I've seen plenty of posts in which people say TPU picks up a lot of lint, dust, you name it and sticks to the case. I don't know what this is. I believe I read silicon. I had some lint on it and just blew it off. Nothing sticks to it.
At this rate I'm going to need a box to hold cases.
This is the best one I've bought.

Picked up a Speck Candyshell in black/grey from an AT&T store a couple of days ago. It adds very little bulk to the phone, and has just the right amount of rubber tackiness to make one-handed use feel safe without becoming a lint magnet in the pocket. In fact, the phone feels much better in my hand with this case. Fits well on the phone, with no gaps, and headphones and the charger attach unimpeded. Comes off without any issues. Buttons work perfectly.
