I think it's because of how thick Zagg screen protectors are.
The built in screen protector will likely barely touch the screen so it shouldn't bubble too much. I tend to put cheaper/thinner anti-glare screen protectors on, then use the defender case and there are no bubbles at all.
The built in SP doesn't stick to the SP already installed.
well i actually like the build in screen protector. And yes its barely touching the screen but thats the problem, when u touch it it moves and I hate that. ill put spigen sp on there and see if it helps since its hard plastic SP it shouldnt stick to otterbox
I hate screen protectors. Come on, we have gorilla glass and probably won't keep the phone for more than a year or two. Who are you protecting it for the next guy? It sort of reminds of the women that would put clear plastic on all their furniture. Set yourself free and enjoy your phone in all of its glory.

For me, I just don't like the idea of huge scratches (Gorilla glass will scratch).
Plus if the glass does break, if it's got a screen protector it will help keep the glass on the phone. You'll be able to keep using it until you can replace it.
I did that with my old Motorola Triumph. It kept working for 3 months until the phone I wanted came out.

Actually yes i am protecting for next guy, when i sell phone for something better. 6 months to a year is usually the average life of my phones. And gorilla glass can scratch, may not be as easy but it is possible.

My screen protector did the same, so I popped it out. I complained to Otterbox and they are sending me a replacement case. Go here to fill out a warranty claim. OtterBox Warranty | OtterBox.com

I actually like the built-in screen protector. But I have the same issue as you. It does barely touch the screen.

Are u saying i got a fault case? This is my first Otterbox case. Is it suppose to be flushed with the screen? I thought it was normal for them to hover like that.
If its faulty then i guess ill fill out warranty papers

Every otterbox defender I've tried on iPhones have been flush with the screen. I spoke to an otterbox rep about the screen hovering over my note 2 and she said it's not supposed to be like that. But it seems to be the issue with all Note 2 defenders.
I ordered my defender case from Otterbox just this week, so maybe they've tuned it up a bit, but I'm not really noticing anything significant in the way of the screen protector being inadequate.
I know! My only gripe is the lack of color selection.
With the Commuter Case for the Galaxy Note 2 being a fairly new release from Otterbox ...
... it wouldn't surprise me to see more colors available for the N2 sometime in the future.
After going thru a terrible cheap Ebay one and a pain to hold billfold case my just arrived Defender feels like first class and a tank protecting my Note. Love it.
The screen protector can be hardly seen.
I ended up sending my Otter box back because the screen protector was too popped out. I had to scroll very hard to get my screen to respond.
=/
I'll be sticking with my pocket case for now.
I would really hate to have to send it back since it was like 4 days late. i guess if all the note 2 otterboxes have SP problems then i can manage with it. Just didn't want to be one of the ones with a faulty case
Still no confirmation on if and when they will make different colors. It's ashame because otterbox is top dog in phone cases. They're so busy bending backwards for iphone cases other models are lacking support
Remove the screen protector that comes with the case and use whatever you want. I did just that.
THIS! I did this with my iPhone 4S Defender case. I am using a SGP Steinhill Ultra Optics however if you use the SGP Steinhill Ultra Crystal it will be like using the glass on the phone. It is a perfect combo to use a different screen protector and the defender case. If you want some pics let me know.
I completed a warranty claim. They are sending me a new case. The screen thing is really bugging me.
they are really good upholding their warranty. the silicon on my 4S defender was distorted so they sent me an updated silicon that fit perfectly with case no gaping whatsoever. only thing is I had to send a few pictures within an email with my claim which was no biggie. I must say though they really outdid themselves with the N2 commuter case. it is perfect and I did drop my phone on purpose to test the durability. (the best buy warranty has me spoiled since I dont have to pay a deductible I can be a daredevil haha )
I never could stand the protector on my maxx, I just popped it out in favor of a zagg. Now im just doing the seidio active /commuter off and on with the zagg (for my note two) .
what did you have to do for this? i.e. return old case? take pictures?... I am having same issues with my defender which I just got a week ago.
I had to do what chasers said: I called them and they emailed me requesting pics. So I sent those to otterbox and they are sending me a new case. I guess I have to send the old case back to them when I get the new one. I'm not sure though.

I didn't have to send back the damaged silicon nor did they send an envelope or instructions for return.
I've been using a Defender case on my Note II since Saturday. It's been great so far, except that dirt/dust is getting under the screen protector through the cutout for the button.

Yep. That's because the screen protector isn't flat up against the screen...which is why I'm getting a new one from them.
The dirt getting under the screen drives me batty!
Well Otterbox did send a replacement case over the Holidays and the screen protector seems to be right against the N2 screen. All is good now. They have never asked for the old case back before, but this time they sent a returned address envelope to send the old one back.

Did you get a tracking notification? I haven't received one yet and I called them before Christmas. Was it sent fedex or snail mail?

I have a commuter case on my galaxy nexus and love it. I usually run my phone naked but when I don't the commuter is my first choice and I can't imagine needing anymore protection then what it provides.
I will eventually get a commuter for my n2 but I'm surprisingly loving my Verizon kick stand case and the kick stand doubles as a place to put my finger when reading in bed eliminating the dreaded phone to nose drop haha
The N2 will probably be the first phone I own that never goes without a case. The size and slickness of the phone make it too slippery not to have a textured case

I emailed them Friday, got a response Saturday morning (to which I responded), and Sunday morning I received an email indicating that they were going to send me a replacement.
The screen protector on my replacement case was still the same way. I eventually popped it out and will get a Zagg screen protector on it. Otterbox's quality of the case is still outstanding, but I've done this on previous iPhone Defender cases too.........

Really? They sent my case fedex smartpost (ugh...usps first class is faster) and I'm not expected to get it until next Wednesday -the 9th. It was shipped on the 29th. Talk about slow...
I actually stopped using the Defender. The screen protector was driving me crazy. I wanted to remove it, but I knew my replacement was coming and that I would have to send the old one back.
Based on my yesterday experience with 3 Defender cases at Verizon store having this plastic screen problem, and reading these posts - sounds like its a global problem with all of their N2 Defender cases, right? I read in here one exception where someone got original OK, and another person got a "working" replacement. Anybody else can share a successful exchange/original purchase? I have created a case yesterday, but have to wait 2 weeks before replacement comes in. In a meantime, I don't want to pop out the screen because it has to go back after replacement (and I just afraid they will hold it against me). Just curious to find out if a working screen protector piece even exists? Just like for others, its not a deal break because cause its awesome.
Hello I removed the built-in screen protector and want to put Other .., will have to cut it to the same size as the original frame.
I am afraid that is a problem with opening because of the new addition
