@ Isaac I used Go Launcher EX and followed this video by ColdFustion. He moves through it pretty quick but you can always hit pause.

Coldfustion's Android 3D UI Tutorial [Galaxy Note 2]

Also, if you choose to do it this way, when you set up the # of home screens your going to add 1, 2, 4, 6, & 8....noticed I skipped some #'s. The video doesn't make that clear. Figured it out thru trial and error.

Also, in the video he'll tell you what settings he went with but you'll notice those settings he "choose" were already set by default- something else he doesn't mention.

I want to do this as well and loved his video. BUT, I will be using my phone in portrait mode and not typically turning it sideways. Will it look bad? I know you CAN do it but have you been able to find a way to make each screen look good in portrait and landscape?

After doing this everything was in landscape. I vaguely remember seeing a setting for portrait. When I redo it again I'll try to remember to look for that.

EDIT: GO Launcher - preferances - application setting (home screen tab) - screen orientation (set it to auto since you said you prefer portrait)

Wow.

I am going to try this. The YouTube video looks sick.

Right now I am using Nova launcher. Hate to depart from that, but if uninstalling it is what I have to do to make my Android look anything but basic, so be it.

Awesome thanks. Good it is an option, but does it look good in portrait?

I would also like to know if it looks good in portrait mode as well.

Finally, I would expect I need to uninstall the Nova Launcher Prime I have installed>?++?

Actually it does. Me, I prefer the landscape look.
If you'd rather use Nova, my only suggestion is to watch the video and see if those same settings exist in Nova.

I will look at Nova this weekend and see if the same settings exist.

If anyone is presently using Nova and can confirm if the settings exist, it would be greatly appreciated.

It would take watching the video so keep in mind this won't be an immediate answer if no one has done it yet.

@ Miss V ~ I'm still learning this phone. I normally get bored with phones within the first 6 months and will then go the root route; but this one.....WOW! There's SO much to do with it.

I've been using it stock but the customizing intrigued me enough to do it.

All of them have the +'s and -'s. Believe me, there's nothing wrong with sticking to stock until your comfortable enough to try something else. I've met some android users who've never changed anything about their phone. It was stock to the day the phone stopped working.

In a small way I was like at when I had the Motorola Photon. Every now and again a phone comes out that just a joy to use without going crazy doing things to it. The Note 2 is another one of those phones.

Already done launchers as well as rooting, not my cup of tea. For me presently it's more about the functionality and less about the esthetics. But that's just me. =)

Instead of each page turning like say a book, each one flips in and out of each other while the widget looks like the odd number page. Hope that makes sense....it did in my head.

At 08:17 of his tutorial you'll see this- which shows he skipped odd numbers.

It's a program called Llama. Location based profiles similar to Locale and Tasker. Free to install, pretty simple to setup and uses radio towers so I've not noticed any significant battery drain.

The homescreens won't rotate in Jelly Bean unless you use another launcher.

Didn't have time to really do this right until this afternoon. And thanks for those that reminded me that the Motion can be enabled to use the hand gesture for screenshots (saved me some time and uninstalled the Screen Grabber app that I used to use on the Photon). Nontheless, to do this properly, I'm going to continue editing so that I can also add the apps that produce the widgets I'm using.

To start, I'm using LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - NOVA LAUNCHER (well, really it's LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - NOVA LAUNCHER PRIME
I have 9 homescreens enabled w/ 5 scrolling dock pages (and 6 apps storable on each dock page).

Center Homescreen

- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - SIMI CLOCK WIDGETS
- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - BATTERY CIRCLE
- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - BRILLIANT QUOTES
- Weather Widgets (Yr. No) - No longer available through the market
- LINK GOOGLE PLAY STORE - HOROSCOPE WIDGET

1st to the left

- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - ANDROID PRO WIDGETS (Bookmarks)

2nd to the left

- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - WIDGETSOID
(Shortcut widgets created and customized through Widgetsoid to create bigger accessible buttons on the homescreen w/ customized color to fit theme). I have the donate version.

3rd to the left

- Widgetsoid
- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - SHAZAM ENCORE
- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - SOUNDHOUND PAY VERSION

4th to the left

- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - POWERAMP (Paid App after 30 day trial, but best music player available)

1st to the right

- Android Pro Widgets (Agenda)

2nd to the right

- Android Pro Widgets (Timeline - To view Twitter and Facebook Feeds/Posts)

3rd to the right

- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - GTASKS

4th to the right

- Widgetsoid

Lockscreen

- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - Widgetlocker (For those wondering why I use widgetlocker, instead of the OEM lockscreen, there are multiple reasons: 1) Made by same developer as NOVA launcher, 2) Allows clickable widgets and access to notifications in notification bar without needing to unlock phone, 3) Customizability and appearance, 4) It bi-passes the phone locking immediately...Samsung setting... (which, I have to have a passcode set for security reasons with work emails), and allows the max of locking after 30 minutes without activity).
- LINK: GOOGLE PLAY STORE - BEAUTIFUL WIDGETS (This was used for the Tron Clock, as well as the weather widget, which can both be set up to be clickable. I can check my calendar, weather, and other functions without ever having to actually unlock the phone, due to Widgetlocker's settings)
- Circle Battery (listed earlier)
- Brilliant Quotes (listed earlier)

-EDIT 11/29 10:53am- Updated with links to the apps I'm using. I'd take screen shots of the scrolling docks as well, but that'd take too much time.

For those that are wondering why I don't just put a single app on the homescreen vs. using a customized widget (using widgetsoid)...The reason I do that is so that I can expand the area that opens up the app without needing to click directly on the app...makes for quicker access (with this big screen, clicking an area of that app based on how I set it up in widgetsoid vs. the actual icon really helps). This increases the area that I can click on my frequently used apps without any issue.

Here's mine, the background is the live digital Hive wallpaper you've probably seen.

Would you mind sharing how you created that. New to the OS and not sure of the creative apps I need to design my own backgrounds

Only had my phone since last week so haven't done too much with it yet.

btw Does anyone know how to change the lockscreen picture? I'm sure I saw an option for it before but now can't find it anywhere!

Edit - Never mind I found it! (if anyone's wondering, it's one of the options when you select 'set as' when looking at an image in your gallery)

It's easier than it looks I don't know if you've heard of "mycolorscreen.com", but they've got a bunch of cool home screens and how-to's. I actually posted this one on that site, so I'll give you the link:

Oh. Your name is on it! Sweet!

Is that your homescreen or lockscreen?

Also, I forgot if I mentioned it on the site or not but I used the ADW launcher for the custom shortcut option that allowed me to substitute those round blue icons for the original ones.

I can't seem to figure out why you'd need Gmail and the stock email app in the dock at the same time. Is there a reason for you setting it up like that? just curious and nosy
