As long as it can be "un-done" I'm in for try.
But I would advise to use caution - I rooted and installed a Custom ROM in my Archos 80 G9 - but of course now it impossible to install the official Android updates direct from Archos.
I'm inclined to wait and use the stock AT&T Galaxy Note 2 ROM and not Root for a while, as its possible AT&T might roll out a few iterations of new bug fixes in the next few months after intial shipments.
If I root - I might be left out on obtaining those.
I don't know if it can be undone. I'm currently satisfied with my S'Note as it is. I posted the link specifically for you based on your post of wanting root for your A'Note not knowing root was available for all Note 2's no matter the carrier.

good ROMs are supported by the dev..
and they are updated very quickly..
as new great mods are out .. or updates from OEM / google..
the Devs will release an update .. most of the time within 24hrs.
i have never had issues about getting timely updates for the popular ROMs
