K9 mail, typing something and switching apps

Hi,

I've been using K9 mail for a short time.

I've noticed that if I'm in the midst of composing a message, and perhaps need to switch to another application to copy something, upon doing switching back to K9 using the Home button, the mail I was working on is gone, and I'm back to the Inbox.

Any idea why, or how to get back that mail?
