Question I want notifications to wake the display when locked

I recently switched from an iPhone 4S to a Galaxy Note.

If my iPhone was locked and I received a Push Notification (e.g. from Facebook Messenger), the lockscreen would show and tell me I have a notification.

With my Note, I hear that I have a notification, but the screen stays off.

Any ideas how I can change this behavior?

I am running the latest Samsung Galaxy Note ROM (XXLRK).

All I did was search for "android screen on on notifications" in google and found this:

It seems to do what you want.

Many thanks, I gave it a try. However, all it does is wake the screen up and not display the notification that caused the screen to awaken.

Not quite what I meant - only half of it

That's weird, because when I get a notification on my note (no matter facebook(msg)/twitter/mail/etc) it would light up the screen and scroll through the notification on the status bar.
