No dumb Q's just dumb A's.
If it's like Apex (and it sure seems it's a lot like it) you just drag apps onto one another to create the folder. Then hold the folder and click edit to give it a name. I made the mistake of trying to drag a 1x1 widget into a folder last night, heads up, that don't work. hehehe.
Just my $.02. I love the customization of Nova Launcher - so much so that I spent the 4 bucks for pro. However, lately I've been experiencing a lot of redraw. I'd say roughly 75% of the times I hit HOME, the screens redraw. I think I might test Apex out to see if I experience the same problems.
The only time I ever experience redraw is when I clear memory and close applications on the task manager. Nova Launcher with ICS has turned an already amazing phone into...I don't really know, but I like it A LOT. Seriously though, I can't say enough. It unlocks the true capabilities of this phone. Apple users are blown away.
Apex is acting wacky on me now, the screen goes nuts and I get messed up graphics. Anyone else that's using it have this happen to them? I'm now tempted to give Nova a try and see how it works out but darn I'd miss the themes from Apex.
I liked Go Launcher for a while but Apex took its place.
Speaking of which, the problem I was having with Apex turned out to be the Chrome theme (I died a little on the inside when I had to disable that). :'(
Started using Apex (free version, so far) and really like it. It appears that LauncherPro has not been updated in any way to work well with ICS, so decided on Apex.
It's very nice and smooth, almost slick feeling. I like that I have my multiple docks back after trying to get comfortable with the updated TouchWiz.

I'm still occasionally getting the graphics wonk glitch with Apex, but I'm almost positive it's caused by specific widgets. I don't know for sure which ones yet, but it doesn't do it all the time, only when certain conditions are present. I hope an update will address this problem.
I've been following this thread for a few days, since I just got Nova myself, along with Folder Organizer and Swipepad. This is my first 3rd party launcher, and this really blows me away! After numerous hours of configuring everything thing, I've gotten to the point that most of my activity is done with Swipepad, and I eliminated all but one home page!! It may even go further than this! The combination of these three apps are amazing! I do everything so damn fast now! Am I the only one that has eliminated homepages? Swipepad is a must-have app!
Seriously... Am I the only one that is nearly "homeless" and loving it?
Actually using Nova I am down to only 2 Homepages and 2 dock pages LOL Which is a HUGE change for me. I used to have 7 loaded pages.. I LOVE folders lol

Right now, I'm not using much in the way of widgets. I have pure calendar agenda and beautiful weather forecast and that's about it. Will probably add "make your own clock" for Day and Date but can't think of much else at the moment.
Been using Apex for the last several days and quite like it (tried Nova for several days before this). They're both good and I would recommend either of them. Nova acted funny with the picture frame widget when gestures were enabled on homescreens. Apex doesn't seem to have that issue. Small thing, and very specific problem, but in my case it was important and annoying. Speed-wise they seem about the same to me. Overall feature set is great with both launchers.
Apex is getting worse with this graphics glitch to the point I might have no choice but to go back to TWL. It goes wonky on almost any music player widget, several clock widgets, etc... Not sure anymore what is or isn't causing it but if this many widgets cause it then it isn't worth the effort. I'm heavy on widget use. I listen to music, watch videos, track the weather, time, you name it, all through my phone docked next to me 24/7. The widgets were probably the biggest factor that made me get rid of the iPhone, I love 'em! I shot an email to Apex about the problem today, if they give me an answer I'll post it here. Hopefully there's a fix in the works.
Regarding TWL, could I disable it (TwDVFSApp, TwLauncher and TwWallpaperChooser) without any ill effects on the Note? I'm not rooted and wondering. I like Nova Launcher alot and now going off TWL.
I've heard people say they've gotten rid of it, it looks to me from the list of programs that it can be deleted, however I personally wouldn't get rid of it, just to be on the safe side. Always best to have a backup launcher.

Thanks. Rogers Note only allows a user to disable (not uninstall). I will probably try it and see what happens. Worst case is something breaks, I can enable it again. So I guess there's no big loss there except for time spent experiementing...
I've heard that name before, what exactly is a "Rogers Note"?
It's a Canadian Note and the carrier I got it from is Rogers hence Rogers Note. Telus and Bell are other carriers that sell the Note.
Actually discovered I can't disable TWL. I can force close but not disable. Only thing I can disable is TwWallpaperChooser. Not a big thing. As you mentioned, it can act as a backup launcher. So much for that idea. lol.
Hmm, I didn't actually try to delete mine, I just noticed that it's in the program list and can be uninstalled. I'd never heard of Rogers, I guess they're similar to our AT&T and you have basically the same phone I do though.
I used Apex for a while it's one of my favorites. Using Nova right now. The issue with the very many launchers I've tried is the frigging LAG. Seriously. 1.5GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM should not be struggling whatsoever with drawing a couple icons and swiping between home screens. The same hardware on a Gingerbread Note was almost lag free compared to my Note on ICS.
So far the Nova launcher while keeping a minimal number of icons is the smoothest. If I start filling up the home screen with icons then it lags horribly to swipe from one home screen to another and even long pressing an icon to delete it then dragging the icon around lags insanely. Not so if I only have a few icons.
Ah well I still love my Note but Jelly Bean can't come soon enough!
I agree. There's a surprising amount of lag. I hope (but don't expect) that Samsung will release JellyBean for the Note. Hopefully a little butter will go a long way...else I might be tempted to root...
Apex sent a reply to me, which is in broken Engrish so I can only attempt to transrate it so we can understand it.
Basically they said they're working on a version for Jelly Bean that they hope will resolve the problems with the app on all versions of Android OS. Not sure how that'll happen, the guy couldn't really answer me when I asked because I think I broke his limit of Engrish at that point. I guess the short answer is, wait for Jerry Beem, upgrade phone to jerry beem, upgrade Apex to Jerry Beem version, hope for the breast.

I'm using Nova Launcher and don't experience any lag. Okay, screen refresh may take a while, but speed is about the same as GB TW. I've jammed one homescreen full of widgets. 4 (1x1) contacts, 2 (4x1) BeWeather Pro widgets, 1 (2x1) AgendaWidget Plus, 2 (1x1) Battery Pro HD, 1 (1x1) Barometer Pro, 1 (2x1) My Data Manager, 1 (4x1) PlayerPro and a live wallpaper in the background. The second homescreen only has the Note PowerSaving widget and 2 other widgets. I'm still trying to 'fix' my homescreens to what I need.
But I also don't have any fancy transition animations running, so maybe that's why it's not lagging.
If you get the Nova free version anything in setup that has the green flag next to it that says Prime is what else you get when ordering the paid version.
My main complaints about Nova is that if you go above 5X5 there is a big lag when switching from page to page.
Also if you use the higher grids the Widgets really get distorted and don't fit correctly sometimes. In Nova you can overlap widgets but they still don't fit as they do with TW.
I was on Nova Prime, which is great, and just switched to GO Launcher EX. Buttery smooth on my Note LTE. Great customization factor with GO as well. A++

I've just installed nova launcher today, I'm just having one problem.
When I press the home button it goes to the middle home screen, instead of the first one like it does in ICS.
Does anyone have any idea how I do this, it's quite frustrating.

Go to Nova Settings>Desktop>Home screens
Press and hold on the green check and move it to the default home screen you want.
Final $0.25 day sale has Nova Launcher Prime. So anyone who wants to go Prime; this is a great opportunity! But better be quick as it's a one day sale.

my app drawer seemed to lag a little with GoLauncher...its smoother with Apex for me.
I bought Nova Prime. I'm enjoying it, but I can't figure out how/if you can add an app to a folder that you have already created.
I know you drag an app over an app to create a folder. But it seems once you name it, that's it. If I decide later on that I want to add another app to the folder, when I drag the app icon over the folder icon, the folder icon moves around and won't let me add the new app to it.
I also have Apex and you can add apps to exisitng folders with it. Is there something I'm missing in Nova?

Reason: grammer
I bought Nova Prime. I'm enjoying it, but I can't figure out how/if you can add an app to a folder that you have already created.
Open the folder on the homescreen, hit the menu button and then press add. It'll poplulate a list of apps you can add. But hit the 'select multiple' on the bottom left of the screen if you want to add multiple apps and not a single one.
If it's in your app drawer, go into Nova Settings>Drawer>Drawer Groups and press Folder. Then hit the folder you want to add apps to.

Thank you!! That is exactly was what I was looking for!
I tried the paid versions of both Nova and Apex after getting the ICS update a few months ago, and decided, then, Nova was the way to go. Then I switched to Apex because of one major annoyance that I was experiencing with Nova. I didn't notice any speed difference between the two launchers at that time.
Over several weeks leading up to yesterday I had been experiencing increasing amounts of lag as well as other little UI bugs with my Note. I tried going back from Apex Launcher to TouchWiz and Go Launcher to see if those were any better; they weren't. Both were just as bad, if not worse. I had resigned to waiting to see if the JellyBean update would fix things, somehow reluctant to try Nova Launcher, again. Yesterday, frustrated and with a bit of time on my hands, I decided to give Nova Launcher another go.
It was like I had a new phone (or had my old phone back).
The user experience is fast, virtually lag-free, and I'm happy with my Note again. It's a huge improvement from what I remember of Nova Launcher a few months back. For a while there I was considering picking up a Note 2 just for the speed boost even though I don't like anything else about the Note 2 enough to justify replacing my current phone.
I had convinced myself that the Launchers were just becoming too big and inefficient with each upgrade and that the solution would either be (1) Jellybean or (2) a more powerful phone. This wasn't the case at all. If you're unhappy with the performance of your phone with one Luancher, as obvious as it may seem, try a different launcher. You may be pleasantly surprised.
For now, in my opinion, Nova Launcher is king.

This is the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy Note. The only difference between the AT&T Galaxy Note and the international version is a different processors.
The AT&T version uses a dual-core Snapdragon for better 4G LTE capabilities... Read More
