Default 2nd email address & playing DVD's

Just updated my Note to ICS - at the 3rd attempt. Bearing in mind I'm an old f--t not a young geek, can someone help by telling me how I can access my 2nd email address? Adding the first one was easy, though it meant driving 14 miles to get a strong signal (I kid you not). Also, can I play DVD's on a stand-alone player and use the screen on the Note to watch them?? As you may have guessed, I haven't figured out any other method yet, but I'm interested to learn if this would work, especially when on holiday..

I have not updated my phone to ICS yet, so bare in mind that these instructions may not work for you. Hopefully you can adapt them to your version of the mail client.

Open the mail client. You should be looking at the inbox of your first mail account. In the top right corner of the screen you will see a button (even though it does not look like one) with the name of your account on it. Clicking on this will take you out to the accounts page of the mail client. When there click on the options button (the one to the left of the hardware home button under the screen) and select "add account". Add the details of your second account and enjoy

No, you cannot view the output of a standalone DVD player on the screen of the Note. What you can do though is rip the DVD using a computer, convert the movie to an mp4 file using handbrake and transfer that file onto your phone to be played by the standard video player. Note: you should only rip your own DVDs (of course). If you don't know how to do this just check Google. Most commercial DVDs are encrypted and need to be decrypted with ripping software before handbrake can work with them. There are many tools and guides allowing you to do this (assuming you have a computer with a DVD reader).

Hope this helps...

Regards,
Eric Ritchie

PS: Say hi to Nessie for me

Ok, think we need to establish a couple of things here as far as the extra e-mail address.

1. are you using the Gmail app or the Email app ????
2. are you wanting to add another googlemail/gmail account or an account from another mail provider (for example hotmail).????

if you wish to add another googlemail/gmail account then i suggest you use the Gmail app.
open app, hit menu button (touch button to left of hardware button) select settings then on top right you will see add account, hit that and follow instructions....

if the account you wish to add is provided by another email provider (ie hotmail) then use the Email app.
open app, hit menu button, select settings, top right of screen you will see a + symbol next to a trash can icon, hit the + and follow instructions

oh by the way both Email and Gmail apps come loaded as standard on note.

regards

Baz

Many thanks for the replies, guys. Every home with an over-60 should have a teenager to explain how things work. My request for a 19 year old blonde Swedish girl was rejected, though, on health grounds. I'll do my best to work through your answers. (AOL for email)
