music files multiply for no obvious reason

Ok so this has been bothering me for a long time. I tried contacting samsung but that got me no where. So for some reason when I open the default music player on my note the music files are duplicated. I have them saved to my sd card and if i check them on there they are fine. If you click on the file it doesnt play and if you look under details it doesnt show a file location. I'm really confused. I take out the sd card and delete the empty files off the phone but they just duplicate again. If anyone has any idea or suggestions I would appreciate it.

Unmount the Sd card then mount it again, no need to restart the phone.

Mine suffers this but have no idea why, but this method fixes it.

In addition to music files I have had the same problem with photos. I have songs multiplied five times and photos three times.

I've done all the things I could think of to get rid of this problem. I've taken out the SD card, nothing. I've cleared the memory for both the gallery and music applications (Music and WinAmp) however the issue still persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have found a temporary solution to the multiple music/photo problem.

Settings->Applications->All Tab->Media Storage

Clear the data and then restart your phone.

This will restore gallery and your music player with single files again. However, I've found, after a time something happens with my phone and it again starts duplicating media files until I have several copies of the same song/photo.

If anyone knows what is going on with my phone and how to prevent this process in the first place, I'd appreciate any help.

I have the exact same problem
just started about a week ago.
in my photo gallery I see blank pages inbetween each photo
and 1/2 my music files have a duplicate
so I see double in my music list

I'm wondering if the sd card might have gotten messed up by me pulling out the USB cable before ejecting the connection in Windows???

Will this get rid of "ghost" files too? When I open Winamp, I seel all the songs I have, but if I go into Ringdroid I have song titles I deleted ages ago.
