Exclamation Prevail - Random Reboots / Seizures

So I just got my prevail and all was going good until the device started having seizures, rebooting itself and acting very strangely.

I figured it was a software issue, a conflict with an app or something. So I did some digging.

Come to find out, it is actually being caused by the battery cover.

The molding around where the battery cover meets the power button is so tight, that it can prevent the power button from fully retracting after being pressed and can remain stuck in the down position causing the phone to randomly have seizures, freakout, and reboot.

If you are being affected by this issue, the solution is very simple. You need to remove the battery cover, and with an exacto knife, very slightly shave around the power button cutout on it. Just enough to allow the button to function properly.

There is a very easy way to test to see if you run the possibility of being affected by this issue..

Click the power button a few times with the battery cover on, then click it a few times with it off. If you can notice a difference.. You're affected.

I've already contacted both Samsung and Boost about this issue, as im sure it could very easily be misdiagnosed as a major hardware issue with the phone when customers call in to find out why their phone is freaking out.. They have yet to respond in any meaningful way.

I have had my phone freezing up a lot. I found that every time I try to use my blueant q2 Bluetooth headset my phone locks up. contacted blueant and they told me of course its my phone and not them.

my phone occassionally freezes for no reason. I had installed a 32gb class 2 card. thought it might be that. today I switched to a 16gb card from Kingston. hope the locking up stops.

I try to use class 4 memory cards and above for mobile phones. I have had troubles with the cheaper class 2 memory cards on other devices. So far my Galaxy Prevail rocks with no major issues(knock on wood).

I had the same problem. What worked for me is manually disabling the 3g data, and then using bluetooth. For some reason the phone has an issue doing this automatically and seems to freeze up the phone when both functions are being used. I downloaded Dataswitch from the market to use as an easy on/off switch. I haven't had an issue of freezing since, and my bluetooth headset works like a charm. Just remember to toggle your data back on after you're done with the call.
