Default Is it still good?

Good day guys

Is the Note still a good buy at this time? Cause i'm planning to buy one(2nd hand) cause my old 3GS isn't helping me at anything now since this is an oold phone. I'm a bit of a lag/choppy freak and i'm asking also if there's an annoying lag when panning the home screens, or when you exit a heavy app then you pan around, is there any noticable choppy-ness? Thanks.

Here's the catch: If i put in around 30$ i can get the S3. But i really have no idea where to get that extra 30$

I have a N1, my wife got a N2.

Huge difference. That extra gig of ram makes it zippy. Mine is ok, but I have major phone envy going on for my wife's. It is very smooth. More future proof too.

Depending on the app, YES there can be a LOT of lag/choppy-ness. For instance there is a ton of lag when using the swipe feature to change pages on the ESPN Scorecenter app-at least there is for me. Never had this problem on my old iPhone 3GS. And if I scroll or try to move around too fast on most web pages there is a lot a delay/lag regardless of which browser I use.

I've owned the Note 1 since March. Frankly, if I was in the market for a new phone today I would not purchase the N1.

Just my .02

There is no doubt that the Note2 is a better device than the Note1, however, the Note1 is still an awesome device and is due to get JellyBean soon.

If I were to upgrade right now, I would go with the Note2, but since I don't have the option to upgrade for a long time, I'm more than happy to carry on using my Note1.

Since you made it very clear that you're a "bit of a lag/choppy freak" there's no doubt in my mind that you will not like the Note 1. If you can pony up the cash for the Note 2 then that might be better-suited to you.

That said, though, I echo other posters' sentiments: the Note 1 is a fantastic phone. I enjoy mine and haven't found a phone with which I would replace it, yet. Speed is the only issue, and becomes an issue with every phone, eventually. That's just the nature of technology. I like the performance of the Note 2, but am not a fan of the form factor (shape, textures, home button) in the same way that I'm not a fan of the Galaxy S3 (wife has one).

Actually, that's one thing I forgot. I like the capacitive home button way better than the one on the note 2.
I do love my Note, it does everything well. I am dying for jelly bean, but really no complaints. Just the note 2 is smoother for sure. Also the note 2 does have a bigger, better to write with stylus.

My dad and best friend recently got the Note 2 and I'm really jelly of the SOFTWARE... as for everything else I still love my Note 1. I have no intentions of upgrading.

Wow good points there. I'm originally buying the S3, i'm just crossing out the things i don't want in a smartphone if i fall short on my money, since the Note 1 originally has GB and is a bit outdated(ofc if i were to buy it right now, it should have ICS), it has probably a noticeable choppy issue which Google didn't address on their previous versions.

If i fall short on my money, i'm definitely considering the Note 1. Or is there any equivalent phone that has the same price/specs? I do know that the Galaxy Nexus is a good choice aswell.

So i ask you guys, if you didn't have a smartphone right now and buying one at this time and you are definitely using it 2-3 years down the road, would you get the Note 1? Because technology advances so much in a year it scares the hell out of me.

The Note 1 is a pretty solid competitor!

Loving your posts btw guys!

There will always be better shit out... I'm in it long term as I said, the only way I'd switch is if my phone broke then I'd consider the 6.3 Note 3. Other wise I'd probably just get another Note 1.

I hAve the original note & no lag. I'm thinking of upgrading to note2 though. I use my phone for EVERYTHING. Haven't touched an actual lap top or pc in 3 months.....
