I received my s view cover and I'm quite pleased with it. Black case on black phone looks very nice.
The clear panel works well as does the s pen

For now I have the one the AT&T store had when I bought the phone. It's an Incipio (or something like that)

Its aluminum color. It has a rubber casing and hard shell outer skeleton. Actually not a bad case at all and doesn't add bulk.

Incipio doesn't have anything lists for the Note 3 yet but might have to check an ATT store down here then too. Love the look of the Note but think a decent case with shell and silicone/tpu inner is best.

I do not want to use a case, I figure I could replace a backplate if I need to and a case will not protect the screen if I drop it anyways. I'm thinking of just getting some type of light bumper to protect the sides in case I drop it and dent the sides.

1. Am I wrong? Does a case somehow provide additional support to protect a screen if it gets dropped?
2. Can anyone recommend a light bumper to just protect the sides of the Note3?

Thanks.

Absolutely, with the high end of the spectrum being the Otterbox Defender series, when it's available for this device. Although it's also the high end of the price spectrum, there will be comparable cases available at some point for less money.

Is there a case that protects the screen quite well, without making it (the screen) look/function like garbage?

im not worried about my case being bulky or looking stupid/ugly as hell as long as it doesnt make the nice fancy hd screen look like a 10 year old flip phone

I am targeting this case. Anyone got it that can post some pics? Also waiting to see what Rearth comes out with. That UAG case does look nice too but maybe a little bulky...

I have this on order so I have another few weeks to wait. I need good visibility if I put the phone down or drop it in undergrowth - hence the unfashionable, lurid colour and hence the armouring. All bought and paid for. In the meantime, I'm using a bright gel case for the same high visibility reason.

agree. I like the orange color as well. I didnt want to order multiple cases only to return them. I still think I might end up ordering the Slim Armour (steel blue) from Spigen.

how rigid is this case? hard to get a view on how more size it adds to the N3. I know some like otterbox..but I dont need/want a case that a Tank can roll over. I dont drop the phone often enough for something that add that much mass.

I wouldn't say I like it exactly but for me, it's a sensible idea. Same reason my smallest camera is in a bright yellow waterproof box on a bright yellow rope.

And my cable releases have bright tape stripes on them.

the otterbox cases are on the site now, i think i will wait to get the defender, i have only used the commuter for the S2 and so if there is any reason for not liking the defender, I would love to hear it.

o yeah. I share your sentiments especially about $. But I want something with very good protection as I have dropped my phone so so many times and I have to hand my phone to customers for credit card payment often so that's my excuse. I kind of like the idea of using the holster as a stand too ....

I am also considering the UAG case but leaning towards the otterbox now. has anyone used both and can compare the 2? Protection is the main thing for me....

Han, the Verizon store SHOULD stock them starting the 10th. eBay also has some, but the real ones from South Korea are expensive. If you have any kind of employee discount, go to the store Thursday. Or go to eBay and get a Chinese knock-off that looks just like the real thing. I'm quite happy with the way mine looks: hopefully it will FIT.

I have a Chinese knock off at home waiting for my 3, but I can tell you that I have at least a half dozen flip covers for my 2 that are knock offs too and they are all awesome. Save some money and try one of these out.

I'm a little hesitant about the Chinese knockoffs because some are saying that the S View screen feature does not work.

I will try the Verizon store Thursday morning when they open. But I'm not too hopeful.

I know Verizon too well, and I think it will be a miracle if they have them before Black Friday.

The only case i was able to find so far is the body glove which I bought on day one when I purchased my note 3 from my local sprint store corporate of course. I'm more of an otterbox guy myself but I couldn't let this beauty go unprotected :-( so I currently have a body glove but no luck finding anything more protective a.t.m. and as for wireless charging I haven't heard or seen anything I wish I have because I want to use it if possible no mods!!!

I'm a new note user and was wondering if someone can shine some light on how the s-pen works on a screen protector. That's my biggest concern looking for a case.

Yes, the camera/action menu/music app in the screen of the s view cover.
Without the s view cover and the lock screen secured with pin/password than you don't have the option "multiple widgets" under settings - device - lock screen - swipe options and so no option to have the camera function in your lock screen, only with the screen lock on "swipe" you have this.

So in short s view cover with note 3 secured with lock screen pin/password gives the camera/music/action menu

edit:
Sorry, misunderstood your question, not sure if the Chinese things give the same options as the Samsung s view cover.

I'm waiting for the spigen slim armor view. I like the cover idea and you can answer through the cover. But the selling factor for me is that it locks

I'm thinking about a simple diztronic TPU case, or the Spigen. They haven't announced it yet, but if they make this view case, it would look like the one for the S4, with a larger window. You can see the S4 version here:

SPIGEN SGP Galaxy S4 Case Slim Armor View | SPIGEN SGP

and there are several youtube reviews on it.

Sorry Kolio, missed your post.
What I have read from different sites is that the genuine S View cover has embedded pins that allow the device to wake and sleep when you open and close the cover, and that the cheap knockoffs don't have them.

Not sure if the actual functionality (S View area activated in the window) is affected at all.

I know the genuine one is expensive, but to me it looks classier and more understated. I figure I will just grimace and pay it.

They are selling them on Verizon, but you have to call and do it. It came out to a total of $62.04 which includes overnight shipping to my office.

I'm hoping the beast and his blanket get here about the same time.

I'm digging the new Spigen Neo Hybrid with the satin gold trim. I think this would look good with either color phone. Here's a link:

The bad news is it's not going to ship until October 30th.

Perhaps the case you're looking for isn't available yet, but,it's hard to go wrong w/a TPU Case until such is available.

Anyway, this case from I-BLASON seems to fit your needs (less water tightness):

Amazon.com: i-Blason Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Note III N9000 Prime Series Dual Layer Holster Case with Kickstand and Locking Belt Swivel Clip (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories
I ordered that case directly from I-Blason on the 4th and still nothing. They don't answer the phone or reply to emails. You might want to try another company. A lot of complaints on Facebook.

Just to keep you guys in the loop, I have black and white versions of UAG case on order (available as soon as released), and just received Seidio SURFACE. I will also get Spigen Neo Hybrid and Slim Armor. All intended for review, just waiting for my display model of Note 3 to arrive, sometime next week. As soon as everything in - get ready for a series of Twister reviews Unfortunately, I won't get Note 3 until Verizon sends me review model, so for now have to settle with display model.

THX!
You can scroll through the knock-off window,if you have the glove setting enabled, that's about it.

I probably won't opt for the real deal, don't mind paying for it,but,I'd have to try one out before forking down $60-$90 (std & QI ENABLED,avalable in 1-2 weeks from MOBILEFUN UK).

Looks nice, but, still feels a bit awkward in-hand.Ordered the "SAMSUNG" S-VIEW from e-Bay primarily because it was one of the few that were in-stock/shipping around the time I ordered my phone.I just wanted a couple of relatively cheap cases until the "perfect" case rolled along.

So,I've settled on this:

Amazon.com: Bear Motion Premium Bumper Ring Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Note III (Black) (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories

Ordered this:
Amazon.com: iloome Galaxy Note3 / Note 3 ScreenMate Flex Flexible Glass 8H Hardness Premium Screen Protector with Oleophobic Coating: Cell Phones & Accessories

But,I'm gonna wait to install the screen protector,if I ever do,& use this instead:

Are the buttons extra raised buttons on the actual case or are those the actual phone buttons?

I'm looking forward to it.In theory/appearances, this could seal any micro imperfections.
One thing I'll look for when it comes in:
How easy will it be to remove the coating?
Only reason I'm curious is that this will not work well with a screen protector installed over it, touch sensitivity will be adversely affected, it's an either/or,not both.

I'm not worried, I'd much rather have this coating/sealant than any screen protector.

One HUGE advantage would be that it plays nice w/any case, no curling/peeling to worry about.

According to the website description they are extra raised 'metalized' buttons, which will not flake and peal like painted plastic.
