Default Ok, I give up. How do I use Google Maps?

I don't really like my first post here marking me as an idiot, but I have no choice. I cannot figure out how to get Google Maps to work.

When it launches, I get the window that says "GPS is disabled. Show location settings?". Do I have to turn on the GPS? Can I not just "use wireless networks"? I have that checked, but then I clearly have no idea what to do next.

I really, really need to have Google Maps working by this weekend.
