Default Anyone in UK got 4.1.2 yet?

Just as the title says really. Seems crazy but my Motorola page early on in the week and despite being over a year older than my note 2, it is now running software newer than my practically brand new phone. Both on same network too.

Yes I have got the 4.1.2 update, not done through root, it was OTA. I have an unbranded BTU handset. Got the update about a month ago if memory serves. Have you tried clearing google framework services and then checking for the update? Menu>Application manager>Scroll across to all All>Scroll down to Google Services Framework>Clear Data then retry check for updates.

I'm in the UK and also got the update about a month ago. I'm unrooted and on Vodafone.

Just tried this but still no update. Oh well, I guess I'll stay in 4.1.1

I am with O2, tried your update method with no joy.
I cleared the data (about 5gb) tried it. Said up to date.
Then I saw the later post, cleared data and forced stop, data reappeared (192kb), so I cleared it and it restarted. Forced stop again, data reappeared.......

Strange how you don't have the update showing yet.

I have read that sometimes OTA upgrades don't always show up, but yet if you use KIES on the PC, it will always show the upgrade being available?

Try KIES perhaps?

For what it's worth, I've got a Tmob simcard in mine, and it's a UK simfree handset.
I was notified of the software upgrade(via wifi) whilst on holiday in Las Vegas, with my phone switched in airplane mode (ie simcard off)! So I'm not so sure that the simcard/network has any bearing on the software release dates at all....

Also Sim free phone.

Its basically a software for your pc that you can use to backup data etc... but I just use it to install updates when they are released. Just google Samsung Kies software. Some people have reported issues with drivers but I have had no problems.

There is another update for mine today. Got the update icon this morning but it won't update OTA for some reason. Will check with Kies later.

Ok, since trying this, all my game and Facebook notifications have stopped. They are all switched on in each app but for some reason they're not coming through. What have you made me do to my phone? Help please!

Mine updated automatically this morning, 50 odd mb, haven't a clue what the update was though.

It's not just Facebook, it's also words with friends, battle with friends, scramble.

Actually, whilst I'm typing this I've realised that all of these games use my Facebook login! I'll give it a go and report back.

You could also try clearing app data and cache for each app( you may end up losing any progress though)

Phoenix, glad you are all sorted. I have done quite a bit of research on the clearing google framework thingy, and it would appear that doing so causes big problems for some, minor problems for others and no problems for the rest. I guess it just depends on what you have installed and the way you use your phone. Going back to the original question, have you got the update yet? Tried using Samsung Kies etc?

Lol, i think after this experience I might just wait until it appears. Never used kies in my life and heard so many issues with it that I'll just live with what I've got, despite it being older software lol

Just flash an odexed 4.1.2 stock rom, doesn't matter which country. Just change the language at the start.

Clearing google framework buggered up my google play store updates. I repeatedly got this error [rpc:aec:0], tried lots of fixes incl clearing play store data etc. The only thing that eventually worked was deleting the account and reinstalling it. PITA!

Yeah same here, it caused a google play crash for a while, seems to be ok for now.

Ironically I can't seem to get the (new 50mb) update to work via KIES (I'm already on 4.1.2). The KIES program crashes midway during the update process. What a pile of crud.

OTA doesn't yet come up with an update, just a message saying 'update is given in the order it's been requested' or some crap.

I installed the 50MB update just now and it looks like it's extended my battery life standby time by about 50%.

Ironically, since I cleared my Google framework thing (sorry, I'm not so technical lol) my note 2 is not showing as one of my devices on the play store on the laptop! I have been assured that it will reappear at some point but until then I won't be able to push apps from the laptop to my phone. Just a word of warning to anyone else who tries it.

Yeah I thought mine had stopped responding but I remembered the last time I updated it did the same. Just leave the pc to do its thing, it will get there in the end

Agreed.

The problem is that the Kies updating software is not informative and there are long periods when one does not know what is happening.. When I tried it on an XP machine, I too got the impression that it had crashed after about 5 minutes. However, it did eventually work when tried to update on a Vista PC. Afterwards, I realised that it might actually have worked on the XP-PC as well if I had given it more time when, to all intents, it seemed to have crashed.

To explain a bit further. During the first 5 minutes everything seemed OK in that there was a message initially saying that it is preparing the update and then a progress bar appeared for downloading software. When it reached 100% the message did not change for about 4 minutes and nothing seemed to be happening when the message panel suddenly disappeared. The main Kies screen was grayed out and the Windows Task Manager showed Kies as ‘Not responding’. When that happened (twice) on the XP-PC I terminated Kies but due to other circumstances, I did not do so when I tried the update on the Vista PC. After about another 10 minutes or so another message entitled ‘Firmware Upgrade Progress’ appeared. Progress was very slow at about 2% a minute but it did eventually run through to a successful conclusion.

The net effect of all this was to update the firmware from

‘PDA:MB2 / PHONE:LK7 / CSC:MB2 (BTU)’
to version
‘PDA:MC3 / PHONE:LK7 / CSC:MC2 (BTU)’

Good news. My battery life has gone down a bit since 4.1.2.

I updated via Kies last time and then did a full reset. Might just "wait my turn" for OTA this time.

I left it sitting in the greyed out 'crashed/not responding state' (this is after it had downloaded the firmware to 100%) sitting for at least 20mins on one the tries I made using Kies yesterday.

I'll try it again, but how long are u guys reckoning it should take from 1st click to completion?

I cannot say exactly because I left it whilst I did something else but it was less than an hour.

One hour on, and it's still not completed - still looking very much crashed. Even windows task manager is saying it's not responding (ie crashed)

well 90mins later and still no movement. 100% crashed KIEs program as I suspected all along.

Irony or Irony now it's gone past 12am, I've checked for the OTA update for the millionth time today, and it's now available to download

Must be because it's past 12am and it's now 'my turn' as it were

It took mine about 45mins, it did look like it had crashed a couple of times though, then just carried on.

Mine came through the night before last. I woke up at 4am and gave it a try and OTA worked!

Can't say anything about increased battery life yet as the phone had some heavy use last night following the very sad news from Boston.
