I've kind of given up on cases all together. Even though i really liked my rearth slim case, i find the note alot easier to grip and handle without a case. Amazing what the absence of a couple millimeters makes in handling the phone!

Hey all. I just got my Flap Case yesterday and wanted to share my thoughts.

1. This case is so slim. I mean SLIM. I can't even tell I have it on when I am just holding it.
2. This COMPLETELY covers the front of the phone and leaves NONE of the glass exposed.
2. This replaces the back cover plate with a textures cover vs. a slick cover. Personally, I like this MUCH better!

The only real complaint I was able to find about this case was that the "flap hangs down when you try to take pictures and it can be a little hard to hold". Now, I took several pic with this case installed and the first couple, I thought they were right, however, once I found the right positioning for my hands, I don't give it a second thought.

Be warned, there are 2 different types of "OEM" Cases on sale out there on the internet.

You want to make sure you get a good set of pictures of the ACTUAL ITEM, not a "similar item".

The TRUE OEM one replaces the back cover and has the flap, the knockoff "OEM" covers the back cover and ads bulk and is not as nice.

I have ordered both (eBay). The true OEM was from a seller in the US, where the knockoff OEM was from China. The one from China will not get here until the end of April, so I will post a review and pics about that one when it arrives.

For today, you get to see the true OEM case.

As I took it out of the box

Sides (Installed)
Sorry for the fuzzy, but could not get the camera to focus clearly.

Thanks all!

One thing though, as some people have stated, it gets to be a little off-white after a while. Get some White Leather cleaner and 5-10 minutes and poof, back to white.

I still LOVE this case, I have had a LOT of comments about my phone, but I have also had a LOT of comments about the case too!

I upgraded to the Seidio Active w/ Kickstand in the Glossed White color. Here's what it looks like:

I really like it in white with the kickstand much more than the plain black and no kickstand. My first Android was the original Evo so it feels like a super size version of that. Plus it still has the same protection of the one I reviewed before, which is great since I sell my phone every year and put the money towards a new one. Highly recommended.

You might be able to find it on Amazon for cheaper though, once it's been out for a few weeks.

Has anyone seen this? Aluminum case for GNote. I'm curious about this. It's not available yet (on pre-order). Availability date of May 18th.

My note came in today so I went to best buy and bought the flip cover. Used my rewards and got 10% off so 30.00 out the door. Very happy with it. Only downside was I didn't even have my note for 2 hours and I broke one the tabs on my oem back cover when I tried to pull it off

FWIW, flip covers are on Amazon for $15.

Got this $8 case for mounting in my car, and it's adjustable kickstand. Adds very little bulk, makes it easier to use w/one hand (more grip), and can be mounted in the holster front or back.

No replacement cover with mine. It's a (2) piece model...one covers the phone itself, and never comes off. The other is the holster w/kickstand.

http://www.amazon.com/Rubberized-Holster-Samsung-Galaxy-GT-N7000/dp/B007L7PEAG/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt

I "thought" I had ordered (2) similar models, from diff. vendors, in case the phone case wouldn't mount in the holster w/the screen exposed, but wound up fat fingering the order and getting a GSII case.

Even though I'm getting the white Note, I think the white cover will get dirty quite easily, though it does look very nice! I was thinking maybe the orange case, and it should go nice with the white.

Default Pricey but nice

I just got the Zenus vintage leather case for my Note and couldn't be happier with it. Ran about $60 but it's a really nice case. You can find it on Amazon: Amazon.com: Galaxy Note Leather Case Prestige Genuine Leather Vintage G-note Diary Series - Vintage Brown: Cell Phones & Accessories

Fits great and seems really well made.

Based on experience, which type of case (soft, hard, plastic, metal) is the best to protect the Galaxy Note from being damaged by drops? The problem I have with the original Samsung flap case is that when it is opened up during the drop, the sides and the front of the Note will not be protected.

Thought about something like that. I carry keys and wallet in right pocket and phone in left. Using a case like this, I could get rid of the wallet.

I bought the Rearth Ringke SLIM case in SF Matte for my Note; LOVE IT!

The screen protector was jacked but they sent me a replacement immediately.

I'm using the case and the protector and it's just great--I truly love it. Way better than my damn Casemate SLIM I had.

Their screen protector is also great; no issues using it or the spen with it.

I also purchased Samsung's flip case. The backing is slightly thicker than the original, and does give more protection. Great case. I like the fact you can take calls with it closed. Saves my screen getting dirty.

I got the Samsung flip case as well. It is pretty nice, but it's kind of awkward when trying to take a picture. Other than that it works very well.

I got this case for my Note based on the compliments on this forum. I am very happy with it. It is incredibly slim and the screen protector is perfect: a little stiffer than zaggs, (more like a Moshi protector) but crystal clear so it doesn't diminish the screen quality.

But with all these positives there had to be a negative right?!? How do you take it off the darn phone? I popped the phone in it and now I can't get it off without applying the kind of force that might snap it in two.

Top right corner. Pop it over then the left top corner.

Don't try to do it form the bottom; it's made to go bottom in first than top, and the same coming out; top out first, then bottom.

Got the Diztronic Matte TPU case tonight and the best so far. I had a couple that I had bought from Bell, but the Diztronic is my fav so far.

Easy to get to the buttons, and it accommodates my Gas.T screen cover perfectly.

Truly horrible junk: Amazon.com: Eagle Hard Shield Shell Cover Snap On Case for AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I9220 i717 + Car Charger-Black: Cell Phones & Accessories
Cheap, SLIPPERY plastic. Kickstand is whimpy plastic and falls out when talking, but is hard to get out when you need it. Phone fits loosely in case and rattles around. Included car charger is junk. Wasted $15 on this one.

Really nice!: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007JW6HLI/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
Sticky in the hand, but slips in and out of pocket easily. Very thin. Looks nice. Great value.

I really want to try a nice kickstand case though, that is somehow thin as can be. The above-mentioned Zenus case might be worth a shot: Samsung Galaxy Note Capsule Stand Slide Series - Galaxy Note - Cell Phone

Just got my otterbox commuter case and I love it. Tryed the defender but I really don't like the plastic piece over the screen or how big it is.

How much thicker is it? I have a Rearth slim case but thinking I might need a bit more protection--not sure.

I just don't want the Note to be any more monstrous than it is.

It looks like replacement covers are available. I just happened to look at the e-store on Bell Canada and they have it listed for $20 Cdn. Don't know if it's available in the U.S. though...

I caved in and decided to order the SGP Glas.T to protect the screen and an Otterbox Commuter case to protect the phone. I seriously hope these are compatible with each other. Considering the Glas.T adds some depth (a few millimeters) to it. Also ordered SGP's USB car charger too.

Boxwave didn't last me long. The screen is scratched here and there and starting to affect input commands. The Boxwave leather wallet case, although nice looking, doesn't protect the phone well on top, bottom and sides. It is very well padded to protect the screen and back of the phone, but that's all. It's also loose fitting, so if flipped upside down, there goes your phone! The Incipio Feather Light backer only covers the back and sides of the phone. It's looks exactly like the Case Mate Barely There backer SuzukiDuki posted earlier in this thread. I was able to fit it inside the leather case (tight fit), but at least it won't slip out of the leather case if flipped upside down.

Default Spigen SPG Valentinus and Ava Karen

Several days into carrying around my Note with a VERY classy Ava Karen case on it, and I have to admit, it's bulky, but VERY well built and protective folio/wallet style case.

amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Wallet-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B0081IV0SO/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1338074046&sr=8-2-fkmr0

I'm mostly a pants front or shirt pocket carrier, and really want a foldover/flip style protection for the screen. The basic Samsung Flip case covers the screen, but little else is protected.

These cases seem to cradle the phone in some very nice highly protective foam padding covered in faux enameled leather or genuine leather. Also, the phone is nested in a TPU style carrier.

All fittings and access ports are well aligned, and well protect the device.

The Ava Karen case is way to dressy, although quite attractive. I think I'm going to switch to the more basic Valentinus genuine leather one for every day?

amazon.com/SPIGEN-GT-N7000-Samsung-Leather-Valentinus/dp/B006ZZTCZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338074319&sr=8-1

I can highly recommend this case if the increased bulk is not a turnoff.

Default Spigen GLASSt screen protector

Much like NeoGrandizer, I also opted for the new Spigen GLAS t screen protector for the Note. This seems to be the ULTIMATE screen protector!

http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Premium-Tempered-Protector/dp/B007CP5EW0/ref=pd_sim_e_1

Even though it's only 1/2 of a millimeter thick, it's DEFINATELY thick enough to notice. They have several warnings about compatibility with some cases on their site.

BUT, it's actual tempered glass, NOT plastic or gel or film. Coatings seem to reject oils and fingerprints, and I'm not noticing any loss of sensitivity, either to finger or s-pen.

It's not a matte surface, so glare might become an issue in bright light, but I haven't really noticed any difference from the original surface glare.

Overall, just about the best screen protector I've ever seen. Kinda pricy though.

BTW, I'm NOT an employee, just a very impressed user!

Ringke Slim case is the best case hands down for the Note because it add no bulk to the phone

The commuter makes the note about a quarter inch thicker but I think its worth it for the protection.

The defender is about 1/16 of an inch bigger than the commuter.

But I get paranoid as to how well it'll protect it if it's dropped.

@JLMonty: Yeah, I saw those cases at SGP, but passed on them. It looks like a slim case slapped on to a fold out leather wallet. If I'm going to pay that much for a case, I might as well pull out the extra bucks and get a full leather one. but that's just me...

The only thing I'm worried about the Glas.T is the all or nothing installation. That's scared me a bit. Definitely different than how I've been applying the film protectors on. Well have to see when it comes. Hopefully I can get it mostly dust/fur free (which is going to be a challenge considering I also have 3 pets).

i saw a couple of really cool battery covers for the note on ebay.

i was hoping to get a royal blue battery cover in a chrome finish..

but 100% of all cool battery covers are not compatible with the AT&T version of the G-Note. They are ONLY made for the international version. The pins on the battery covers wont match up and the international G-note battery cover and they do not come with a NFC chip. (i wasnt gonna use the NFC chip anyway).

if i want a battery cover to fit my AT&T g-note it has to either be OEM black or white

i'm not into cases but a unique battery cover would have been AWESOME.

I hope they make some soon

Glad I listened to the input of some of the people on this forum and purchased the Rearth Ringke SLIM case. What a great case for $25. Fits PERFECTLY, cutouts are PERFECT, the finish looks great, and it really truly doesn't add any bulk to the device - which was something I thought people here were exaggerating about.
The plastic plugs for the charger and earpiece ports are not gimmicky, flimsy and likely to come out like I expected, but well-made, solid, stay put and fit flush and look good.
The screen protector that the case came with is GREAT. I have ALWAYS been against screen protectors, not only because they typically are impossible for me to apply, but end up feeling soft and sticky as opposed to hard and smooth like the bare glass of the device (not to mention the glass our phones come with is so hard, you really don't need a screen protector.) However, not only did this screen protector fit well, but it was easy to apply with NO bubbles, and after a day or two of "drying" it almost feels like there is no protection at all (that's what she said) even when using the pen!

A+ Ringke... will buy again!

gorilla glass is scratch resistant (im sure we all know this)
since it is scratch resistant you dont need a screen protector at all.

the weakness of the gorilla glass is keys and coins.
as long as you dedicate a pocket to your phone and your phone only.
you are golden!!!

funny thing is... when the screen on my captivate broke
the super thin AmoLED layer is what cracked

while the gorilla glass remained perfectly brand new with no scratches or cracks whatsoever... even after two years+ of usage

i never rocked a screen protector on it and i dont know how i managed to break it in such a weird way but i did haha
