Default Galaxy Note 3 & Galaxy Gear

It looks like the Galaxy Gear will work with most Galaxy phones (and other Android devices), not just the GN3. But it's pretty exciting to see how the new Galaxy devices will work together with each other. I'm guessing that the Sept 4th show will be how the Note works with the Watch along with the S4.

Qualcomm achieves these enhancements in the QFE1100 by using a technology called Envelope Tracking. Essentially, the hardware tracks changes in the radio frequency and adjusts the power amplifier accordingly. Unlike traditional methods which perpetually run at full power, or those that only adjust the level when the radio is barely active, this technology can limit power usage only to what is necessary at the moment of transmission. ... Qualcomm claims this can reduce radio power consumption by up to 20% and heat production by up to 30%, all while improving the speed and reliability of the cellular signal.

I'm glad I'm not the only one excited about Gear!!! I have been going smart-watch crazy, literally!!! MetaWatch, Pebble, Sony, Agent, Kreyos, HOT, Omate, Neptune Pine, Google acquisition of WiMM, etc... Now waiting for the real deal from Samsung - Gear! Just hope it won't be disappointing with 10hr battery life as some rumors suggesting.

Of course, excited about Note 3 as well. Just have no idea how it will be introduced through carrier this time cause AT&T always gets it first while I have to wait for Verizon to catch up...

I'm on Verizon as well, and I fully expect to get the GN3 to released a month after all the other carriers similar to last year.

I'm excited for the gear as well. I hope the watch lasts at least a day on a single charge. I think it's the perfect pair with the GN3 as it's something big to go along with something small. lol I just hope it has S-health and an easy notifications feature.

I'm on Verizon too. If the N3 isn't out by end of Sept, I will probably go with the G2.

If it wasn't for my grandfathered unlimited data plan, I'd hate Verizon.

not sure about the gear watch. Some designs look awesome (T3). The rest look awful.

I also suspect the first release will be pretty basic and its one of those things where tech will play a big part and the next version will be much stronger.

We'll see in 3 days!

Engadget is reporting that either the pre-orders or the actual release will be Sept 16th in the UK, so it might be reasonable to expect it to be available in other markets on that date or near it.. unless you're on Verizon in the US. lol

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 reportedly landing on Three UK September 16th, Sony Xperia Z1 coming September 24th

In that picture, yes. On Sept 4th, I have no doubt the real Gear will look a lot better From what I'm hearing, Sammy likes to put disguise on their top devices to conceal the real shape/dimensions. This is all a very cleverly designed marketing campaign to generate a buzz

It's definitely ugly. The renderings look much better. We can only hope that's just an early production.

With that said, the 10 hour battery life is far more offensive than the appearance of the watch. This watch should have at least 16-24 hours (wide range, I know) of battery life.

Looks like an old casio calculator watch.

Of course its samsung....look at the cheap plastic strap lol

....and if you can't wear a watch from one day to the next its not worth having.

Some brilliant renders have been kicking around but none of them look tough enough to take daily knocks. Sadly this does - i certainly won't be getting it! Apple will be peeing themselves laughing haha

I thought it looked like a calculator watch when I first saw it!!. Definitely looks like a 1980's " back in the day" throw back.

Fingers crossed that it isn't the final version

It's probably 3Gb of RAM physically. And 2.5Gb is what's left after OS or GPU using some part of it.

Samsung Gear looks nice, but... It only works with a Note3 and a Note 10.1 2014-edition. So disappointing... Maybe Im worsed to buy Sony then.

do you not think it looks low quality/cheap? Dont like the eye on the strap - the camera.
Think I'll be giving that a wide berth.
Liking the Note 3. Some nice touches and excellent features especially re the s pen. Not sure about the leatherette back...

The watch will work with the N2, S3, and S4 when Samsung sends an update. The watch itself looks a bit rough around the edges. Not sure if I'd get it though I might just for the hell of it.

Even if it cost north of $300? Someone posted a pricing listed in South Korea which translated to $450. IMHO, they need to price it around $200 to get people on board. Otherwise it will be a novelty item, like that "fancy" looking I'm Watch.

IMHO, to get people on board with this smart watch you need to make it affordable. This way you are going to attract developers with custom ROMs Just for notification purposes you can get a lot of other universal smartwatchs. I use my MetaWatch everyday, STRATA is $129, while current gen Sony is $99. The next breed of smartwatches - Omate really stands out (once you disable 3G radio and don't abuse wifi to get max battery and pure android experience with camera, waterproof, etc.). For $200 Gear would be awesome! Also, as much as I can't stand Apple, all the rumors about 2014 iWatch with some kinetic self-winding battery charging really peeks my interest. If they smart enough, they will make it universal for iOS and Android.

Well I believe the smaller one is going for $250 and with the holidays coming around the corner I figure the price will be Black Friday reduced even further.
So maybe it will be $200 for a short time and then shoot right back to regular price thereafter.

First hands on video from Engadget guys. Looks like interface is a bit laggy. Also, they are suggesting intro price of $299. Too high...

Didn't look sluggish to me but then again its not in my hands to make an accurate determination.

Perhaps one (or more) of the carriers will attempt to one-up their competitors/entice a carrier switch,by offering a bundle/discount,especially on opening day.

I'm hoping for a bundled price as well. I've seen some reviewers mentioning that. The only issue I have with this watch is how bulky it looks.

Looks like we can cross T -MOBILE off the bundled Bandwagon:

If Sprint offers a bundle I'll take it.

Oh and Verizon's idea of a bundle is to just charge full price for both devices. lmao

Actually I did this last year. (I thought I posted it somewhere).
I bought one of those waterproof arm gym case that straps to your arm, wrist and used it on my wrist for a few days. But didn't like the plastic cover since it made working with the screen a bit hard. (i don't like to wear screen protectors since they feel weird)

Amazon: Note 2 armband

To be honest, that is the only way I will buy a Gear if I get a Note 3 (which i'm considering to replace my iphone 5).

Best benefit of this,IMHO,is getting a better/stronger BLUETOOTH connection w/your phone & earpiece, when worn on the upper arm.

Seems to help w/some B/T devices, but, hopefully the newer B/T's do not need the added proximity.
My MOTO ELITE SLIVER II,I'm glad to say, seems to buck the trend & stays connected all the time:
Sliver II Bluetooth Headset by Motorola - A Google Company

Sorry for the topic drift.

Will the galaxy gear be sold anywhere else other than cellular stores. For example Amazon or Best Buy etc.

I almost expect to see it on Amazon or at Best Buy. I fully expect to have the watch sometime around Black Friday as long as the reports are over a 24 hour battery life.

Default SAMSUG GEAR Run Time

SAMSUNG's estimates are 25 hrs......

We'll see, but, that number sounds just a bit coincidental,if not optimistic,to overcome the psychological 24 hr barrier.
