Default 2.3.6 Gingerbread

I just got my white Note. Kies and the phone updates won't update my phone. I'm assuming 2.3.6 is the newest firmware. However, I don't have the one one hand type keyboard. Am I missing something?

Baseband Version
N7000XXKK5

Kernel version
2.6.35.7-N7000XXKKA-CL726566

Build number
GINGERBREAD.XXKKA

CSC: N7000XEUKK3

Build Info: Fri Nov 11 14:46:53 KST 2011

If you are then I am missing it too since I have the exact same version as you. I am also waiting for this update and wondering if ICS will come first or not.

Regards,
Eric.

I assume the OTA (Over the Air) servers may have been busy. This morning I was able to connect completely. The phone told me that there are no updates available.

Are these phones / updates regional? I thought there was only 2, UK (home button) and soon USA (no button).

Samsung touted that they updated the firmware for one hand typing. I almost didn't buy this phone until I saw this update. Now that I got the phone, I'm aggravated by not having it.

there's an update available OTA today, but Gingerbread version stays the same. It said it's for fixing stability issues.

Updates OTA are country-specific.
System>about phone>software update>update.

Hi All,

Just got this update in Germany this evening. Seems it just takes an age to crawl its way to me. I hope there is not the same delay when ICS is released.

Regards,
Eric Ritchie.

Hi
I'm also from India. AFter I got this update, the phone lags too much and the battery drains very fast. Is there any way to go back to the previous version?
I tried to factory reset but it just reinstalled the current firmware.

Im also in India but my Note has not had any issues after the firmware upgrade. Perhaps you have a very intensive background process running? Try killing the unnecessary processes and see..

I live in India and I am downloading this update now. 72 odd mb OTA. will see whether it affects my Note in any way.

Where did you hear that? The early adopters here are reporting that the Chinese leak ROM is performing much better than Gingerbread.

Not that I would know, since I have not tried, but is it not possible to get this ROM and manually flash it onto the phone? Not that I see any reason to do so since my phone seems a little bit more prone to crashing since the update, but it is what I would be researching if I was you.

Regards,
Eric Ritchie.
