According to Corning the Gorilla Glass should perform that way. But the suspect thing is the case around the screen should be beat to hell and back but does not appear to be.

So: Who knows?

Steel is typically not as hard as glass.

Knife "tests" (lol, not tests) are popular and prove nothing.

A grain of the right sand, and any screen will scratch.

Put something against glass, whichever of the two is harder, wins.
twospirits and g2manhou like this.

I bet my knife will go through the whole phone and not just the glass itself.

Then how come I've had my GNII for a little over a month now and it already has a tiny scratch on the screen even though I haven't dropped it. These tests lie!! Lol j/p I do believe this may be true but there are so many things out there that can scratch up these screens (ex. Sand) so I still would always get a screen protector.

Had my NOTE 2 for 2 week. Got about 7 scratches on the nice shiny screen. I've been treating it really well. Worst part is... I dont even know how they have happened. Just looked at my phone today and boom. The smooth beautiness has gone :-(
Yes, this so called brillant glass scratches. Trust me. I'm quite devestated.
I personally think these tests prove nothing.
