Default Hooking up note 3 to Monitor results in low res output. Need Help!!

So I got a dock for my note 3 at work. It works great but when I hook up the monitor wich is full HD it only displays 640x480. No idea why. What can I do to make sure it displays full HD like the phone can?

1) Which dock are you using?
2) Is the monitor set to auto convert to the highest output/resolution setting?

It's a generic dock but seen reviews of it working. Note sure about monitor I assume so cause it works on my PC just fine.
