Yeah, I think it's a matter of time before JB ROMs come out. It will be a no brainer to decide to flash one, since I'm confident AT&T will stop at ICS, if that even ever is released.
Samsung wont be updating anything to Jellybean after the way things played out with ICS. Pretty much if you want it you will be buying a new device which is going to give Microsoft and Apple a much bigger edge in the near future.

Well, there are other manufacturers of Android, besides just Samsung.

Well ask yourself why no ICS release yet and why Samsung is currently working on the JB port for the SIII. That means all the resources that could have gone into ICS for the Note have been shifted towards the newer device. SII and SIII already got ICS so apparently they just don't have the time or don't care enough about Note owners (the minority) sitting in lingo.
By the time JB is available and properly tweaked for the Note you can expect Android 6.0 or greater to be available on newer devices. The longer they delay the updates on the carrier side the less chance older devices will actually get future updates. I don't believe the SII or the Note will ever see an official version of JB. But if the Note 2 comes along we can expect a long wait if it ever does happen.
Google is primarily interested in new handset activation and increased market share above all else, not in creating a unified ecosystem. The handset makers have sold you a phone and hope to never hear from you again until it's time to buy again. And finally, the carriers already have you hooked up to a multi-year contract and don't care a jot about what operating system your smartphone is running.

Ics to jb will take much less time and effort than gb to ics. You can't use the former examples to explain the latter.
They get the brand new phones on the newest OS as fast as possible. If HTC got the one X to jb and Sammy still had the siii on ics sales would plummet.
Users with the note are already locked into the contract, so they take their time.
Yep ICS is out for att, and Samsung released source last night.
It's the carriers that are mostly to blame here for updates to ICS...
JB is an easier adoption from ICS than ICS from GB according to cygenomod... No guarantee we will officially get JB from Samsung of course, but the ICS fiasco is not the same situation

While I would love to get JB eventually I just got ICS and am effing loving it. I chose to not buy a Nexus device so I can't complain about not getting updates immediately.

This is the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy Note. The only difference between the AT&T Galaxy Note and the international version is a different processors.
