Default Delay when waking up

I have had my Note 3 for 2 weeks, updated to KitKat on the first day.

Every time i wake the phone up there is a 5 second delay for the screen to come on.

Suggestions?

Are you using the power or home button to wake your phone? If it's the home button there will be a delay since the phone is expecting a 2nd press of the button for s-voice.

If you turn s-voice off your screen will wake faster when you press the home button.

I use the power and home button and I have s voice disabled. The screen is dark but I can see the wallpaper and it takes a few seconds for the backlight to come on
