That is NOT "IN" the US, but it is closer. I don't see why people will pay a grossly for a grossly overpriced and unsupported device they should be available within the month for less than $200 including support.
But for those who have money to throw away, Amazon now has the Note available through a few sellers, not sure what their deal is, but looks like the best price is now $773.

I will wait until it is available from At&t or will found something else that will get close.
Do you have some source that says that they will get the Galaxy Note by the end of this year and on what carrier?
The last time I heard of something close to a guaranteed release in the U.S. was that an AT&T version of the phone went through the FCC in September.
But since then... Samsung has not even said a word about the Galaxy Note coming to the U.S. They've also let us down with the super delayed release of the Galaxy S2 which is one of the most popular phones in the world and would have easily put a dent into iPhone sales.
IF the Note comes out within a month, it would compete against the Galaxy Nexus and S2 Skyrocket. Both Samsung phones. I don't think Samsung would do that given their recent history. It seems like they'd rather wait and sell the leftovers to the U.S.

The FCC filing was an international version of the phone, however Best Buy did release the AT&T Nexus which was listed as a GT model number.
Secondly, Samsung releases phones all the time that you may think compete with each other, which in a way you could say they do, but they actually don't. The Galaxy Note is in a different market segment than the Galaxy Nexus or Skyrocket. The Skyrocket is only useful to those in LTE areas (which will be a total of 15 cities on the 20th which is a far cry from being widely available). It also has a Snapdragon processor which people have a disliking for rather than the Exynos processor. The Galaxy Nexus has only been confirmed for Verizon so far, which means that AT&T could instead have the Note as a way to show customers they still have something. Also, the Nexus still isn't in the same market as the Note. The Note is appealing to business people and those that really like big screens or don't want to have to buy a separate tablet. Also by having an integrated stylus it makes use of that as well.
Also, I believe there were reports that actually it was the carriers to blame for the long time it took for the Galaxy SII to release here. Verizon supported Motorola and HTC over Samsung because they produced better phones for their CDMA frequencies. They may have also delayed it to ACTUALLY compete with the iPhone. I mean the phone was announced and released around the same time, so perhaps the carriers or Samsung wanted to see how their phone stacked up directly with the competition instead of playing it safe and releasing the phone early.
However, with all that in mind there is one piece of evidence that shows at least carriers are THINKING about releasing the Note and that it is in the Americanized form:
Scroll down to see what appears to be the Galaxy Note. Notice that the front facing camera is in the same place and you can tell the width of the phone is wider than a Galaxy SII.

That doesn't look big enough IMO to be the Note.

Yeah I am aware that Samsung releases all kinds of phones... but like you said... the people who buy non-smartphones and physical keyboard phones are not the same ones that buy the Galaxy S2 and Infuse 4G. People who bought the Infuse 4G were probably the same ones that upgraded to Galaxy S2 most recently.
And... I don't buy the whole thing about how a certain smartphone is targeting a certain crowd especially when it comes to the high-end smartphones. The Galaxy S2 like the iPhone works for everyone. It's probably just EASY for them to advertise it as a "business" phone but in reality... it works for everyone. I mean... it's not just business people that take notes (or play tic-tac-toe) in a meeting, right?

Probably... most likely... in fact, YES.... but it still doesn't bode well for the Note. =( If Samsung and AT&T do not have that nice working relationship, it's probably gonna delay again. The ONLY reason that the carriers will succumb to carrying Samsung's products (eventually) is because they are immensely popular and they know people will rush to buy a phone that's already behind.

The phone in the picture looks very similar to the Galaxy S2. The buttons match and the size also kinda match.
Yeah... I am just skeptical =( SORRY!

First of all, I don't know how you got feature phones and QWERTY keyboards from my post but okay.
Secondly, I have to disagree with you. Even though the Note is a high end device, It would attract a totally different crowd than those seeking the GSII. If you were to put the GSII and the Note at the same price, you would have one type of person buying the GSII and one type buying the Note. For one, the Note has a one inch larger display than the GSII. For some people that is a no-go. To them, 4.3 inches is big enough and they don't want anything larger. The other thing is while you and I may see the usefulness of the stylus, there are people out there that think it is just one more thing to fall off the device and get lost. Or they don't see themselves as using it that often or wanting to take notes or draw on their device. There are even differences between those who would want the Note and the Nexus like the fact that the Note has a more powerful processor and unique software that makes use of the stylus, while the Nexus has a unique style (concave glass, no capacitive buttons) and a plain Google UI (no Touchwiz or Sense UI). I mean you can see the differences and the different people the Note would appeal to just buy looking at articles and seeing the comments below.

One of the reasons I WANT to believe AT&T will offer the Note is because they are trying to appeal to the business crowd. AT&T and Verizon are constantly fighting over offering the best business technology which is why AT&T has invested in their inventory of tablets. This phone for them would be a golden opportunity to appeal to that crowd. It would be aimed at those who want a tablet and phone all in one. Plus, I think they are seeing that devices like the GSII SELL QUICKLY.

Ok, now it comes to this. I spent some time doing not only some comparisons to the Galaxy Note but also how it is different from the GSII. I also did some calculations which I promise you I did not expect the result. I honestly thought I would have been proven wrong because even I was trying to see if it really was just the Skyrocket or the GSII.

I thought that's what you meant when you said Samsung has a lot of phones available at the same time but they don't all target the same crowd. Hence, they don't really compete with one another. So I just made an example of that.

If Note and S2 were the same price, I am pretty sure a lot of men with medium to large hands would be attracted by the Galaxy Note. I just don't see how it attracts primarily "business men" like most people are saying.
In fact, I think it attracts almost everyone that are able to hold the device. I always believed that the iPhone was too small and reading on it was even worse. That's why I shifted to getting the Infuse 4G and Galaxy S2 after seeing their nice and big AMOLED display. So in essence, the only people that the Note alienates are women who on average have smaller hands and the Note would be "too big" to carry around. It also wouldn't look fashionable for some. (Ironically, Samsung stated that the Note targets women too because it can fit in their handbags... yeah I don't know about that ...LOL)
Also, there are many of us (students) that have used PDAs (or Palm Pilot) for school. I actually had several friends that made use of PDAs during class to take notes with an add-on keyboard (including myself). A lot of my friends that were into gadgets loved the PDA. Btw, this was high school where laptops/cell phones weren't allowed in class. I think a lot of those same people that loved the PDA would love the Galaxy Note. So it's not just business people.
On a smaller scale, there is another popular device that takes advantage of the touch screen and stylus: Nintendo DS and 3DS. Sure, it's a gaming device but they have sold over 150 million units worldwide and that's not even counting "used-hardware" sales at Gamestop, Ebay and Amazon. So we are talking about hundreds of million people that are familiar with the stylus and have spent countless hours with a stylus.
I don't think I am alone when it comes to being a student in my 20s that is a Nintendo DS/3DS owner AND took advantage of the PDA when they were popular.

I can't disagree with you here. I have seen first hand where carriers give discounted rates to schools (my university had a deal with AT&T) and businesses.
But the problem is... the Note may appeal to the Android crowd but the iPhone is so deeply rooted in some people's minds (including business people) that it will probably fail to reach everyone. I mean it's incredible how well the iPhone sells despite being the vastly inferior phone. It just SEEMS like AT&T doesn't want Samsung to put a dent in the iPhone sales.
Recent history tells me that AT&T will wait like they did with the S2. I have heard that they waited on the S2 because they already had the Infuse 4G (which they waited as well). Now they have SII and Skyrocket. It gives them more reason to delay the Galaxy Note until next year.
Heck, look at what Verizon is doing. They may delay the Galaxy Nexus once AGAIN. People still haven't been able to do pre-orders. I think the reason why they are doing this is because they want to make sure the Motorola Droid RAZR (crap phone) has had enough time to sell. Once it has sold enough, Verizon will probably want to wait out the 14 day-return period. If you google "Samsung Galaxy Nexus," the first article that comes up is talking about the phone being delayed until December. The rumored date was 21st which is in one week.

Give you props here. LOL I can't believe you actually measured it. Good job.
I'm not going to quote stuff because it would make the post longer and take too much time to extract what I want. But, I agree with you that there are people out there with larger hands that will prefer the Note's size and again I am one of those types of people that I see the usage of the Note. But, again all you have to do is look at the comments under for instance comparisons between the Note and the GSII and you will see almost half will say "Yeah I love the Note's size" and the other half will say "Too big for me, I'll stick with the GSII".
I think part of the reason Verizon isn't releasing the Galaxy Nexus right away is because I think they want to give some time for people to buy the RAZRs and the Bionics and the Rezounds before going after the Nexus. I mean they just released the RAZR at the beginning of this month followed by the Rezound and so they may just wait another week til the Nexus is released.
The only thing I can really go off of is that guy who said he confirmed through a source the Note would be released by year's end here. So, hopefully it wasn't some early April Fool's Joke or something.
And yes, I decided to go ahead and try to debunk whether or not it was the GSII pictured or the Note. I was actually very surprised when I came up with 5.8 inches. There's just too much evidence that led me to think it was the Note pictured and not just a regular GSII.
Do you prefer having one button (international version) or 4 buttons (US version) on the bottom?
b/c i hate the fact that they always decide to change the US versions from the international versions.
I haven't had a Android device with a hardware button on the bottom like the international versions but I would think I would like it. It just depends on how well it deals with wear and tear. For example, I had a Bold 9700 that was the first to sport Blackberry's optical pad. After 6 months of usage, it was a piece of junk. I would hover my finger over it and it would automatically register a hit. So, it would just depend on how well it would deal with being pressed a lot. I think I would like it even better if the Note over here instead had an edge-to-edge screen with no buttons on the bottom and instead just built into the OS like ICS. It's just that you also have to remember that those capacitive buttons and hardware buttons on the bottom use individual sensors for each one. So if one fails then you are pretty much screwed. If you built it into the screen, either the whole screen fails or it works. So, you don't have that worry about a sensor going out or whatever.

I just got my Galaxy Note... holy crap it's amazing.
I will repeat what EVERYONE's first reaction is... ITS HOLY BIG.
Good news... I was able to text with one hand. =)
My thumb is able to reach about 80-90% across when holding the phone normally and trying to text. Good enough. With the Galaxy S2, my thumb can touch the fingers on the other side. I think it's perfect size.

I now feel like the kid who still hasn't gotten his invite to the party.
But, I shall continue waiting. Hopefully someday I will get the phone I want...
There are various places you can buy and the prices range from mid 700 to mid 800 depending on shipping and what company.
But... it's WORTH IT. seriously.
Yeah I agree, but since Samsung hasn't made an official release in the US, it's better to buy from a well established website like Amazon. There are a lot of smaller companies that are selling pre-order with the intentions of making you think that the Galaxy Note are "in-stock" then turn around and say they are currently out of stock and waiting on the next truck and you'll be the 1st on the list to be issued one.(BS)
Trust me I've gone through this too many times with certain products(new releases of course).
Also To the referrer of NEWEgg. Amazon has it for $748.99 +$5.50 shipping. See it HERE

Fair enough....however I have never dealt with any of the vendors actually providing the device on amazon's behalf. I, and many others, have purchased from newegg, for several years. Sometimes the extra few dollars are worth the piece of mind.

How is the scree compared to the Iphone 4 clarity? Can you see pixels?
Thanks.

Yeah I liked newegg also I used to buy computer stuff from them and the thing I like about Amazon is it's like Walmart (they'll take just about anything back or talk to the merchant themselves to fix the problem) where as I bought a motherboard from Newegg before and they gave me crap about sending back defective computer parts that was opened, HOW THE HECK WAS i SUPPOSED TO KNOW IT WAS BROKE IF i DIDN'T OPEN IT????? So anyways both places are good, but since that incident I no-longer get things from Newegg.

Sorry to hear that. I've RMA'd (3) motherboards and a processor without issue with newrgg. I particularly the free 3-day shipping that comes "next day", when shipped from the Jersey warehouse.

Well after I had complained to another associate they actually corrected the problem for me, but the 1st 2 people I talked to gave me crap. So it may have been a new associate or something. I was pissed, so anyways they did work it out for me, afterwards, so it was just that one incident that ruined it 4 me so I don't terribly hate them. I still think their a great company.
Who covers the phone if something happens to it (button stops working, etc)? Basically who honors the warranty because AT&T won't because they don't sell the phone? Would Samsung cover it?
Just go to ebay. They have different pricing on different places for some reason. Maybe it has to do with the amount of the cut that amazon and ebay takes.
I think Samsung has the best display out of anyone right now.
Yea, OLED screens are the best in the world right now, but their expensive. Luckily for us samsung developed their own version of it called Super AMOLED. Their version is simply easier to make and more power efficient, so its cheap enough for us to buy and great for mobile devices that love to suck up energy. It is much clearer, more crisp, and has the most readable text of any screen I have ever seen( you can read websites on the note without even zooming in at all). Also it has something like 6 million to 1 contrast compared to the iphones IPS LCD which is only like 20 thousand to 1. So yes, it looks AMAZING.
You can purchase an unlocked Note right now for only $600 from Handtec, google it.
NOTE: it may be worth waiting for the US version as it comes with NFC and the international one does not. Also.. unfortunately the phone does not have a notification light and I don't know if the US version will either.(id get it anyway tho.. there's always noLED(search it on the market))

Why are you scared of links? It's a freakin' website!
Also just because it's available for purchase doesn't mean I said there were carriers already supporting it. IT"S JUST AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE! Geez...
I didn't mean to be rude or disrespectful, it was just funny to me cause it's still a large amount of money that's all. If I had that amount of money I would already have this product for sure.
I'm not scared of links, but I was surprised that someone had made a site with the url samsunggalaxynotewhatever, which made me not want to click it from a work computer having no idea what the site was, that's all.

No problem, I wasn't mad either just didn't understand at the time. No BIG deal. Yeah I know what you mean, JUST 7 hundred some dollars for a phone. But for some people that is cheap!
For others well not so easy to through almost a grand into a phone right now, but depending on what you need a galaxy note for, $700 might sound pretty cheap!
But it's still going down in price EVEN though it's selling like crazy and people are LOVING IT!!
Okay. I can wait a while to see if AT&T will get this phone. Right now, I'm confused as the sellers on the net say they have 3g versions available for AT&T's network. For about $690. That doesn't sound overpriced for an unlocked phone. But certainly I would love to put my hands on it. But this worries me as the FCC just had the 3g radios version this week so how could these people have the AT&T 3g version for sale already?
And some are selling blue (which is maybe the 3g version) and some are selling black and is there a difference?
I have an Evo 4G. With an extended battery, it weighs 200 grams, so it weighs more than the Note. And the note won't be that much wider.
But 3g. Am I going to hate only getting 3g speeds when I could go to Verizon and get lite on a Nexus? But a Nexus is not a note.

What is being sold is NOT an At&t phone, but a phone available in Europe or Asia that happens to share the same or similar bands. All phones around the world use a limited number of bands and you can buy a phone that is on the same bands that will work on different providers around the world.
BUT, the device must be unlocked or it will only work on the carrier it was sold for.
I am waiting for a 4G version or will stay with my Dell Streak for now.
But the fcc version just thru is 3g only. You are hoping they will redo the phone and release with 4g. That would be nice but AT&T doesn't have 4g in my area anyway. I think I will go buy an AT&T phone and bring it home and see what kind of reception and upload/download speeds I get with 3g. Then I will know if I want this Note, forever tethered to AT&T.
Anyway, just came from AT&T and they don't have 4g. They have hspa+ and LTE though where is a mystery to me. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S II, brought it home, I can talk everywhere in the house. The upload and download speeds are atrocious on it, as well as on my husband's Verizon phone. But when we connect to the house wireless, they are zipping fast. So the question is, is AT&T going to release the Note stateside with its "soon to be faster" net? Who knows.
