Curious, why freeze TW, why not just install Nova Launcher, then select Nova as default?
Because I thought that if I just deleted TouchWiz it was going to default to the regular ICS UI, but it did not. So, I got Nova and it worked perfectly.

I would follow droidcentric's advice about uninstall, and reinstall new Kies download. But I would add to that a restart after the uninstall, to clean out the system after the drivers are removed.
If that doesn't fix it I recommend you turn on the Windows firewall, and unload all of your security software. That's what made mine work. Don't just disable part of it like active scan (AKA real-time protection), but then leave all of the other aspects your security software running -- such as network behavior monitoring, firewall, anti-rootkit this-and-that... security software has necessarily become very intrusive.
I hope it helps. ...and don't forget to reload your security software!
I just unrooted and returned to stock; FYI, it's a PITA if you are using custom roms.
You have to unroot; then flash the right modem; then Kies will pick up the phone and do it's update.
I'm curious to see if the "actual" AT&T rom is better in terms of battery over custom roms. I don't mind the custom, just wish someone would release a plain jane like the Galaxy Nexus had from Google. I don't want anyone's stupid attempts at graphics, etc.
Anyways, to confirm, I too am getting ICS off of Kies right now.
I was having problems with this laptop seeing my phone, kies would connect at all and then I was reading about the UCLE2 problem and didn't feel like dealing with unrooting, reflashign to stock from Goldie and all that crap so i just followed this

Is this .tar file good for those of us who rooted are phones to Onlyone rom? Do we have to go back to stock before downloading this file. Is the official att ICS worth going to over Onlyone rom?
I had to run Kies in a Windows VM because the Mac version was crap. I went straight from the ICS leak to official 4.0.4 by doing an emergency flash. It took forever.

Kies is trash. I'm really annoyed lol. After finally getting the serial number and model number right it gives me this BS:
Doesn't tell me what to do or anything. I'm on the leaked non-root ICS fyi if anyone knows what I should do. I don't wanna use the tar file cause it'll wipe everything but I'm heading towards that cause of this horsecrap.
After flashing the radio; Kies will pick up the phone and let you update to UCLF6 which is ICS for AT&T Note.
LAST NOTE: Do not uninstall Kies! The new firmware requires that Kies and the drivers be installed in order to access your phone's internal memory through Windows Explorer (shows up as a device.) If you try to use the drivers from the previous firmwares, it will fail to install and your phone will not connect to the computer. It took me an hour to figure this crap out until I realized that the new Kies (that you have to download in order to upgrade to ICS) has a new set of USB drivers nested inside it.
That's how i did it

I tried to get Kies to work but never could get the Kies update to work. Finally went to AT&T and they updated my phone. Don't know what I will do if there are any fixes that require Kies. If they can't do OTA then this l is my last Samsung and probably my last Android phone. Too many fingers in the pie. I have my issues with Apple and Microsoft but my experience is that they usually get it right , if not, at least they provide someone to talk to in order to fix it.
Got ICS on my Note! Loving it so far. Face Unlock is a big meh. Not very accurate. Maybe its my face LOL Everything else is great! Camera is speedy. Havent tried NFC yet. Or Beam.

Samsung Galaxy Note LTE with ICS 4.0.4

Minor lag here and there but it's a huge improvement over GB especially due to being able to disable data without using airplane mode to save juice. I get lag while opening apps from time to time but scroll lag has greatly improved. My complaint is the lack of productivity apps that Samsung promised as it's main selling point. I don't see much of the features that were promised in future commercials either. No built in image or video editing baked in, no photoshop touch support among other things that made me desire a phablet over a mere phone. The thing that does make me very happy is that ICS has finally unrestricted access to the usb host kernel.
There's quite a bit of image editing software built in.
It might be plenty for amateurs but not enough for someone who is even just a wee bit serious about mobile photo editing. There is no support for curves adjustments, non destructive layer adjustments, 3D editing or raw file support among other things that are available with full blown tablets. I was really hoping they would light a fire under the feet of Adobe and get them to finally support the Note with ICS. I'd even be happy to fork over the cash for PST. However it seems the only way to get tablet apps on my Phablet is by installing hacked apps which leads to developers crying foul over piracy and revenue losses.
In fact this freebie from the app store is better then what the Note offers in many respects.

Since I have done my Software update from Samsung my phone is running worse. My home page doesn't come back up right away when switching screens. And my messages icon says I have messages but I already opened them. I also noticed massive battery loss since the up grade. I also found that the word "isn't", is not in the device any more. Lots of strange things since the update. Really annoying things too. Anyway to fix all these little gremlins? Like the new options though- Data usage Tracker? Yes!
I have been trying for three weeks to get the keis to recognize my phone, I have called and spoken to "global support" No Help, I have spoken with ATT No help, I have had the phone replaced, no help...Samsung finally told me today that the problem is with the Android system and to call Google!!! ATT is useless because they keep telling me to call Samsung....Samsung says you can wait for 30-45 min for a upper level tech to help, but they can't be sure that they can fix it...Then they say to send the phone in for three weeks and they will flash it! Something about 64 bit doesn't always work and I should go and find a 32 bit computer to get it downloaded, but then that won't work on my 64 bit system...it's all a run around!!!

Amen...You go to ATT they tell you to go to Samsung and their people are best at apologizing for the inconvienence....today I was told that it's an Android problem and I should speak to Google....yea...goood luck with speaking to anybody about that!! three weeks I have been trying and ATT keeps on telling me the server is busy to try later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy Note. The only difference between the AT&T Galaxy Note and the international version is a different processors.
The AT&T version uses a dual-core Snapdragon for better 4G LTE capabilities... Read More
