This thread made me want to try out some cases. I usually go for zagg type body shields but im not looking to put my phone away for 12 hours to dry lol.
I ordered the incipio LGND and if that doesn't work out then ill try the seidio surface. Ive had the surface for a prior phone and the lgnd for a tablet and i liked them both. If neither one does it im just going with a skin. Id go all natural but this phone is ridiculously slippery.
I got the seidio active case, had to sell my kidney for it since it cost me $58 even from Amazon but it's the best darn case i have seen. Very thin yet still provides 2 layers of protection. Plus it's got a nifty kick stand which i gotta admit does feel a wee bit flimsy but not flimsy enough to break off, just feels like it won't last 2 years. Otherwise amazing case, got it with the holster which is perfectly sized for a not too tight grip on the note 2 letting you easily pull it out and pop it back in yet it's secure enough that you could be doing gangnam style and your note 2 wouldn't even slip out a tiny bit from the holster.
The stand is CHEAP and does not go back in the case without a 2nd effort.
The volume buttons are a pain and do not make make it easy to use
The case material is halfway decent.
I would say if you are flat broke get this otherwise, its like a band aid till you can get a first class case. In face I am already shopping for a case with a stand right now.
Well the stand works fine now, took 30 to 4o clicks to break it in.
The volume buttons are next for me to get use to.
Thanks for this review/feedback, I crossed it out of my list. The rugged hybrid case I got off eBay (review in previous posts) working very good so far. I also ordered perforated hybrid hard case as an alternative (w/o kickstand), and was also looking at the one you pointed out (but not anymore). I will review perforated hybrid case as soon as I get it, which should be early next week.
Does the Defender have a big enough in the headphone slot for full size a full size headphone plug?
I believe it does.
When I was using the auxilary cable with my phone in the defender case, the cable had sort of a "fat head" so I had to use a little effort to push it in, but it fit.

Can't go wrong w otterbox. I purchased the commuter and it didn't add a lot of bulk to the phone at all. Screen protector doesn't interfere w touch at all. Very pleased overall
I'm wondering how this case will look on a white note 2. I'm not sure it would look all that great and speck tells me they have no plans to release a white one.
This is a total fail, I went to work and the headphone plug area is too small for my headphone plug. This is going in the garbage.
Can't you make the hole bigger/wider? Take a tip of a sharp pointy knife and scrape it in a circular motion. Of course you can use a dremel tool or drill as well
The only thing kind of strange was reading 2 comments on BB where someone mentioned holster being too tight to the point where it damaged screen protector and magnet holding kick stand was messing up the phone. But either way, you can always get it at the store and try it out.

Reason: it's not Active, but rather Surface model

Wouldnt this one be more of the Surface then the Active?
I only say, becuase i would kick myself in the ass for not buying it. I saw the case but i was looking for more of the Active look, but i ordered my Seidio Active on Monday...hopefully it will be here soon.

That would look a bit off holding the current Porshe of cell phones.
I have the Samsung Flip case, more for privacy when sitting on my desk then protection. I have best buy's insurance for 10 bucks a month, if I drop it, scratch it whatever its going it for a replacement so I would rather not add a huge bulky case that takes away from the phone.
I did not even buy my phone there, it and my last 2 iPhones I bought and took in and just added there insurance.

What's a deductible with BB? Yes, their Geek Squad offers a competitive warranty (trying to match Square Trade). So as an example - Square trade is $95 total for 2 year with $100 deductible. How about BB?

Yes, you are absolutely correct, its a Surface. I will update my post!

Zero deductible, and they give you a loaner phone while they fix/replace your phone, normally 2-3 days. Unlimited uses per year. I have yet to use it, but both of my friends had there iPhone 4s's replaced twice this year each with it and no hassles.
I have this case and the whole phone snaps into another shell which is pretty protective on the corners. Its kinda awkward to hold tho, which is why I am shopping for something else.

Oh common, just admit it - you wanted to dress your Porsche of cell phones into Porsche of cases
One thing with our Note 2 phones - doesn't matter what you dress them into, the size of it is a dead giveaway of what you are holding!!! I already had a few jaws drop at work when I whipped it out to show some excel/powerpoint documents on a spot.

My incipio LGND came today. It was awesome. I love the look of it and coupled with "proximity autolock" its like a smart cover for my note.... Small novelty but i like it.
However........ My daughter came to get it.... She grabbed it with her nails....... The stupid front cover is useless........
I ordered mine from Seidio on monday regular mail and get here today...woot! Saved me $8.00!!! Now my wife took it and wrapping it, so i still have to wait :-(
I like and have the Otterbox Defender. It is always the one I go with in the end. I would love to try a Trident Kracken, but they haven't made it for the Note 2 and say they have no plans to do so either..
Just wanted to mention if anybody looking at eBay's "perforated hard hybrid case cover" - don't bother. Got it today, and its a pure junk. So far the only decent eBay case I'm keeping, and actually loving it, is the one I have reviewed earlier in this thread "rugged hybrid hard case".
Both protrude above the screen a little so if it's face down, it's not lying on the screen. I like the Samsung one because it's rubbery all around the sides. It's hard rubber so it still slides in your pocket, but gives a much more solid feel than the speck's slippery sides.
Edit: it's also much easier to get the phone in and out of the case compared to the speck.
I just ordered the Samsung Protective Cover + in white for my phone. I hope it works in the Samsung universal multimedia dock that I bought.
It works in the cheaper dock no problem with the case on. I don't have the uber "smart" dock, so I can't comment on that. I'm talking about the 2 OEM Samsung docks.
That's with the samsung cover in the samsung dock, works great.
Nice. I just got the dock in right now and it also works with the Cruzerlite Androidified case. This surprised me because the cruzerlite case is pretty thick. I think the only case this won't work with would be something rugged like otterbox.
The Otterbox also has port covers over the headphone jack and charge port. I like the Otterbox Commuter cases. Currently have it on my Note 2 and Note.
Most, if not all these cases will work in the dock. Pics have been previously submitted to the thread showing it in all it's glory and from different angles. .

I'm glad it does. I had no use for the Smart Dock so I didn't want to have to spend the extra on it. I have no need to hook a monitor, mouse and keyboard to my phone lol. I just wanted something that will charge my phone while docked and put it in a desk mode or night mode when docked.
Announced at IFA 2012, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 follows its predecessor with a focus on creativity. The device improves the experience by adding more S-Pen functionality and new-generation specs, not to mention the slightly larger 5.5-inch display... Read More
