I was excited once I saw the announcement about the app since then I wouldn't have to use my controller as a remote anymore (yes, I know I could just by a media remote, but I'm to cheap, lol), but then I found out for whatever ******ed reason the prevail is not supported. I get the same issue when I try to use the my xbox app (except that installs and just tells me it won't work when I try to run it, where as the smartglass app doesn't even appear in google play).
So my question is this: is there anyway to force it to work? A moded version of it or something along those lines? If it matters, my phone is rooted (I followed this guide to do so, but have not upgraded to the final CT mod version (the one just released the other week): [GUIDE][CTmod] Rooting the Prevail for Dummies (written by a dummy)
So the difference between 2.3 (prevails) and 4.0 is more than a software one? Or is it the OS? If so, is there any way to make it 4.0?
The difference is the app is made to run on a higher OS (4.0+) but our phones are (3.2-).
You can run a moded version of 4.0 Which LV stared was cm9 alpha.
The thing is our phones weeny mentioned to run 4.0 because of our hardware limitations.
So you can try running cm9 alpha.
But to run the app you might have to get someone else to dl and send you the apk.

hmmm...perhaps I'll try it down the road once he has a solid release of it (ie, post alpha and beta) since the galaxy S2 is out of my price range (thought this app isn't the only reason I want it. That phone looks awesome!). Thanks for the help!
Edit: After finding and reading the CM9 thread, I think I'll wait till I can afford the s2 rather than trying to get my phone to run this app. It sounds like CM will never have a version that supports the camera and since my phone is the only camera I own, thats not really an option for me.

Sometimes were left with no choice but to spend money even when we don't want to.
Good luck getting that app. And the phone.
Use 4shared and try to find a legit copy of XBOX Smartglass and then try to run it on Gingerbread while rooted and it should work. I did it on my friends "Samsung Admire" and it worked fine.
I could try on my prevail if I HAD A F+++ING WINDOWS LAPTOP! Try and see if it works for you.
It only runs on 4.0+ devices if I'm not mistaken... so perhaps it will work with cm9 (alpha)
(Doubt it tho)
Yea that's not the case, I think it maybe a hardware issue since i have 4.0.4 on my LG motion and I can't get it to work on it either. I downloaded the file and installed it but could never get past the login screen. it works for my nexus but nothing else.

There is a "cracked" version of the app which bypasses the phone verification over on xda.
I'll try to find it.
PS I tried it on my motion before and it works
The Samsung Galaxy Prevail is an entry level device for Boost Mobile. Unlike some of it's Galaxy S cousins, you wont find some of the higher end "Galaxy S" features and it doesn't have the familiar TouchWhiz interface seen on so m... Read More
