Default 80/90 percent

Hi all, Ive got a few problems with my GN that Id like to put out there to see if any one can help....

The GN is the first smart phone Ive ever used and its been a steep but fun learning curve. I find it very useful and Im using it every day for navigation, films, music, reading, games, etc. My girlfriend is jelouse and wants one too but to be honest I reluctant to recommend it. She has already noticed the battery doesnt last long and thinks I should send it in for a replacement... Id say Im 80/90 percent satisfied with the GN, Its a shame its so buggy otherwise it would be a very good phone.

Some of the issues I have and would appreciate any help offered:

1 I have the samsung phone holder for my car, and like to have it set horizontal. Problem is if I turn on the phone (battery is dead for example) after putting it in the cradle, half the sim lock screen is hidden so that I cant enter the code and click ok. This is annoying and seems a bit stupid.

2 Just bought a 32gig samsung sd card that works great except that ever since I installed it if I have the phone connected to the charger, the touch screen doesnt work! I cant scroll or select apps etc. Is this a known bug?

3 Head phones only work on one ear, and connected to the car stereo with a phono cable, only one speaker works.

4 Seems Orange FR have no intention of updating their clients GNs to ICS. Is there a way to update myself that wont be detected/ invalidate the warrenty if I have to reset back to JB?

thanks

1) remove simlock?
2) no experience with this; have used 32 and 64 gb cards with no problem. Sounds like a coincidental issue. Does it go away when you remove the card?
3) sounds like a possible hardware problem! Try all sound apps and see if it's consistently not working. try wiggling the connector also. Not sure if there's a balance control, but check out thoroughly before returning device.
4) Not sure. Depends how you root the phone apparently. There are 2 methods, one involves using some external logging system which apparently feeds back to samsung the fact that you have rooted. I have tried many different roms all successfully. Check RootGalaxyNote.com - Your Source for Galaxy Note Root! ; excellent site for all aspects of rooting and roms.

3) make sure you have to head phones plugged in all the way, the last click is quite stiff.

2 - Are you using the original charger. If you use any other charger, the touch doesnt work fine. That can even damage your phone

3- Check if your head phones work fine. And if you are using any third party music app like poweramp, there are some options to tune left and right speakers.Check that

4 - If you dont get official update of ics,you can try custom ics roms, you can also try custom jelly bean roms
you need to root your phone to flash custom roms that leads to increase your flash counter. You can even reset that flash counter so that no one can find that you changed your rom or even you got rooted
I flashed many roms and recenty got a small probelm and got it repaired under warranty
This is truely an excellent phone
