GT-i5700 - inadvertant data usage?
I've tried to change settings, switch off wi-fi and strip out applications but I'm not sure I've managed to identify why/what is causing a huge recent spike in data internet downloads.
I've exceeded my account limit with the provider this past month by £50 whereas I've rarely exceeded it by a pound or two! I haven't installed any new apps in this period though I did think that the Turn on Wi-fi setting in Wireless & network settings seems to turn itself on by itself even though I regularly switch it off.
At first, I expected extra charges as I had a weekend away (but still within the UK) and browsed facebook, email and news sites.
But then the charges still continued over the next 3 weeks despite considerably lessening my internet browsing to virtually nil. Yesterday, all I did was spend 1 minute looking at my 3mobile account billing and got hit by 4 separate charges of approx £2.50 each over the course of the day (a tenner).
I get email alerts with the charges from 3 mobile that notify me of the internet charges and I'm flummoxed how I've managed to get through 471 mb of internet download in 3 weeks. I've just found out that it's the equivalent of browsing 30,000 facebook pages or 15,000 BBC pages in addition to my free allowance of mb?!
I've hopefully switched off my internet settings via the account pages with the telecoms provider and switched off the roaming feature in the Settings on the phone.
But can anyone provide me with guidance what may have caused this and what settings I should re-check? Thanks
