It was supposed to be coming in Q4 of last year, now it is rumoured it will come this month, but no one knows for sure, except Samsung and they aren't saying.

All we know for sure is the Note will definitely get JB sometime soon.

LOl, not really.

Samsung has already said that the note as well as the S2 will get the update. It's just a matter of when.

> Galaxy Note Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update begins to roll out Phone Reviews

Am I missing something here?
Here you are talking about Android 4.1.2 whereas I am still on Android 4.0.4 ("ICS"). Am I able to install 4.1.1 now? Wikipedia seems to imply that Galaxy Notes received Android 4.1 "Jellybean" since October 2012, albeit starting with South Korea for some reason.

Also do we assume that there are severe problems with the stability of 4.1.2 ? (= "Jelly Bean" or was that 4.1.1??)

Btw, my phone is a GT-N7000 and according to KIES my current firmware is" PDA:LRK / PHONE:LRK / CSC:LP5 (XEU)"

With thanks

You currently have the same firmware as I do and until Samsung release JB, you're stuck with it, unless you want to go down the rooting road.

JB 4.1.2 is the latest Samsung/Android release and so will supercede older versions of JB. I don't suppose there would be much point in Samsung releasing an older less stable version of JB.

It would help if you people would put what country your from in your user profile so we know who is getting what and why. It's not like someone is gonna track you down if you only list the country.

There is nothing to suggest that the leaked firmware is stable or will be the version that is finally released via Kies. With that in mind, I urge members to be cautious.

Does Samsung Note take different JB versions, like say Europe & USA?

I'm thinking most of the time these new firewares are never really released is it would cut into the sales of the new Note II. One of the big reasons to get that phone is because of the JB.

Yes. I was talking about the link you provided mate.

With the official JB release being pretty close, personally I think I'll wait, cause I don't fancy flashing what may or may not be a stable version. Also as you rightly pointed out, this may not be the country specific version that is needed.

Sorry, I live in the UK. Do we think that every different country has different hardware is it just different software/settings/Flash-able BIOS?

Either way according to wikipedia
> Since October 2012, starting with South Korea, Android 4.1 "Jellybean"
> has been made available for the Galaxy Note
If true why the heck hasnt it been made available to the UK and the US yet?
This is starting to smack of a PR gaff. Personally, if I EVER get the idea that the Koreans are going to punish the rest of us for not being Korean then I shall drop Samsung like a hot brick. Fwiw, I think the hugely successful Apple are very sensitive to this issue and try hard to release things on a world-wide basis. Dont get me wrong I hate Apple for several reasons, but Samsung need to be very VERY careful on this issue.

I think it is more like they're afraid of losing Note II sales as a big part of that advertising is about the new JB on it. If the folks with the original Note gets JB, why jump to the Note II, it is not that much better.

I'm just guessing.

There is no evidence that the Samsung has released Jelly Bean for the original Note (GT-N7000) yet, but it has clearly been promised. Instead, there have been leaked development ROMs which look close to being finished.

I don't buy the Note 2 sales argument. The vast majority of Note 1 owners have devices less than a year old - why would you want to upgrade so early? Especially as the Note 1 is pretty damned good anyway.

Just be patient and you will get the Jelly Bean and suite upgrade soon enough.

Remember Wikipedia is updated by Joe Nobody so it's a good starting point but always check the sources.

All we have from Samsung is an Official page detailing the Note N7000 with JB and no mention of release dates:
Samsung GALAXY Note - Samsung Mobile

Rumours have said a roll-out will start December 2012, then January 2013 then February 2013.

A few people last Autumn got Jelly Bean pushed to their phone which is how the leaks ended up on XDA. These people have all received different revisions suggesting they were Beta released accidently (or perhaps purposefully) pushed to a few users phones.

Sammobile lists OTA updates per phone and country. The latest info tells us they are still pushing ICS to some countries (Venezuela and Argentina in November) so they're not likely to start pushing JB until they have finished with ICS.

Bottom line is, if you're happy to wait it will come and if you're not happy to wait flash one of the leaked versions, I'm running an LSC version and whilst using it, it's very stable with blazing speeds and good battery life. The only issue I've found is sometimes it will get stuck booting after a reboot.

I am extremely unhappy with my Samsung Galaxy Note I for many reasons.
The main one is that all the apps I can find seem A) fairly flaky and B) fairly counter intuitive.

e.g.
1. I have had endless problems synching to msExchange.
2. I cant stop those irritating whistles when things come in. That is I do still want to hear that an SMS has come in but nothing else.
3. Almost everything it does is just too damned slow. I dont have a vast number of apps installed either. It might be because I am running AVG anti-virus though.
4. Even things like setting up a calendar entry is painful. I add an entry and it immediately disappears from view!
5. The default email app is irritating because it can only show one email folder at once. So if an email comes in that Outlook has put into a specific directory, you have to know to look there or you wont find it.
6. The "Hi Galaxy" thing (when you it the button at the bottom middle twice) sometimes works well but when it gets stuck it gets VERY stuck and overall I find that it is almost useless. This is a huge shame because if it actually worked it would be extremely useful for when driving.
7. KIES is absolutely dreadful. It takes a very long time to connect. Quite often it completely fails to connect in fact! And whilst KIES is open it murders my PC's 'resources' (Fwiw, my PC is: Win7 x64, with 8GB of RAM, running an SSD with loads of space available). For example Skype and Youtube playback become unusable.

I'm still a Galaxy Note newbie and perhaps I'm mis-using or misunderstanding the thing. Or perhaps I need to find better apps. I dont know - but I have bought a couple of android review type magazines and tried various of their recommended apps, but most of them I've had to uninstall.

Now that I remember, my phone got COMPLETELY stuck attempting to do an upgrade and tech support couldnt help me and eventually I had so post the phone back for about 10 days whilst they fixed ti.

Yes, I do like my Galaxy Note 1 and yes, I acknowledge that I am still on a learning curve... but overall, let's not get carried away - I certainly wouldnt call it "pretty damned good".

Once it gets JB, no need to get the Note 2.

If you read the full article, you will see it is in fact saying that no such update is yet available anywhere.

The guy that posted saying the update was available in Poland was fake!

I don't think the JB will be released until the origianal note is OFF the market at the stores. Why would one buy a Note 2 if the Note has JB too? The Note 2 wouldn't be worth $150 more would it? So, with that in mind, I don't expect the JB until the original note goes off the market.

I got this news in my inbox last night:
http://www.techhive.com/articl...
So in the USA, I bet it is still months away.

Samsung GALAXY Note - Samsung Mobile

At the above link, look at where it says Platform and you will see it says JellyBean.4.1.

I suggest this means the JB update is imminent, seeing as how Samsung themselves have added JB to the specification of the Note.

Here's a site that says Samsung admitted that it will probably be February. Anyway it happens when it happens.

Samsung need to be careful. They are riding high at present selling more handsets (c.60 million last year I gather) than even the mighty Apple... but for most of us, our brand loyalty is skin deep. We don't really know who Samsung are, nor what they stand for. We have bought their smartphones simply because we think that they are the best at present.

But if they screw us... by failing to upgrade our software... then their userbase will very quickly give them a very bloody nose.

Samsung GALAXY Note - Samsung Mobile

According to Samsung, the update won't be available until Q2 of this year. Not sure what the delay is caused by, but there you have it.

I am led to believe that this will be part of the JB update.

Yeah, it will be back to Apple and Verizon for me next time.
Samsung has done this before, so it should not be a surprise.

I can understand why some folks are a little disappointed that the JB update is taking longer than expected, but in all honesty, there's not much wrong with the Note as it is, so I'm not too worried if the updates doesn't appear that soon. I certainly wouldn't contemplate switching to Apple just because an update wasn't available as quickly as one would like. No Apple phone can do anywhere near what the Note can.

hi guys,
all due respect, but am i the only one to see this?
Samsung GALAXY Note - Samsung Mobile

the announcement in above link regarding premium suite is as it states "premium suite" which is a completely different software upgrade to jellybean.
how do i know ?? i hear you ask...well in above mentioned link (which is samsungs official galaxy note page) if you click on specifications you will find that the Platform specs for the note is Android TM 4.1 (Jelly Bean) *upgradable.
Now i aint no rocket scientist but that to me clearly indicates that premium suite is in fact an additional upgrade to 4.1 jelly bean so leading me to believe we will recieve the 4.1 upgrade BEFORE premium suite upgrade....and as the premium suite upgrade is due sometime february that would also lead me to believ 4.1 upgrade is pretty iminent.

regards

Baz

The Samsung Premium Suite will be bundled with the JB update, so effectively it is the update we have all been waiting for and Samsung have definitely said it will be released in Q2 of this year.

No one can really complain about the whole jb update. If you want fast OS updates, get a nexus device. Everyone knows updates from phone oem's take longer, especially through networks/carriers. Also, the fact we'll be getting premium suite, same as the note 2, I think we're getting a pretty good deal, they didn't need to include that.

Omar, I don't think anyone is complaining about getting it. The real gripe is the way that it can never adhere to deadlines.... In August they said Q4 2012, then in December they said January and now we are hearing Q2 2013, so potentially 10 months later than first stated. It's a mess and I'd rather they just said nothing, or even said that JB was NOT coming to GT-N7000. That way I would be getting wound up at the farce along with thousands of others and also they wouldn't have to deal with the presure of allocating resources to an old phone instead of concentrating on innovation.....
I'm no business guru but this can't do the business any favours......

Welcome to the world of waiting for OEM's to push android os updates to your device. Just how it goes I'm afraid.

I have one day left of my 30 days with my new Note. I'm gonna return it and get the Note 2 as I don't think the JB is gonna come out anytime soon. Samsung has pulled this before, so I don't expect the JB until probably 2014.

If it's anything like ICS, the braintrust AT&T will add a minimum of 3 - 6 months to the schedule while they ensure their bloatware is working (if they do it at all).

I remember bloatware from my old PC days. I don't think my carrier adds anything. What's an example of some bloatware they are adding to the phones? I remember with my iphone, I was upset I couldn't get rid of a bunch of apple apps like news stand and stocks.
