Post PRL Files

Ok Iam making this thread for people to post PRL files as they find ones that work on the precedent.

Here is a step by step with screenshots for flashing PRLS with CDMA-Workshop: Click Here

Please do not do what everyone on the prevail thread does and just post links to other forums or threads where we have to search for links other people posted to prls, this is very annoying....

Please only post direct links to prl files or Zip files(perfered) and please dont ask how to flash them in this thread I would like this to just be a list of PRL files.

What I have learned about PRLs:

Ok I have done some research on PRLs and figured I would break it down.

1. There is no "Magicial" PRL that will allow you to connect to every tower in the world.

2. Agreements between carriers can change daily. so one PRL may be awesome today but suck tommorow.

3. Use a PRL that is for your phones type of signal. The precedent uses CDMA, so dont think a GSM PRL will work. (this could damage your phone)

4. Making changes like this to your phone runs some risk of damage, so proceed at your own risk.

5. Share stuff with other people, If you find a PRL that works then please post it for others to try.

Thank You,
PureEvil

Default PRLs

Ok, these PRLS seemed Slightly better or had no change, but I know they worked with no issue on my phone.

Sprint:
11114
01120

Unknown:
01115

[disclaimer: as always just because they worked for me doesnt mean they wont damage your phone, proceed at your own risk.]

Thank You,

Default Here's info on PRLs

Here is a web-site that shows all of the changes to the PRL Files, and all of the available ones to date
BatonRougeBroadband.Info - Home
I know you asked for direct-only links, but this was as direct (without downloading them all and re-upping them somewhere else) as i could manage

did you flash it back to your original PRL. I had to turn mine off, remove the battery, let it sit for a few minutes, and rebooted, then flashed back to my original PRL, did shut down, remove battery, reboot, and that cleared it up on mine.

Pure Evil... I have been posting the same question non stop- but it keeps on getting erased.... Im about to go to a diff forum since no one here seems to help me. lol You posted a thread explaining how to flash PRL's... Which is all I have been trying to do! I downloaded everything except CDMA Workshop- Clicked on ur link but dont see where it allows you download it. Is this a free program or do I have to pay for it?

Use the link in the post above this, CDMA-Workshop is a trial with a limited amount of functions and uses but it works good for flashing prls while you have the trial.

Ok let me break down a PRL file as far as I understand them:

Every Providers Cell Towers have a number called a "SID"

Your PRL file has a list of SID's that your provider has permission to use (among other random stuff I dont understand lol)

A prl file begins by looking at your "Home SID" and seeing if that SID is usable at your current location, If it isnt then it begins to go down this list testing each SID in the PRL file until it finds one that works.(this is why your battery dies faster when your roaming)

Now certian SIDs in this list will be set higher or "MORE" (as its written in the PRL) and others just to be normal or "SAME".

Now different PRL files will have diffrent SIDs and how often they are searched by your phone (this is why some work better then others for people)

Things you should know:

There is no "magical" PRL that will let you connect to every tower in the world (but if you find one then please send it to me lol)

A PRL file wont let you connect to towers that your provider isnt allowed to connect to (eg: StraightTalk on Verizon), the tower still requires a Username and password that your phone sends automaticaly.

Here are some photos of what a PRL file looks like:

Hope this helps,
PureEvil

P.S. This is what I have gathered from my own research, this doesnt mean its 100% correct.

It seems the best way to find one is just to try some out. I tried a few here in West. Washington and never found anything better than the stock PRL. Since re-flashing my phone last week I haven't bothered changing the PRL to anything other than what Sprint says I should be using.

At worst, the only issue I can think will crop up is that you can't get a signal. Changing to a different PRL shouldn't affect your hardware at all.

First of all Hi to everyone.

I have been trying different prl's (btw the guide is excellent).
so far non have been better.
Would it be too much to ask that people put down the geographic area they are in
when posting what worked best for them. so far I have tried more than 10.
I am in Norfolk, Va. or area code 757

Best thing to do:

Find one of your friends with a phone that uses CDMA like sprint, make sure its a real provider not Straight talk or boost. Then look and see what PRL there phone is using and try to get that one. That is prolly the best your going to do for your area. I have said it many times, There is no Magical PRL that will let you connect to any tower.

BTW .. I have found that so far prl 01115 works best for me. I will update if and when I find one better.

Might want to see if there is a forum for that phone, I am not gonna tell you how to do it because it may be different on that phone.

When you connect, and "Read" on CDMA does your phone respond?

Can you transfer files to and from your computer when you hook up your usb cable?

If you cant do that, then its either that you need to get updated samsung drivers for your computer or your not using the USB cable that came with your phone. You cant just use any USB cable, they may all look the same but there is a difference in USB cables.

What I've found through some experimentation is that some cables won't work when plugged into USB hubs or other cables - they have to be connected directly to the USB port on the computer. I haven't found any A male-to-micro male cables that just won't work.

Ok here is your USB leason:

There are 3 normal versions of USB cables 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 (there is 3.0 now also) so that covers the versions

Now there are:
USB-A to USB-A
USB-A to USB-B
USB-A to USB 5 Pin Mini-B
USB-A to USB 4 Pin Mini-B
(there are also some odd sizes for special uses, but these are the normal type)

You need a USB v2.0 - 5 Pin Mini-B to connect your precedent to your computer for data transfer. A 4 Pin Mini-B or 5 Pin v1.x will most likely allow it to charge, but will not transfer data.

So basically just use the wire that came with your phone or buy a Samsung USB cable. Just because a USB cable worked on some old phone of yours does not mean it will work on this phone. It will most likely be a USB v1.0 or v1.1 and will not allow you to transfer data.

Hope this helps,
PureEvil

A PRL file wont let you connect to towers that your provider isnt allowed to connect to (eg: StraightTalk on Verizon), the tower still requires a Username and password that your phone sends automaticaly.
I have a few questions:

1) I have a straight talk precedent. It is on a sprint network. Being that it is straight talk if I find another ST prl file that works with verizon will that allow me to use verizon towers?

2) is there a way to edit my current PRL file easily?

3) IF #1 above works does anybody have a 59271 PRL file?

Yes. You just have to learn how it's constructed. Then edit it in any hex editor.

Since it won't, it doesn't matter.
