Default Not 'Hi Galaxy'

Anyone think I can change it so I no longer have to say "Hi Galaxy" which is rather embarrassing but, say, something else like "Computer!" in a strong Scottish accent?

In S-Voice if you go to menu and then settings down to the Wake up section there is a Set wake-up command, the first option should allow you to change that. At least with the S4 it is that way.

From the time that I've had my device I've not used it other than having the app open to use it, so not really sure.

I wonder if you could launch Google Now with S Voice? I know it's an extra step, but worth a shot.

On a more serious note, I read that S Voice can be shut off or disabled; though I'm not sure if one has to launch S Voice and go into the settings there, or if the option is in the settings menu somewhere.

Under Manage apps there should be the disable option there.

One way it could be done is to use the app "Tasker" and "Autovoice". Tasker isn't the easiest to deal with at first but it is quite powerful. I've not used the Autovoice myself but I've heard that it can do quite a bit.

I just add a the voice app to my dock, it's quicker than a double tap of the home button for s-voice and you get Google's voice app instead.

I've tried to look for more information for the note 3 but can't find any information on it. In doing some searching I heard mention of 'Hands Free' for S Voice, not sure if that would be any help to you.

The only other option I can think of would be to try the Dragon Mobile Assistant. Just downloaded it and checked the settings and it has the ability to change the wake up command.

Okay
1. Settings
2. Device
3. Lock screen
4. Wakeup in lock screen
5. Record voice

You can even tailor it for specific commands rather than just waking up the phone / s voice

Hope this helps

Looks like settings are changed again with 4.3.

Can you guys press and hold the menu key to get google? I can on the Note 2 without any issues and press the mic icon in the search bar to speak.

Is that what some of you are looking for? Or did that change with 4.3?

Yes that option is still available but on 4.3 you can wake up s voice option by simply saying "hi galaxy" *insert command* but you can change that wake up command to something like "hello beautiful* or whatever you choose and s voice is ready to be used

Interesting they had to move the option elsewhere. In 4.1.2, you just go into S Voice settings to change the basic wake up phrase for S Voice and you're done. You can also setup 4 different wake up functions as well. No need to go into lock screen options for that.

I think some people are confusing the commands. The "Hi Galaxy" that Simon wants to reset is not the same as the command you set to unlock the phone or launch the camera that is mentioned in that video. "Hi Galaxy" launches S-Voice, the personal assistant program, which is why he wants to replace it with what he does. Which would be pretty darn funny to see someone do in public.

Unfortunately, I've not seen a way to do this.

Under Wake up > Voice Wake-up.

Can you actually click on the wording (left of the on/off box) and see if that opens a sub settings menu/options? Maybe it's in there?

Well, that just sucks for you guys. I think S Voice went backwards in development considering I can change it on my Note 2 running 4.1.2. Or could this be a limitation using 4.3? Considering it allows multi-user accounts? The S Voice commands are a global function and cannot be changed?

Just guessing here. I never seen or played with a Note 3 yet, so basing this on what I am seeing...

I use Open Mic+. I can set the wake up command to anything I want and it opens up Google Now. I remapped the home button in Apex Launcher settings to replace S-Voice with Google Now.

No more annoying Samsung search garbage

Unfortunately, I'm not sure that helps me. It's not what I use voice commands for. Making calls, sending texts, even occasionally booting the camera. That sort of thing.

Default Security must be set to 'Swipe'

A lot of guessing in the above responses. Security mode must be set to 'Swipe' in the Lockscreen setting in order to USE and CHANGE the S Voice wakeup command. If the setting is not 'swipe' you will NOT see the change settings and controls.

Note that when the security is set to 'Swipe' there is no security.

I don't think so but please proceed...

(My lockscreen security has always been solely on "swipe" so far.)

I played with a demo unit.

I can't believe Samsung went backwards in development. I liked it when I was saying 'My Preciioouusss..." to wake up S Voice. LOL. Just for fun. Of course, I changed it to something else now. But still like going back to that when I want to have some fun.

Default Galaxy Note 3 user 4.3 ver

l hear you Simon, Apparently there is no way to change the voice prompt in galaxy note 3 settings. What we can do for now is to voice it out and hope that Samsung hears to us and make some updates/fix for the next version.

note: there is also a bug here when using Voice input to type in this message panel. After voice input and You want to make a correction using the Spen by writing it, the cursor will hang at the very beginning of your message.

work around: click on your title text box and go back here on the message box.

hope it helps to anyone who might get stuck in the future. apparently the Spen has more improvements needed.

S-voice can wake up your phone when you've used the power button to turn off your phone. As far as I know Google voice cannot. It's a Samsung thing.

Can you wake up the phone initiate/answer phone calls and dictate replies to texts using Google now? Genuine question as I haven't used it.

No, Google Now won't wake the phone up from a cold sleep. I don't think you can even voice activate Now unless you're already in the Google Search/Now app. The only phones that can use Google Now without already being in the app are the Moto X and the Nexus 5, I think. So for now, we're stuck with S-Voice.

The only way I have found, reading various boards on this subject, is to use S-Voice to wake up the device and then open Google Search as follows

"Hi Galaxy"
"Open Google Search"
Once The app is open you can say:
"OK Google" and you can interact to your heart's content.
Sucks I Know but until Samsung makes a change or someone writes a routine to change it I see no other viable option.

Hello, I just got my S4 and that option is no longer there. I remember seeing it when I first set my phone up but now is not there. My phone has the latest update. When I go into S voice and scroll down to wake up command and press on it out just un checks it so you can't say hi galaxy. I want to be able to change it so I can say something like hi computer. Any ideas?

I was just wondering, KitKat uses Google Now, right?

So, when we get the KitKat updates, would it change the primary voice-app from S-Voice to Google Now? Or will we still be stuck with S-Voice?

EDIT: Nevermind. Did some Googling. Seems like you CAN get Google Now to Kitkat.
But you have to download Nova Launcher after you have upgraded to Kitkat.

In the below link is also how to get Google Now to your PC (if you use Google Chrome)

Samsung removed this feature with the latest version of S Voice.

That's probably for the best.
I was going to edit mine to "Hey Bitch",
(but then the wife would prolly come running when I don't want her to).
