Default New Samsung Galaxy S 4G Owner!!

Just got back from T-Mobile store. I switched over from Verizon and the Original Droid 1 and couldnt be happier!! Verizon is charging waaaay too much and the thing that sent me over the edge was yesterday my friend and I were in Chicago and I had no service where he had FULL reception!!! WHA?!?!?! That was it for me!! Love the phone even an hour into it! Just wanted to say hello.

Question already! Never been a Tmobile customer before, is there any way to change the PRL?

Congrats on the new phone! My sis-n-law just bought one and I'm waiting on her to give it to me so I can root it and all that jazz

As far as a PRL update (like dialing *228 and selecting option 2, on the Verizon network), T-Mobile and other GSM networks do not have this option. Supposedly, when you power on the handset it loads any OTA updates but you can also call 611 from your handset and have them push any roaming updates that might be available.

You won't be a T-Mobile customer for much longer. AT&T just bought them out.

Apparently, that phone will keep working on ATT after 12 months so I saw on a TM site. Especially if you root it. I'm keeping mine. Since I'm not into data that much, I can still use the phone for all my offline stuff with no problem. I also have a Galaxy3 and using that on TM was Edge, but it didn't matter to voice, and my own wifi was fast enough.
I enjoy the screen on that 4G phone.

I just got this phone yesterday and everyone keeps talking about rooting the phone. So my questions are what is rooting, how does it help the phone, and how to do it

Mine works better than Nokia's GPS. I rarely use it. I have a Garmin and prefer that if I bother with GPS at all.

Yeah, I have a Garmin as well, so I really don't mind about the GPS on the SGS 4g. I am also a first time smart phone user..

I recently traded mine and my wife's Nexus S for Galaxy S 4gs (we needed the wifi calling) and surprisingly, I enjoy this phone a lot more. The Nexus is supposed to be smoother etc etc, but despite all of the bloatware and the Galaxy being on 2.2, it blows the Nexus away. I was dreading getting rid of the Nexus, but after a day with the Galaxy, I didn't think anything more of losing it.

Not quote there yet and a lot can happen, the merger will face significant hurdles to get the nod from not only the FCC, but also the Department of Justice. And besides the FCC and the DOJ, the deal also will face scrutiny by attorney generals individual states. It will be awhile before the FCC and DOJ make any decisions and it's very well possible it won't happen. Personally I think it will go through.
