Default New Galaxy S 4G Owner! (Should I have even bought this)?

I switch from Sprint's EPIC 4G.

Both Sprint and T-Mobile have 4G in my hometown. Was this a waste of an early termination fee?

1) At my university, I get no in-building service with Sprint. I'm constantly roaming, and even then, the signal is weak. Dropped calls are frequent. Everywhere else in town (including as soon as I walk right out the building), coverage is perfect. I'm sitting here right now with both phones and I have zero bars with Sprint and full bars with T-Mobile.

2) In San Jose, there is 4G everywhere except at my house and the mall near it that I frequent. I checked both Sprint and Clear's maps, and there is a hole right where my house and the mall is. I have Wi-Fi at home, but it would be nice to have 4G at the mall. T-Mobile 4G blankets the entire city pretty much.

I got with Sprint and the EVO 4G in June, but I moved here for college in August so when I started my Sprint service I didn't know it would be bad here.

I was worried that this phone didn't have a camera flash, but I'm actually getting the Galaxy S2 T-Mobile variant, so this is just temporary (I'm an Even More Plus subscriber).

The service blows Sprint out of the water! No bars/roaming vs. full bars!
But I miss the QWERTY board and camera flash. I hope the S2 variant has those.

I can understand it if thats what your used to... I personally dont care for the qwerty due to how thick it makes the phone.

I'm also very comfortable with Swype since the EPIC has it also, however. Hey, at least I get service at school now! xD

I have the same phone with TM. The camera isn't all that bad. You have picture modes which include night shots, or you can manually set up the ISO. I usually use 400.
Like all phones - you can't see the screen in bright light. So if you are planning to take pictures outside, I would set up the camera first.
I like the wifi calling. My favorite area is around Four Corners. Almost every one has a large hole there, although I thought I saw a post where the Navajo Nation contracted with Verizon. We get out of service a lot. At least most motels have wifi.

I'm thinking of getting the Galaxy S 4G. I am nervous about t-mobile because I've never had them and they rate kinda low on the cell phone coverage and dropped calls ratings/lists. I don't know anyone who has them either. But I like their 4G speed and the Galaxy is the perfect size and has a cool AMOLDED plus screen.

Are you guys enjoying the GS 4G?

Anyway - what has been your experience with voice and data coverage with T-mobile?

I've had TM for about 5 years now. Haven't had too many problems except in the desert southwest. Most of the carriers are blank there. You can lose reception in mountains or canyons. Along almost every major corridor, you are OK. I live in Colorado and we do have varied terrain.
This phone does have wifi calling, and it's supposed to be any wifi. That will help, even if that uses minutes. I can do Skype to Skype over wifi with no charges.

ATT might have improved from years ago. I had a coworker having to stand on a haybale in southern CO so she could use the phone!

Verizon's coverage is supposed to be good. Years ago, we had to turn off phones over mountain passes and the desert southwest as there was no reception.

There are warnings in Moab, UT. If you can't see the LaSal mountain range, you won't have reception. Doesn't matter which carrier.

I went ahead and picked up the SGS4G and couldn't be happier. I have 4G coverage even in areas that say 3G on tmobile's coverage map.

The phone is light and powerful. Call quality is top notch. Good times.
