My Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant picks up the wifi connection at my home but I cannot use any apps or even just the basic Internet on the phone. The connection shows up as "Excellent" so I can't think of what the problem might be...

Sorry for the noob post. I'm new to mobile phones as it is, never mind Smart phones.

Is there a possibility that there is no network excess despite the connectivity ? It happens to me once in a while , you might want to check the network excess of your Wifi using your computer .

When I get home and switch to wifi (cell data off), I sometimes have to reboot for browser/apps to recognize internet connection through wifi.

Assuming you check settings/wifi and you are CONNECTED, not just picking up the signal...if you get a "check/no internet connection - try reboot
