Default Lefties Lament

Little that can be done about this, but I just wanted to gripe a little.

I am a Palm user from way back, starting with the IIIxe.

I was so excited to get the Note 3, my first non-Palm with a stylus. Even though it's been years since I used a Palm, I am having a hard time getting used to the placement of the S pen.

Why on earth is it on the bottom, where a slip while removing it means it drops on the floor? I'm in a wheelchair, and a drop could spell the end of the pen. It seems wrong, even for a righty.

And hardest of all for me...I just automatically want to put it away in the top of the device. I'm sure I'm going to damage the tip sooner or later.

The bottom right corner seems like the absolute worst place for the pen for lefties.

IMO, it's actually perfect. This is where the stylus was located when I had the HTC Mogul and the HTC Touch Pro. Now, for your circumstances, since you're in a wheelchair, I can understand where there might be some concern. For that, I'd actually recommend getting a bigger S-pen. There are several different options available.

But, for the placement of the integrated S-pen, it's definitely great for a right handed person. I can see the inconvenience for a left handed person, but for a right handed person, pulling the pen from the top would not allow you to grab a hold of the pen and automatically start to write. If you were to pull from the top, that would require pulling the pen all the way out and then adjusting the s-pen in the writing hand, prior to writing. Keep in mind, Samsung had to design the phone for the larger demographic. Unfortunately, there are more right-handed people than left-handed.

Turn the phone upside down when removing the pen. Now it's up and on the left side. ;-)

With an extra added benefit of not touching the capacitive buttons on the 'bottom' when doing work. Righties don't have fun when that 'back' button gets hit accidentally...
