Default deleting notifications

Hello, can anyone help me with deleting notifications on my Samsung galaxy note please? I searched the forum prior to posting and found some tips such as Swyping and pressing and dragging to the bottom if the phone. I have tried these and neither work. The clear button I have also used but the notifications stay and the clear button greys out and cannot be I used. Does anyone have any I ideas? Thanks.

Are you talking about notification icons, like JayC mentioned? If so, you need to go into those applications and find the setting that helps disable notification icons. For instance, Screebl (great app) has a "Generate Notifications" tick.

That one is a constant one, but if you're talking about notifications from apps like FB, then you do the same and you won't be notified intermittently about any messages you receive.
