Default How do I make a 'widget' run (on ICS) ?

Hi

Newbie question: How do I make a 'widget' run on ICS?

I am on Samsung Galaxy Note... running Ice Cream Sandwich ("ICS") - I'm not sure which version (nor do I know how to find out which version it is!).

e.g. I just downloaded the 'widget' called "MIUI Analogue Clock". But I cant get it to run i.e. to actually appear anywere.

There is an icon for it which appeared on my page 7 version of the Home pages. But if you click on it all that happens is that you get a "Thank you for installing" message...

Any help appreciated.

J

P.S. Where can I find some introduction to ICS videos that explain all the jargon e.g. WTF an App Drawer is?

Hi...
I answer to your question all you have to is either press and hold a clear part of your home screen then add widget. Or you can press the menu button and hit add then select widget and scroll to you installed widget.

Thanks - that works.
Now my only problem is that the (clock) widet is taking up too much space. Is there any way to change its settings (i.e. to shrink it!)
Many thanks

J

If you're using the default/stock home screen launcher then you can't resize the widgets. When the operating system update to Jelly Bean arrives you will be able to resize widgets.

If you want to be able to resize them now, you'll have to get a new home launcher from the Google Play store. Some examples include Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher and Go Launcher, all of which allow you to resize widgets. That said, though, it doesn't sound like that's something you would be interested in doing.

I don't have a perfect tutorial for you, but YouTube would be a good place to check for video tips and tutorials. Do you have any friends, family members or colleagues who use Android-based phones?
